Darrin Grinder: George Washington’s Christian (?) Faith

Many of today’s Christians would argue that a Christian is one who “accepts Jesus as a personal savior,” and for that there is absolutely no evidence in Washington’s life.

Rally Fighter is first crowdsourced car

We might be a wee bit slow on this, the Rally Fighter, but it is still a cool piece of news to cover nonetheless. Just what the heck is so special about the Rally Fighter that you see above? Apart from a rather interesting name to fall back upon, this could very well be the ride that makes history, considering how it is the first crowdsourced vehicle that is the dream of Local Motors. Local Motors comprises of a group of designers, engineers and fabricators, where all of them share ideas communally, and this is their first creation ever.

The Rally Fighter was designed by art student Sangho Kim, and underneath the hood, she is all muscle to belie what’s is on the surface. Powered by a massive 6.2 liter V8 engine that churns out a whopping 430 ponies, you will also be able to throw in standards add-ons such as leather interiors, satellite navigation and power windows. Of course, the asking price is rather steep, as we are looking at $74,900, and since she is crowdsourced, you will need to ensure that the relevant funds are in place before the Rally Fighter is put together by the folks over at the Local Motors Phoenix Micro-Factory.

CRKT Knife Sharpener Key Ring

You know the Boy Scouts – they want to make sure that they remain prepared at all times, as you can never quite tell just what might happen at a particular point in our current time-space continuum that requires you to react correctly to the situation. Having said that, not all key rings are created equal, and Thinkgeek makes sure this particular point is driven across with the $16.99 CRKT Knife Sharpener Key Ring. Yes sir, who would have thought that something as humble and ordinary as a key ring could come in handy during knife-sharpening emergencies?

This will not only hold the rest of your precious keys together, but will also double up as a multi-tool keychain. While it is full well capable of sharpening knives anywhere and everywhere you are, it will be unable to sharpen fabled metals like mithril and Wolverine would also be in a spot as it will not work on his adamantium-bonded claws. The other tools that make up part of it will Include a bottle cap opener, flat blade driver, and belt cutter.

Final Fantasy 10 For PS Vita Screenshots Revealed

Final Fantasy 10 For PS Vita Screenshots RevealedIt has been a couple of years since it was announced that Final Fantasy 10 would be arriving on the Sony PlayStation Vita. Unfortunately after that announcement, not much else has been heard or revealed, at least until today when Famitsu managed to get their hands on what looks like Final Fantasy 10 screenshots on the PS Vita. The photos are a little bit blur, suggesting that what we are looking at could be either print outs or photos of the screenshots, as opposed to actual in-game screen captures. However if you were hoping to hear more about the game, that does not appear to be the case as it seems that despite the screenshots managing to make their way across the internet, there is still on word on the details of the game, nor when exactly will it be released. In any case considering the popularity of Final Fantasy 10, let’s hope that the Vita version will manage to retain the experience, or perhaps even enhance it. We’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled for more news, so stay tuned for updates.

Interactive map shows all of Apple’s suppliers

If you think about companies that supply Apple with components for its various products such as the iPhone, iPad, and others it’s easy to only think of China. Major Chinese manufacturing partners for Apple take most of the headlines such as Foxconn and others. However, Apple receives components for various products from multiple locations around the world.

David M Barreda from ChinaFile recently compiled a map using data from the updated list of suppliers that Apple released last month. This particular report offers the major manufacturing locations of suppliers providing raw materials and components or who perform final assembly for Apple products. The report is only the second time that Apple has released detailed information on suppliers, including addresses.

While Apple gets most of its components and final assembly from China and other locations within Asia, there are a number of suppliers outside of Asia. Apple lists 748 suppliers, and 600 of them are in Asia. 331 of those suppliers are located in mainland China. However, there are also a number of suppliers within the United States.

Apple lists 26 suppliers on the West Coast, 19 suppliers in the central US, and 37 suppliers on the East Coast. Apple also has 41 suppliers located in Europe and five in the Middle East. The map the publication created is very interesting and allows you to drill down on each continent that has multiple suppliers and find for those individual suppliers are located. For instance, drilling down in the data allows you to discover that Apple has a supplier located in Cheshire, Hazel Grove in the UK called NXP Semiconductor N.V.

LG Display invests $655 million to expand OLED HDTV mass production next year

LG Display invests $655 million to expand OLED HDTV mass production next year

Sure, LG’s current 55-inch OLED HDTV is pretty pricey with a US MSRP of $12K, but that may start to change next year when panel supplier LG Display kicks its new 8G production line into full gear. LG Electronics holds a 38 percent stake in the company and although it supplies screens to many others as well, the next generation of 55EM9700s will likely be a large segment of the displays produced. Although LCD manufacturers ramped up 8G facilities capable of producing six 55-inch displays from one piece of glass in the late 2000s, oversupply caused prices to drop and manufacturing to slow down, including at LG Display.

Now, new display technology is ramping up investment again, which will see this new line installed at its P9 plant in Paju, South Korea at a cost of 706 billion won ($655 million). Based on LG’s WRGB OLED evaporation process, it should be capable of working with as many as 26,000 input sheets per month once it’s up to full speed in the first half of 2014. Chief competitor Samsung showed off “production” OLED HDTVs last year and plenty of demo units at CES with a mid-year release planned, we’ll see if it manages to keep up before / if the tech goes mainstream.

Man Sets Q*bert World Record For Hours Played And Highest Score

Man Sets Q*bert World Record For Hours Played And Highest ScoreWe’ve heard of gamers playing games for hours on end, amounting to days even, and it looks like those habits don’t look to be breaking anytime soon as according to reports, it seems that two players tried to beat a world record by playing classic arcade game, Q*bert, for as long as they could. The previous record was set by Ed Heemskerk back in 2012 where he played a record time of 68.5 hours. The new record on the other hand has been set by George Leutz who managed to clock as impressive (and extremely unhealthy) 84 hours and 48 minutes of gameplay, racking up a new world record score of 37,163,080! Leutz has managed to break two world records in the process, with the previous high score being set at 33,273,520 in 1983. While we have to admit that these feats of endurance are pretty impressive, we can only imagine how much toll that can take on the body. After all if you have been following gaming news, you’ve probably heard of how some players collapse, and some even die, from playing video games for too long without taking a break.
