‘Castle’: Richard’s Daughter Kidnapped As Part Of A Larger Abduction Plot (VIDEO)

Richard Castle found himself in the middle of every parent’s nightmare on the latest episode of “Castle.” His daughter was abducted from college and being held. It was all part of a kidnapping plot involving a classmate of hers who was the daughter of a wealthy Egyptian man who’s made his fair share of enemies along the way.

As they started working the case, Beckett and Castle didn’t even realize that his daughter, Alexis, was involved. When they found her cell phone and it came together, Castle started to fall apart. Beckett was by his side to help him hold it together.

Nathan Fillion’s performance in this episode impressed Screen Rant, as did the work of Molly C. Quinn as his daughter. Alexis proved capable, stealing away enough to get a call in to Castle. While Castle was urging her to run away from her captors, the agents involved in the case discovered something unsettling. The call originated from a cell phone tower in Paris.

Evidence implicates Chinese government in hacking attacks against U.S.

You’ll have to be living under a rock to have missed the hoopla this year about alleged Chinese hackers attacking – and sometimes infiltrating – American media companies and other such businesses. The New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal have all stated this year that they were the target of attacks that originated from China. Although it has long been speculated that the Chinese government is responsible, evidence has now been revealed that confirms this.

According to the New York Times, American security firm Mandiant will be releasing a 60-page report detailing a link between the Chinese hacking groups and the Chinese government. In particular, the attacks are believed to originate from an office building near Shanghai, the functioning HQ for the People’s Liberation Army Unit 61398.

The Chinese government still adamantly denies the allegations, but Mandiant’s founder Kevin Mandia puts it into perspective. “Either they are coming from inside Unit 61398, or the people who run the most controlled, most-monitored Internet networks in the world are clueless about thousands of people generating attacks from this one neighborhood.”

According to a source who spoke with the Times, multiple security agencies and all intelligence agencies within in the United States believe that the Chinese hacking groups from which these attacks originate are either working as contractors for Unit 61398, or are being run by the military. Although evidence shows that one of the hacking groups in question – Command Crew – was not responsible for attacking the Times, it does show several other targets that have been affected, including such big names as Coca-Cola, as well as more important targets, such as the infrastructure that controls our electricity, water, and gas.

Samsung unveils Galaxy Camera Wi-Fi, drops both 3G/4G and price

Samsung’s Galaxy Camera is a beautiful merging of point-and-shoot digital cameras and mobile devices, combining Android and a touchscreen with a camera that far surpasses those of smartphones. Today, the Korean company has announced the Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Camera, which drops both mobile broadband and the price tag, offering users who want a more budget-friendly option with no need for on-to-go connectivity an option.

The Galaxy Camera Wi-Fi is the same as the previously-released model, except that it lacks a 3G/4G mobile connection and instead offers dual-band wifi. Obviously, this means those who purchase this model won’t have the advantage of being able to share their images no matter where they’re located, instead having to rely on a wireless Internet connection. Still, for many users this isn’t a big deal, and so the drop in price is a nice perk.

The Galaxy Camera features a 16.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 23mm wide-angle lens, and 21x optical zoom. The ISO range is 100 to 3200 in addition to an auto option. The camera saves images in JPEG format, allowing images taken at 12-megapixels, 2-megapixels, and 1-megapixel to have a wide-screen aspect ratio. Movies can be recorded in full 1080p HD at 30fps, and at 768 x 512 in slow motion (120fps).

As for the Android aspect of the Galaxy camera, there’s a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear display and a 1.4GHz quad-core processor. Internal storage is 8GB, but there’s a microSD slot with support for SDSC, SDHC, and SDXC for more storage space. The camera runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and comes loaded with a host of Google services, including YouTube, Maps, Talk, Places, Chrome, and the Play Store, among others.

No word on pricing yet.

Barbie Digital Makeover Mirror

Barbie Digital Makeover Mirror Little girls have their toys as well, but here is something that you might want to check out for those who are more tech-oriented, with the unveiling of the Barbie Digital Makeover Mirror that happened at the International Toy Fair by Mattel just last week. This unique toy for the modern day girl will be able to be paired up with an iPad, where it sports a vanity mirror that delivers augmented reality play. This allows little girls to try on different shades of lipstick, eye shadow and glitter, all without having to use up mom’s supply, and more importantly, not to make a mess out of things.

The Barbie Digital Makeover Mirror does seem to be a decent tool to use in makeup stores too, don’t you think so? After all, it allows consumers to try on different products, seeing how it looks on them before they make the final purchase decision. Not only that, it sure as heck saves a whole lot on tissue paper and makeup remover, since one is able to wipe it off easily and start again. The Barbie Digital Makeover Mirror will retail for $69.99 a pop as it goes on sale this August.

‘Kourtney & Kim Take Miami’: Kourtney Slaps Kim’s Best Friend Across The Face (VIDEO)

Kourtney Kardashian didn’t hold back, slapping Jonathan hard across the face on the latest episode of “Kourtney & Kim Take Miami.” What pushed her to this? She and Jonathan started getting into it when he butted into an argument Kourtney was having with Kim.

She started hitting below the belt, so Jonathan followed suit. “You’re shoved so far up Kim’s ass,” Kourtney told him. “You’re such a f*cking loser.”

Jonathan’s retort was just as scathing. He said, “At least my job is not collecting Kim’s money as it falls out of her ass. Without Kim, you’d be nothing!”

Microsoft Outlook Arrives To Hotmail’s Demise

Microsoft Outlook Arrives To Hotmail’s DemiseA quick show of hands here – how many of you actually still have a Hotmail account, and are you still maintaining it, or is it full of spam? Well, after months of testing out Outlook.com in beta, Microsoft has finally deemed it fit to open up their new Web mail service to the masses. Apart from that, the Hotmail brand name which has been in service for so long, will no longer be in use, where users will be “upgraded”, so to speak, to the new Outlook.com service. However, fret not, as Hotmail users will still be able to retain use of their Hotmail email address.

Dharmesh Mehta, senior director of product management for Outlook.com and SkyDrive, said, “It’s not a light brand decision. I don’t know of any other company that has hundreds of thousands of users and has changed the brand name. But this is something new, an opportunity to set us up for the future.”

What do you think entire Hotmail riding into the sunset? Should Microsoft have retained the Hotmail brand after all this while?
