Married Couple Up For Mars Trip?

Married Couple Up For Mars Trip?If you have been wondering just how you are going to make your second honeymoon a whole lot more special than the first, but have run out of great ideas simply because everyone else has done what you have thought up of, here is something which surely no one has accomplished before – going to the Red Planet, Mars. A married couple is being looked for in order to represent humanity on the first ever manned mission to Mars, which is set to be launched in 2018. Engaged couples who want to be in the running, you have 5 more years to get married before being eligible.

US millionaire tycoon Dennis Tito, who ended up being the first space tourist in 2001, decided to roll out an ambitious project that will see a couple of civilians sent on a historic 501 days return journey to Mars this coming January 2018. The entire project is not meant to land folks on Mars, but rather, to take full advantage of a rare planetary alignment which would open up a relatively easy, quick passageway around Mars.

Tito said, “When you’re out that far and the Earth is a tiny, blue pinpoint, you’re going to need someone you can hug. What better solution to the psychological problems you’re going to encounter with that isolation?” Of course, being stuck in such a small space, with no one being able to hear either of you scream, the couple could end up finding it difficult to share such a small space with no where to run when the going gets tough.

BigDog fourlegged robot adds an arm, shows it off for the scouts video

Of all the robots we fear will one day rise up and subjugate humanity to an unyielding reign of terror, none is closer to our hearts than Boston Dynamic’s awesome — and terrifying, as seen in its 2008 videoBigDog. This Army Research Laboratory-funded project that aims to navigate uneven terrain for up to 24 hours while carrying hundreds of pounds of equipment is showing off an all-new ability: throwing. In a tryout video (embedded after the break) that comes just a little too late for the NFL Combine, Boston Dynamics demonstrates how BigDog uses its arm to not only pick up an unsuspecting cinder block, but coordinate the strength of the legs and torso to step into a toss. The robot isn’t throwing 100mph heat just yet, but after previously displaying its horns, even this short teaser is adding a fresh twist to our nightmares.

Evernote updates iOS app, adds formatting options and improved PDF experience

Evernote has released a new update for its iOS app, taking it to version 5.2 and adding in a host of new and improved features. The improvements are particularly relevant to iPad users, offering improved functionality when viewing PDFs that Evernote boasts as providing a “much better” experience than the previous version. Likewise, the iPad version of the app has also gained a new Snippets feature.

1

Says Evernote, one of the things users like is having different note viewing options. Because of this, it has added a new Snippets feature to the iPad version of the app, allowing users to easily scan through their notes, flipping between months quickly and reducing the amount of time spent hunting for that list you wrote last July, for example. The Snippets view can be accessed by swiping down the upper part of the Notes list and tapping its icon.

Another big improvement is in PDF viewing, which is more refined than it has ever been. Version 5.2 contains an all new PDF viewer that offers a multi-page view along the bottom of the viewer, allowing readers to jump to any page in the document easily. Users can search within a PDF, with premium subscribers having the ability to search within a scanned document as well. There’s landscape view when turning the mobile device sideways, and rotation lock to keep it from shifting around when you change position.

Perhaps the best improvement, however, is the new formatting options, which includes two ways to remove formatting that is not wanted. This is nestled under the “A” option for iPhone users, and under “no-formatting” for iPad users. The options include Simplify Formatting for cleaning up formatting problems, while Plain Text is self-explanatory, removing all formatting and generating a plain text document.

Emma Watson As Cinderella? ‘Harry Potter’ Star Circling Fairy Tale Adaptation

Emma Watson may get fit for a glass slipper after all. Four years after Watson was loosely attached to star in a musical version of the classic fairy tale “Cinderella” for Marilyn Manson (file under: things that were real), Variety reports that Watson is in “very early talks” to play the role in a new film from Kenneth Branagh. Cate Blanchett would play Watson’s evil stepmother.

Fairy tale adaptations were all the rage after Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” exploded at the box office in 2010 (the film earned over $1 billion worldwide), but the recent adaptations have been hit and miss. Released last summer, “Snow White and the Huntsman” was a big success (nearly $400 million in global ticket sales), but other films like “Mirror Mirror” (based on Snow White) and “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” have failed to connect. “Jack the Giant Slayer,” a new take on “Jack and the Beanstalk,” is out Friday via Warner Bros., but the film is not tracking to earn much more than $30 million on opening weekend, a pittance compared to its massive budget.

Watson has kept very busy since playing Hermione in the “Harry Potter” franchise. She was praised last year for her role in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and stars next in “The Bling Ring” from director Sofia Coppola. Watson also filmed a role for Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah” (due in 2014) and is attached to play the co-title character in “Beauty and the Beast” for director Guillermo del Toro. That film would shoot this year.
