Child Swallows 42 Magnets That Were On Refrigerator In Russia (PHOTO)

All babies are beautiful but this one is damn attractive.

When a Russian mother noticed a “large shortage” of magnets from her refrigerator, she pinned her 16-month-old son as the culprit. Except the boy hadn’t just taken the magnets off the kitchen fridge– he’d swallowed them, according to the Austrian Times

Doctors had to surgically remove an alarming 42 toy magnets from the baby’s stomach on Tuesday, said spokesman Olga Terekhina in a Chelyabinsk Oblast Children’s Hospital announcement.

GameStick Pre-Orders Now Available For $79

GameStick Pre Orders Now Available For $79

GameStick ended its Kickstarter campaign two weeks ago, and today, it looks like its creators, PlayJam, are moving along to the next step of its release as it’s now available for pre-order.

The pre-order website for the GameStick offers the GameStick and its controller in white for $79, a GameStick Dock for $24.99 and a GameStick case for $9.99. Those who pre-order their GameStick will need to wait for those who backed PlayJam’s Kickstarter campaign to receive their orders first, which are expected to start shipping in April.

As of now, there are no plans to bring the GameStick to retailers, unlike its Android-console competitor, the Ouya, which is expected to be made available for sale at select retailers starting in June. Seeing how small the GameStick and controller will be compared to the Ouya, we wouldn’t be surprised if it made its way to retailers as well. Until that day comes, those who are interested in the GameStick should visit its web store to place their pre-order or buy any of its additional accessories. Just don’t plan on buying additional controllers at this point since they’re currently unavailable.

When the meteorite entered the Earth’s atmosphere at around 9:20 a.m. local time, it flew across the sky at 33,000 mph and broke into pieces 18 to 32 miles above ground, according to a statement released by the Russian Academy of Sciences. (more…)

We’re Safe! The Asteroid Goes Away

We are safe! We knew we were going to be safe, but now we know we are safe. Which is a lot nicer, don’t you think? Now all the paranoids can relax, sit back, look at the sky and wave goodbye to 2012 DA14 as it leaves us at five miles per second. More »

Project Ayr: The Art Deco HTPC

Many people have a home theater PC sitting right next to their HDTVs. It’s not always the best-looking solution to manage your media, but oftentimes it’s the most functional. There’s no reason why your HTPC should look ugly. Check out this awesome design that Jeffrey Stephenson came up with.

project ayr fanless htpc

Project Ayr is a fanless home theater PC that’s encased in an Art Deco-inspired mahogany shell. It’s definitely a nice retro style case and would look great sitting in your living room. Inside the wooden case, which has an aluminum frame, there’s an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, an Intel Cherryville SSD, 150W Pico PSU and an illuminated Silverstone HE02 passive heatsink, which occupies the majority of the case, and is cleverly integrated into the design.

Jeffery states that his custom design is “a solid state, fanless, no-moving-parts, dead silent home theater PC,” cutting down on the drone of fans while Jeff watches his favorite movies.
