Keyport Slide 2.0 launches on Kickstarter

The Keyport Slide is not a new product. In fact, we have been talking about this little key consolidating gadget for years. But as of today we are seeing details of the follow up, appropriately dubbed the Keyport Slide 2.0. Except instead of a regular launch being done on the Keyport website, the company has chosen to do this as a Kickstarter project. The project still has 29 days remaining and is showing an expected delivery date of May 2013.

Without getting into whether or not this project will ship as expected, we can say that as of today it has almost 700 backers with a total pledged of $36,177 towards a goal of $75,000. Before we get to the Keyport Slide 2.0, lets begin with this, the Keyport Slide is a little gadget that consolidates your keys and other gadgets. Some of the other items include a bottle opener, flash light and even USB flash drive with up to 32GB of storage. Each Keyport can hold up to six items in total. Aside from consolidating keys and other little gadgets, the Keyport Slide has a nice recovery program — just in case you ever lose it.

Moving forward the Keyport Slide 2.0 will also have an option to add a pen. More important though, the Keyport Slide 2.0 is said to have been redesigned to be lighter, stronger, more customizable and more affordable. The customization will deal with colors as well as logo plates. According to details coming from the Kickstarter page, the funds will be used to “accelerate the production of 2.0.”

The pledge levels vary depending on what you need and/or are looking for. Perhaps the one most appealing would be the Keyport Slide 2.0 Tech Bundle (for $89) which give a Slide 2.0 in black, white or red along with a button set, flash light, 8GB flash drive and 4 standard key blades. Basically, enough to get started. You can always purchase extras from the Keyport website. Alternatively, there is an option for current Keyport owners — a $33 pledge level that will give you a Slide 2.0 and set of buttons.

Xbox 720 Expected To Be Unveiled In Early April [Rumor]

Xbox 720 Expected To Be Unveiled In Early April [Rumor]

It seems like it was literally two days ago when Sony finally unveiled its PlayStation 4 to the world, and even though its unveiling raised way more questions than answers, Sony officially made the first move to delivering their next-generation video game console. Now, all eyes are on Microsoft to play catch up and announce their next-generation Xbox, which according to a number of developers and other industry professionals, may come as soon as April.

In addition to the majority of the video game industry believing Microsoft plans on unveiling their next-generation Xbox in early April, it looks as through Ustechs, who is a platform holder who has worked with Microsoft on a number of media briefings, has registered the domain XboxEvent.com.

Both companies have normally shown off their next-generation consoles at E3, so holding media briefings outside of the show is something unique to this generation of consoles. When you consider how aggressive both companies have been with its products over the years, we can’t blame either Sony nor Microsoft for wanting to get the ball rolling on the next generation of game consoles as soon as possible.

Red HTC One Up For Pre-Order

Red HTC One Up For Pre OrderJust a couple of days ago, we talked up the HTC One that was spotted in a shade of red over on its website, before it was strangely removed with nary a beep from the folks over at HTC. Well, it seems that the red version of the HTC One is not a unicorn or a fantasy device, but rather, is very, very real, as it is now available for folks to place a pre-order over in the UK, with a targeted street date of March 15th. A bunch of mobile carriers including Vodafone and Three UK have already begun to put up offers for the new flagship from HTC, while other retailers have decided to offer an unlocked version for £510 ($780 after conversion), inclusive of taxes.

We are also led to believe, that the red version of the HTC One might end up being a limited edition device (which is “wasted” in a sense, as Valentine’s Day has just passed more than a week ago, where that could have been an occasion to promote the smartphone) for certain retailers or carriers. Ah well, only time will tell. Hey, how about us folks living Stateside? Will we, or will we not be getting a red HTC One down the road?

Nikon Laser Rangefinder Coolshot AS Targets Golfers

Nikon Laser Rangefinder Coolshot AS Targets GolfersDo you love all things that have to do with golf, and are always on the lookout for the next big gadget that will be able to up your game? How about if you are a golf widow and have long given up on your husband to quit golf so that he can spend his retirement years with you at the local Bingo club? Either way, you are still on the right track if you were to pick up the Nikon Laser Rangefinder Coolshot AS, which is the ideal device for folks who want to increase their golfing skill level. The Nikon Laser Rangefinder Coolshot AS is a rangefinder that will continue from where the 2012 model left off, sporting ID Technology to make its Golf Mode capable of displaying slope adjusted distance (horizontal distance ± height), assisting golfers where sloping courses are concerned.

With this bad boy, you are able to choose from four measurement display modes, where it will display height, horizontal distance and slope adjusted distance (horizontal distance ± height) as mentioned above, apart from actual distance, too. Caddies might start to shudder, but only those who work part time, as professionals would not want to look out of place with the Nikon Laser Rangefinder Coolshot AS in tow. It is waterproof up to 1m/3.3 ft. for 10 minutes, but this is meant more for use in light drizzles instead of bringing it with you underwater, as that would not make much sense at all.

Google Glass Coming In 2013 For Less Than $1,500

Google recently gave us a glimpse as to what Google Glass users can expect from their experience with the device once it’s released. The video really impressed us with how easily Google Glass will become integrated with our everyday lives as we’ll be able to take photos, record video and initiate hangouts with very little effort. We’re sure after you watched Google’s video, you shouted at your screen, “WHEN CAN I GET IT AND HOW MUCH SHEKELS WILL IT COST?!?”

Google has confirmed with The Verge today they plan to have a “fully-polished” version of Google Glass available to consumers by the end of 2013. As for how many shekels it will cost you, surprisingly it probably won’t break your bank account as it’ll go on sale for “less than $1,500.” We couldn’t be the only ones to have thought it would cost at least $5,000 for Google Glass, right?

If you would prefer not to wait until Google decides to make Google Glass available to the public to purchase, and you consider yourself a “creative individual,” you can proceed to pre-order the Explorer headset, although know that you’ll need to be approved by the company in order to actually purchase them. In other words, couch potatoes need not apply.

Xbox Live Games on Demand sale coming next week

If you’re an avid Xbox Live user, and prefer the convenience of downloading games instead of going to the store to buy them, you’re in luck. From February 26 to March 4, Microsoft is holding the “Ultimate Game Sale,” where they’ll be discounting a handful of popular Games on Demand titles, some of which are 85% off.

xbox-live

However, not all the games that will be on sale will be offered the whole time. In fact, Microsoft will only be offering a different set of titles each day, so it’s something where you’ll want to check back each day to see what’s on sale. However, there’s a complete list of games that will see discounts throughout the week — over 60 games total.

The list of games is actually really respectable. Most of them are AAA games, including Assassin’s Creed, the Batman Arkham series, BioShock, the Borderlands series, Call of Juarez, the entire Call of Duty series (except the first one), Dead Island, Fallout 3, several Halo titles, Left for Dead 2, and Max Payne 3.

Larry Hyrb (a.k.a. Major Nelson), the head of Xbox Live, will be posting about all the new deals on his Twitter feed, so be sure to follow him if you want exhaustive and thorough updates on the sale. He notes that Xbox’s Ultimate Game Sale only happens once a year, so if you’re even remotely interested in getting some great games at a discount, it might be worth checking out.

Nokia Catwalk To Be Super Svelte?

Nokia Catwalk To Be Super Svelte? So, Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia has come up with its fair share of devices in the past, and while they have been working pretty hard over the past couple of years to cement their position in the Windows Phone market, this does not mean that they have stopped innovating, despite rolling out the last Symbian-powered device a while ago. Informer “dsmobile” did mention that the up and coming Nokia Catwalk is going to be an extremely slim and good looking device, running on the Windows Phone platform, of course.

Apart from that, its seems that Nokia has already begun to work on a tablet case, although it will be a different manufacturer who will churn out the tablet itself. Having said that, this does not mean that Nokia will use Mobile World Congress that is happening early next week as the platform to deliver word on such a tablet. I personally think that this will occur much later down the road. How well do you think Nokia will fare when they finally decide to take the tablet plunge?
