Minecraft: Day Blockers Is The Best Real-World Game Mashup We’ve Seen Yet

We’re sure, just like us, many of you are fans of Mojang’s Minecraft no matter where you play it. We’ve spent hours upon hours building our dream home by day while trying to stay safe from the enemies that tend to make their way across the world at night. But what if those enemies all of a sudden started coming out during the day?

A fan-made video called “Minecraft: Day Blockers” highlights this exact predicament and was published on YouTube yesterday. The fan-made video  combines the real-world with Minecraft’s 8-bit visuals seamlessly. Throughout the entire video, you’ll see the two Minecraft players attack their enemies with a diamond sword, a bow & arrow, and later on in the video, both. (more…)

‘Arrow’ Renewed: ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘Supernatural’ Also Returning For 2013-2014 Season

“Arrow” has been renewed for Season 2. In addition to the The CW’s breakout hit, the network also announced early pickups for “The Vampire Diaries” and “Supernatural.”

“We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit ‘Arrow’ and fan favorite ‘Supernatural’ on Wednesday night, and the continued success of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, said in a statement. “Not only do ‘Arrow’, ‘Supernatural,’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.”

Based on the DC Comics character “Green Arrow,” The CW’s “Arrow” has been one of the few hits of the 2012-2013 TV season. Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, a rich playboy by day and mysterious vigilante by night, the series premiere currently holds the title of The CW’s most-watched show with 4.3 million viewers.

Rand Paul: Ashley Judd ‘Doesn’t Really Represent Kentucky’ (VIDEO)

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) told CNN on Sunday that Hollywood actress and Democratic activist Ashley Judd “doesn’t really represent Kentucky.”

“When I heard Ashely Judd might run for office, I thought it was Parliament because she lives in Scotland half of the year,” Paul told CNN’s Candy Crowley.

In a bit of back-handed praise, Paul then said, “Ashley Judd is a famous actress, she’s an attractive woman, and presents herself well and from what I understand is articulate.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook to speak at Goldman Sachs Conference tomorrow

The Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference will host Apple CEO Tim Cook for the second year in a row. Apple updated its Investor webpage today to note the addition of the conference, which will be live streamed in an audio-only format starting tomorrow at approximately 10:15 am ET. At last year’s conference, Cook spoke about the tablet market and the company’s growth over the years.

Of course, it’s rare to have Cook speak at non-Apple events, and he only recently made his first television interview appearance after being at the CEO helm for over a year. Of course, this year’s talk at the Goldman Sachs conference could be a bit more interesting than last year’s appearance, considering that he’s been CEO for much longer this time around.

Obviously, we’re not expecting any product announcements during the session, but Cook may offer some insight into Apple and what products it has lined up for the future. He might not address all of the wild rumors going around, but he may be asked about them and could provide an answer that may stir up even more speculation.

Either way, Cook’s discussion should be fairly interesting, and this’ll be his first appearance since his television interview with NBC’s Brian Williams. That is, if you don’t count Apple’s quarterly earnings call last month, in which Cook rattled off numbers and statistics from the past quarter.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Preview Describes The Nature Of Chaos

Do you sense that? Winter is indeed coming this spring as HBO’s Game of Thrones will start its third season starting March 31. Seeing as we’re over a month away from Game of Thrones’ premier, HBO has started the hype train with a new 40 second preview.

The preview HBO published on the official Game of Thrones YouTube page is titled “Chaos” and highlights a number of important characters we were left with at the end of the show’s second season. Each character’s face is highlighted for a few seconds as Petyr Baelish describes the nature of chaos. “Chaos isn’t a pit,” he says. “Chaos is a ladder.” (more…)

Minecraft Pi Edition ready to download, offers pint-size play on a pint-size PC

Minecraft Pi Edition ready to play

Is Minecraft the new Doom? It feels that way, as it’s increasingly playable on every platform under the sun — including the finally available Raspberry Pi port. After a false start in December, Mojang has posted Minecraft: Pi Edition for consumption on the tiny ARM PC. The public release is a cut-down version of Pocket Edition that fits into the system’s limited resources, including networking if you’ve bought the $35 Raspberry Pi unit. The limitations reduce the chances that you’ll be creating virtual electronics with a device that was originally meant for very real electronics, but try not to let the irony sting: it’s a chance to create blocky virtual worlds on a computer that costs less than a good night on the town.
