Chrome Plated Nokia Lumia 900 Is Fancy Looking

Chrome Plated Nokia Lumia 900 Is Fancy LookingPerhaps one of the drawbacks to Windows Phone devices is that they don’t feel as premium compared to iPhones or certain Android phones. We guess this helps to keep costs down, but at the same time they just don’t feel very luxurious. So what’s a guy got to do in order to make their Lumia device look “expensive?” Chrome it up, of course! This is pretty much what Nokia ambassador George Salcedo did when he managed to find a place where they would be able to “chrome plastic”, and the photo you see above are the results of his search and effort.

According to the folks at WPCentral who managed to check the handset out at MWC, the result is a chrome Nokia Lumia 900 device which weighs quite a bit. Considering that the original Lumia 900 wasn’t exactly a lightweight to begin with, the addition of chrome might strain some pockets. We’re not sure how much this cost Salcedo but we have to admit it looks pretty cool. So, who wouldn’t mind getting their Lumia device “chromed”?

Nokia’s Stephen Elop Believes Windows Phone Will Be The Biggest

Nokias Stephen Elop Believes Windows Phone Will Be The BiggestAs far as the smartphone operating system is concerned, both iOS and Android reign supreme, and considering the difference in market share, Blackberry 10 and Windows Phone are a long way from catching up or taking over. Unsurprisingly Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop remains optimistic and he believes that Windows Phone can become the biggest mobile operating system and that Nokia and Microsoft are working together to make that happen. This was revealed in an interview with Bloomberg where Elop was asking if Windows Phone could be the second biggest OS in the world. With Microsoft and Nokia working together as partners, we guess Elop was somewhat obligated to say that he believes Windows Phone will come out on top.

However with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 920 back in 2012, many carriers and retailers were reporting that the device was selling pretty well, leading us to believe that Windows Phone might have a shot. Unfortunately compared to Android, Windows Phone is not as varied and with the hardware limitations, on paper they do not look as powerful as their iOS or Android competitors. Hopefully that will change in the future, but what do you guys think? Do you see Windows Phone coming out on top in the future?

Stick-N-Find Technologies updates its tracking system

Back in November of last year, we talked a bit about the Stick-N-Find object tracking system. The system uses little Bluetooth-enabled stickers that you can adhere to just about anything from your keys to your smartphone to your notebook allowing you to find it if you lose it. The system also has a number of other functionalities allowing you to perform other tasks.

At Mobile World Congress 2013, the company behind Stick-N-Find announced that it had updated system making it more precise and more useful. The updated system offers precise radar resolution allowing users to pinpoint stickers within 2 inches of the sticker location. The radar display will show every stickered item in your vicinity.

The system has an extended range that now reaches up to 150 feet. The manufacturer says that it achieved this extended range using a custom designed antenna and a proprietary mix to create a non-absorbent plastic casing. The app for the system has also been redesigned.

The redesign app is easier to use and allows you to find your lost devices, activate the radar, check the temperature, and activate the leash functionality. The new system will begin shipping next week, a full month ahead of schedule. This product raised the funding to come to market the Indiegogo.

Japanese court declares Samsung patent invalid in another spat with Apple

Japanese court declares Samsung patent invalid in another spat with Apple

Weary of the neverending legal back-and-forth between Apple and Samsung yet? No, we’re not either (that’s a terrible lie), and the latest exciting development comes from a courtroom in Japan, where it was decided Samsung does not hold rights to certain data transmission tech it accused Apple of pinching. So, what are the repercussions? None, really — the status quo remains unchanged, and Apple can continue selling the products Sammy wanted off the shelf. The Times of India notes that cases in the US and South Korea over the same patent have gone one a piece, meaning Apple is up 2-1 in this particular bout. But, when you’ve been battling for this long, you’ve bound to win some, and lose just as many.

Stranger Gifts A Player With Starcraft 2: Heart Of The Swarm In An Act Of Kindness

Stranger Gifts A Player With Starcraft 2: Heart Of The Swarm In An Act Of KindnessWhen playing games online with other players, friendships can be formed without having to meet the other player face to face. This could come from a mutual respect of each other’s skill, or perhaps either player finds the other equally entertaining. So what do you do when you find a friend you’ve enjoyed playing Starcraft 2 with but find out they cannot afford the upcoming expansion, Heart of the Swarm? According to a post on Reddit, it seems that GaybBaby found themselves $70 richer thanks to a donation to their PayPal account by someone called Richard.

The message sent along with the donation basically said that during a ladder match in which both players played together, GaybBaby stated that he did not have enough buy to buy Heart of the Swarm, and in an act of kindness, Richard thought he’d buy the game for him. Faith in humanity? Restored! Have you experienced similar acts of kindness during your online gameplay?

Real Racing 3 Launches On iOS And Android, Adopts Freemium Model

If we did not know any better, looking at the screenshots of Real Racing 3 one would assume that the game belongs on the console. However if you have played its previous iterations, you know that the Real Racing franchise is actually a mobile game for both iOS and Android devices. The good news is that if you have been eagerly waiting for Real Racing 3, you might be pleased to learn that the game is now available in the iTunes App Store and Google Play. Even better news is that the game is free, unlike its previous two versions which were paid apps.

Unfortunately the free app means that the game has essentially adopted the freemium model. For those unfamiliar, the freemium model basically makes games free of charge, but its developers make money by selling in-game items that help the player advance. Ultimately this could cost the player more money than they would have spent had they bought the game at full price. As far as Real Racing 3 is concerned, the freemium model takes the form of wait times during repairs, upgrades, and vehicle unlocks, all of which can be sped up by purchasing gold coins. Personally I am not a fan of the freemium model, but to each their own, right? [iTunes App Store] [Google Play]
