Police Dog’s Hilarious ‘Witness Statement’ To English Prosecutors Gets UK Cops In Trouble (PHOTO)

It’s a dog eat dog world, and officials in England apparently have trouble telling dogs and humans apart.

England’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) barked up the wrong tree earlier this month when they requested a witness statement from a “PC Peach,” not realizing PD Peach was actually the police dog at the scene — not an officer.

Officers at the West Midland Police station attempted to correct CPS, informing them Peach was a canine, “to no avail,” the Telegraph reports. So in an act of mischief, they went ahead and completed a witness statement from “PC Peach,” then displayed it on one of the station’s walls for the amusement of their colleagues.

Anna Lamb-Creasey Learns Of Son’s Death Through Bizarre Facebook Message Sent By Police

Anna Lamb-Creasey of Clayton County, Ga., learned of her son’s death almost a month after it happened. But she didn’t see it on the news or hear it from a neighbor. She found out from a Facebook message sent by a police-controlled masquerade account, reports Atlanta-based news outlet WSBTV.

Lamb-Creasey’s son, Rickie Lamb, was killed by a vehicle in Forest Park in the last week in January. It wasn’t until Valentine’s Day that she found out he had died, according to a post she wrote on the fundraising website set up for her son’s funeral.

Clarence Cox, a spokesperson for the Clayton County Police, told The Huffington Post over the phone Tuesday that police sent the Facebook message to the distraught mother from an account bearing the name “Misty Hancock” and a profile photo of rapper TI. The account had been used previously “in an undercover capacity,” Cox said. “We had no intention of it getting out all over the media like this.”

HTC One accessories hands-on rundown

It’s all about the HTC One today as the company re-introduces themselves as a one-shot hero show – and with one hero comes accessories galore, of course. Here we’ve got a set of accessories that start with a folding case that’ll allow you to go all HTC Thunderbolt on your new model, moves on to dual-color covers, a 6,000 mAh battery bar, and creeps on in with a brand new car kit. You’ll be rolling out with style with your new HDMI kit, multiple choices for colors on all deliverables, and access to the whole lot by the time the actual phone reaches your pocket.

kicker

The kickstand case you’re seeing here takes on a form not unlike what we saw with the HTC One “EVO” device we experienced earlier last year – have a peek at our HTC EVO 4G LTE New Orleans ImageChip Tour post for more information on that HTC kickstand-lover. The fold-over case you see here employs red and black on its insides, leading us to believe that a Verizon version of the HTC One might be on the way – DROID perhaps.

The rather sunflower-like swivel stand you’re seeing here is made specifically for the HTC One and – for now – will only be available for this device. With the HTC DoubleCharge you’ll get such a massive amount of battery life (in a big rectangular box) that you’ll be able to charge your HTC One twice over. No more stranded in nowhereland with no uptime for you!

Some of the items we’ve seen before that were shown off again: the HTC Car StereoClip, Beats Earbuds, and the HTC Media Link HD for HDMI projection excellence. Then there’s the two-tone case you’ll see bringing on a rather bright strip of red to your HTC One experience. We’re expecting a whole lot more in the way of bright and odd color combinations here soon.

Finally, have a peek at the timeline below for more information on the HTC One through a fabulous list of hands-on experiences and announcements.

Firefox 19 releases with built-in PDF viewer

The PDF file format is incredibly popular, and it’s almost always used when sending documents to someone over the internet. Mozilla recognizes the PDF’s ubiquity and has released Firefox 19 today, complete with a built-in PDF viewer. This allows users to skip the browser plug-ins altogether when opening up PDFs in Firefox.

header-580x270

The built-in PDF viewer in Firefox is fairly interactive as well, and can do most of the basic stuff that external PDF readers are capable of, such as changing the size view, searching the document for certain words, viewing page thumbnails, printing PDF documents, saving the PDF to your computer, and even bookmarking it in Firefox for viewing later on.

Firefox 19 comes more than a month after Firefox 18, and this newest update also includes remote debugging, a handful of bug fixes, CSS improvements, as well as your general performance enhancements that are always welcomed. The PDF viewer is built on HTML5, so it’s fast and secure. However, there’s no pinch-to-zoom support on the Mac, which is a slight bummer. Hopefully they’ll add it in the future.

Of course, Google Chrome users have long been enjoying a built-in PDF viewer, so it actually took Mozilla a long time until they finally introduced the feature. Nonetheless, avid Firefox users (which seem to be dwindling in numbers lately), finally get to throw out those annoying PDF reader plug-ins for a handy default solution.

ADATA Announces Global Launch of Wireless Storage Reader / Power Bank – DashDrive Air AE400

Share Pictures, Music and Data Anywhere While Charging Your Portable Device

Taipei, Taiwan – Feb 19, 2013 – ADATA[TM] Technology, a leading manufacturer of high-performance DRAM modules and NAND Flash storage application products, today announces the release of the DashDrive Air AE400, a versatile wireless reader that can read and stream data from USB storage media and SD memory cards, and also functions as a power bank that can charge other mobile devices.

As smartphones and tablet computers continue to replace traditional desktop systems in worldwide markets, wireless network availability and power charging sources become omnipresent requirements. The AE400 can be an easy to operate wireless hotspot, with support for 802.11 b/g/n wireless networking. When functioning as a network bridge, the internet connection can be shared by up to 10 devices at the same time.

As a storage reader, the AE400 enables wireless data transfer between mobile devices and SD cards, USB flash drives, or portable HDDs. It supports up to 3 users simultaneously streaming 1080P video, or up to 5 users simultaneously streaming 720p video. Supported operating systems include iOS, Android, Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8), OS X, and Linux 2.4+. The DashDrive Air Elite App (for users of iOS 5.0 & Android 2.3 or later versions) is free for download from both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The surface of the AE400 gleams with a modern, hexagonal lattice design, giving a hint of the potent integral power bank within. The power bank has a capacity of 5000 mAh, which translates to a charging capacity of approximately two full charges for a smartphone. This combination of functions: USB storage & card reader, and power bank, make the DashDrive Air AE400 an extremely versatile and multifunctional addition that can reduce the number of electronic accessories needed for full data access on-the-go.

Availability
The DashDrive Air AE400 will be available through selected distributors and resellers in the Europe at the MSRP of £52.99.
