Lawrence Krauss, Physicist, Claims Teaching Creationism Is Child Abuse And ‘Like The Taliban’ (VIDEO)

An outspoken theoretical physicist in Arizona has made a strongly worded claim about teaching children creationism instead of evolution.

Lawrence Krauss, a professor at Arizona State University, said teaching creationism is akin to a mild form of child abuse and that it mirrors the tactics of the Taliban.

Krauss made the comments Tuesday on an episode of “The David Pakman Show.”

To The NBA, With Love

I heart the NBA. Some of it, anyway. OK, a good bit. It’s Valentine’s Day and I’m here to shoot my arrow in the league’s direction, and to my pleasant surprise, there are more targets than I realized.

TomTom Rider motorcycle GPS gets refresh, for those born to be guided

TomTom Rider motorcycle GPS gets refresh, for those born to be guided

It seems a safe bet that any contemporary Easy Rider reboot would be vastly different from its predecessor. For one thing, there’s the whole GPS thing to contend with — and surely there’d be a little friendly product placement in the form of the TomTom Rider (New Orleans isn’t gonna find itself, after all). The company has updated its long-running motorcycle GPS line to feature a new 4.3-inch “glove-friendly” weatherproof display and the ability to create, upload and share routes via Bluetooth. Bluetooth functionality also makes it possible to get in-helmet audio directions, so you don’t have to stare down at that screen the whole time (when you should be looking at the, you know, road). And for those who don’t like the straight and narrow path, there’s the Winding Roads to help you find routes with more bends. The Rider is currently listed at £329.99 ($511) for pre-order.

9 Countries With A Higher Minimum Wage Than The U.S.

Minimum-wage workers make more money working in France or Australia than they do in the United States.

At $7.25 per hour, the federal minimum wage in the U.S. is lower than it is in many other developed countries, either when calculated as a percentage of the country’s median wage or when adjusted for currencies’ different levels of purchasing power, according to data from the International Labor Organization and OECD, respectively.

The latest push for a wage hike for America’s lowest-paid workers from President Barack Obama, who on Tuesday proposed raising the federal minimum wage to $9 per hour. But such an increase would still would leave the U.S. behind several countries.

Boy Scouts Maintains Gay Ban, But Accepts Convicted Criminals

The Boy Scouts of America might be adamantly against including gay members, but convicted criminals are another story.

The Human Rights Campaign recently obtained a Boy Scouts employment application and discovered that a criminal record apparently does not immediately preclude hiring.

“HRC obtained a copy of their job application, which says: ‘The Boy Scouts of America will not employ… known or avowed homosexuals,'” writes HRC. “The icing on top? ‘Conviction of a crime is not an automatic bar to employment’ according to the application. That’s right – a person’s sexual orientation is more of a red flag than their criminal record.”

Bigfoot DNA Tests Call Science Journal’s Credibility Into Question

Bigfoot is real … maybe.

After months of waiting for a peer-reviewed scientific journal to publish findings on the validity of alleged Bigfoot DNA evidence, the time has come for answers. But is there enough empirical evidence to finally confirm that the elusive, tall, hairy man-beast of North America really exists? Maybe, but questions have now been raised about the scientific journal publishing the findings.

In November, after a five-year study of purported Bigfoot (aka Sasquatch) DNA samples, Texas geneticist Melba Ketchum and a team of experts in genetics, forensics, imaging and pathology, were anxious for their findings to be published in a scientific journal. On Wednesday, their research appeared in the DeNovo Journal of Science, which seemed to confirm Ketchum’s research about the reality of Bigfoot.
