Sexuality is perhaps the most intimate way one can relate to another human being. This sacred dimension ought not be repressed or oppressed. To deny others access to their full flourishing, to a relationship of intimate union, is to deny their very humanity.

Opera confirms downsizing of developer team as it readies for newly adopted WebKit era
Posted in: Today's ChiliOpera’s been making quite a few notable changes lately, and now we’re finding out it won’t be without any repercussions to some of its staff. Earlier today, Opera CEO Lars Boilsen’s confirmed to our friends over at TechCrunch that the browser’s developer team is indeed downsizing, confirming previous reports about the company having to make changes as part of its recently announced WebKit adoption. Just how many Core positions will be lost in the process is still unclear, however, with Mr. Boilsen only going as far as telling TechCrunch the number of developers working on the overall project is now at “around 600.” What’s more, Opera’s CEO says it’s all part of a belief that “WebKit’s good enough, to switch, and by doing that we free up a lot of resources,” adding that Opera “will still have a Core team but it will be less people going forward.”

For all Samsung Galaxy S4 enthusiasts, here’s a new rumor regarding the Wifi capability of the device. The S4 is rumored to have 802.11ac WiFi technology, also known as 5G Wifi. 5G Wifi is pretty fast, with speeds comparable to wired connection. The device will apparently have the Broadcom BCM4335 chip, which has 802.11ac Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0 and FM radio technology incorporated in one chip. (more…)

If you’re familiar with The Pirate Bay, then you should know many of the torrents that are hosted on the site are films, music and programs whose copyrights are most likely being infringed upon when you consider they’re being shared across the Internet as freely as a stick of bubblegum. That’s why when we heard The Pirate Bay is announcing it would sue anti-piracy organization CIAPC for copyright infringement, we absolutely didn’t take it serious.
It looks as though The Pirate Bay is completely serious about its defense of the websites copyrights as a spokesperson for the site said “stealing material like this on the internet is a threat to economies worldwide.” The site is alleging CIAPC copied its design for a campaign website that features a sinking pirate ship.
The Pirate Bay is asking the Finnish police’s Economic Crime unit to help investigate the copyright violations of the CIAPC in hopes of making a point that “while The Pirate Bay may have a positive view on copying, it will not stand by and watch copyright enforcing organizations disrespect copyright.”

In a move that’s making as clear a statement as can be made without outright saying the final word, Ubuntu has set up a timer with the words “tick, tock, tablet time” attached, lining up perfectly with the HTC event tomorrow morning. If there’s one thing that’s clear in the world of technology news reporting, it’s that there’s no such thing as a coincidence – and never more than in situations such as these. The doors open at 9:15 AM EST for a 10AM start in New York City – Ubuntu’s reveal looks to be set for the event’s start.
We saw a demonstration of the Ubuntu mobile operating system earlier this year at CES 2013 and found it to be interesting, if not titillating enough to want to use on an otherwise Android-based smartphone in the near future. At the moment that operating system is working quite well on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, a device that otherwise would be running the most basic Google-only stripped-down version of Android. Because both systems have very similar roots, Ubuntu is able to be hacked in quite easily.
You’ll also want to know that Ubuntu already has a bit of software you can run on your Android device easily: Ubuntu for Android. This software (as shown in the demo video below) allows you to work in a familiar Android UI when your on your smartphone and a lovely desktop mode when you’re connected to a larger screen with your HDMI-out (or whatever mirroring method you generally work with.) This would be the perfect jumping-off point for an Ubuntu tablet.
But what’s the point of all this if it’s closed-source? What we’r hoping-against-hope for here is a real-deal open environment the likes of which HTC has been warming up to over the past couple of years. If HTC’s Bootloader Unlock initiative is any indication, we’ll likely see more open and free excellence in the very near future. Sound alright to you?
Also note – HTCGlobal posted a picture earlier today of a set of covered devices, each of them rather small save for one nearest the camera. Is that an Ubuntu tablet we see? Could be! Join us tomorrow when the countdown clock is up right here on SlashGear – we’ll be live from both New York City and London – double coverage for all!

Nowadays, we use words like “twitter” all the time to talk about our everyday social meda-ing. In the 1800s, they said “twitter” too, but it meant something a little different. So did “pin.” The times, they have a-changed. More »
Throughout the years, medical technology has been delivering some amazing advances as we’ve seen a man run with blades for legs in the London Olympics and earlier this year, a truly Bionic Man.
This weekend, a report was published that highlighted the first bionic hand where the amputee could feel what they were touching, which is expected to be transplanted into a 20-something year old patient living in Rome. The bionic hand will be connected into the patient’s nervous system, which doctors are hoping the patient is then able to control the hand’s movements as well as receive touch signals from skin sensors installed on the hand.
