Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 may head to Europe in March

There is another report that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will be heading to Europe by the end of March. The device will be heading to Bulgaria with a price tag that will compete directly with the likes of the iPad Mini. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will come in 3 variants: Wi-Fi only, 3G + Wi-FI, and 3G + LTE + Wi-Fi. You will also have the option to choose from a 16 GB or 32 GB version of each.

The price will be around 699 leva in Bulgaria, which comes to around 358 euros, or $478.93. That’s the price for the 16GB Wi-Fi version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, the cheapest model. The 3G + Wi-Fi version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will be around 869 leva, so about 445 euros, or $595.32. It can also be assumed that the pricing for the tablet should be the same throughout the other European countries as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is rumored to have an 8-inch 1280 x 800 TFT (Super Clear LCD) display, 1.6GHz Exynos 4412 quad-core processor, 16 or 32GB built-in storage with a microSD card slot, 2GB of RAM, 5MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 4,600 mAh battery, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Samsung will officially announce the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 next week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. So with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 heading to Europe around the end of March, we should be looking at U.S. release date sometime in April. It’ll be nice to see how well the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will compare against the iPad Mini.

Sam Raimi, ‘Spider-Man’ Director, On Watching ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’: ‘I Haven’t Had The Guts’

After the success of Sam Raimi’s trilogy of Spider-Man films, it seemed like a no-brainer that the series would continue, considering everyone involved seemed willing to do so. The problem was, reportedly, that Sony wanted a 2011 release date and Raimi felt he couldn’t deliver a quality product before that date. The fourth “Spider-Man” was canceled, replaced with a 2012 reboot, “The Amazing Spider-Man,” directed by Marc Webb.

On Sunday, we spoke to Raimi who is promoting his new film, “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” (The full interview will publish closer to the film’s March 8 release.) While discussing a host of topics (“For Love of the Game” and “A Simple Plan” were discussed at length), the subject turned to Spider-Man. Specifically, if he had had a chance to see Marc Webb’s new interpretation.

I remember a quote about how you were concerned about how you introduced Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man 3.” Stacy is introduced first in the new version. Have you seen “The Amazing Spider-Man”?

New Nokia Lumia Handsets Coming Our Way?

New Nokia Lumia Handsets Coming Our Way?With Mobile World Congress 2013 kicking off shortly, we are all ready and raring to go, but until then, we do expect a fair number of leaks and surprises head our way. One of the later rumors would involve a quartet of new Nokia Lumia handsets that are in the pipeline, where these were spotted in one of the logs of one ad network that serves up Windows Phone apps. A couple of the models are more or less confirmed, and they are the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520, carrying model numbers RM-885 and RM-814, respectively. After all, these two have been spotted in regulatory paperwork in the past as well.

As for the remaining two handsets, they remain pretty much mysterious, being known as the RM-887 and RM-860. The latter does seem to be a fan of Verizon, and the former could very well be leaning on the back of Verizon’s network as well. Well, whatever the case is, we admit that we are stoked to see just what Nokia has in store for the masses at MWC 2013 next week, how about you?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Reveal Coming March 14 [Rumor]

Samsung Galaxy S4 Reveal Coming March 14 [Rumor]

By now, we know how excited you Android users are for the next Samsung Galaxy S4 as any bit of new information regarding the device may receive more attention than it should. Based on a number of reports, we can safely say the Galaxy S4 will launch this spring with an expected unveiling some time in March with the device available for sale in April.

We originally reported on a rumor Samsung will plan to unveil its Galaxy S4 on March 15th, but it looks like we may be hearing more about the device one day earlier according to industry insider Eldar Murtazin.

Murtazin tweeted the following message earlier today:

“Save the date for a big announcement – March 14 Samsung Galaxy S4 Reveal Coming March 14 [Rumor] And keep silence Samsung Galaxy S4 Reveal Coming March 14 [Rumor]

Of course, Murtazin’s message doesn’t automatically confirm that date, although it certainly should be a date on your calendar you should pay close attention to as he’s been correct on these kinds of things more often than not. If he’s hearing March 14 is the big day for Samsung’s announcement, then we can only hope Murtazin is right once again.

China to surpass US to become largest smartphone market

China is said to pass the US to become the world’s largest smartphone market, with 246 million Android and iOS devices predicted to be activated by the end of February. Back in January, the US and China were nearly neck and neck, with 222 million devices for the US and 221 million for China. This will mark the first time China has taken the crown.

Compared to China’s 246 million, the US will see 230 million devices by the end of the month, but it won’t be enough to keep its title over China. The US has seen ups and downs over the past two years, while China has continued to see exponential growth since January 2011. And at this point, it doesn’t look like the US will be able to retake the top spot either, according to Flurry.

The vast difference in population between the two countries is one of the biggest reasons for China’s overtaking. The country has over 1.3 billion residents, compared to the US’s 310 million. Granted, the US has a higher percentage of smartphones compared to the total population, but we’re merely just talking about total smartphone devices.

Flurry notes that the only other country that could possibly overtake China in the future is India. The country has a population of just over 1.2 billion, and that could put some serious competition in the way of China. However, India only has 19 million active devices, so it may be a few years before India catches up with China, if ever.

Samsung Series 9 Review (NP900)

Samsung Series 9 Review (NP900)
The Samsung Series 9 2012 (aka NP900) is presented by Samsung as a laptop line that “pushes the envelope”, and the company has certainly up the ante by introducing a new design that is 20% thinner and more robust than the original Series 9 laptop (the 900X, which I owned and use one for about 12 months). The changes are quite obvious from the outside: this year’s model has directly accessible USB ports and the whole design is simply better in general. In fact, this is one of the nicest laptop design on the market, and in the 15″ category, there is simply nothing like it. It looks good on paper, but how is it in the real world? In this review, I will go over the look and feel, the system performance and the battery life to tell you how it really is to use one of those. (more…)

SpaceJustin Robot Fixes Your Satellite While Looking Cool

SpaceJustin Robot Fixes Your Satellite While Looking CoolSending up a satellite into space is one thing, but should something go wrong with it, then fixing it is going to be a whole lot trickier than expected. After all, it is not as though you can just drive up to space and check things out, can you? Sending another human up there is going to be a costly endeavor, so why not get a robot to do the job instead? A robot will not complain about low wages, and neither will it tire out, and this is where the cool looking SpaceJustin the Space Robot comes in handy.

SpaceJustin is still a work in progress, but it is said to be revolutionary in a sense where you can feel with your own hands what the robotic hand is touching, and see from SpaceJustin’s eyes. Not only can the SpaceJustin robot be operated remotely, it can also send feedback to the user, making SpaceJustin the ideal candidate down the road to repair satellites, operate switches or exchange modules, especially in hostile environments to humans like space.

Robot Octopus Developed By Army

Robot Octopus Developed By ArmyThe Army certainly wants to get ahead of the competition where cool devices are concerned, and this time around, they will continue to use nature as their source of inspiration, creating self-sealing suction cups for robots that are similar in nature to those you find on an octopus. This unique design hails from the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, Edgewood Chemical Biological Center and University of Maryland scientists, where it boasts of a self-sealing component as well as the ability to activate suction cups in reaction to the size and shape of the object that the robot intends to pick up.

I sure hope as heck that it works reliably at all times and circumstances, otherwise carrying some weighty items over the heads of soldiers who are bunked in their respective foxholes would have a bloody and sad ending should the suction cups fail halfway through the task. Good to know that these suction cups are said to carry the potential of working even more efficiently when underwater, similar to an actual octopus, as additional pressure from the water depth will add force, while enhancing the efficacy of the technology.

Surface Pro Runs OS X?

Back in the day when Apple and Microsoft were bitter rivals where the desktop operating system was concerned, it was deemed sacrilegious to see Windows running on a Mac machine. In fact, at one point in time, when Windows could boot up officially on Apple machines, many people were still not used to the idea nor sight of it. Having said that, we are now well into the 21st century, and both companies have synergized rather well over the past few years. This time around, we have a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet that instead of running on Windows 8, it will have OS X as the operating system of choice.

After all, the hardware parts and components within the Surface Pro are compatible with some of the Apple devices out there, so it makes perfect sense for an enthusiast with too much time on his/her hands to come up with an OS X port that is accompanied by a bunch of minor tweaks. WiFi connectivity, however, does not seem to be working fine, and of course, this video could very well be an elaborate hoax – so we will just wait it out. What do you think?
