Packing what appears to be a couple of bombs capable of wiping out a small city, this fighter jet-themed pendant light will hang from the ceiling and provide air superiority—and soft illumination—to any room. It requires six 40 watt bulbs in total—installed inside and outside the frosted fuselage and bombs—and when compared to the hundreds of millions of dollars the Air Force spends on fighters, $260 for this sounds like a bargain. In Japan, the culture of gift giving is very important, and nowhere is that as commonly seen as when people take trips. It is very important to come back with a souvenir (“omiyage”) from where your trip took you. Different food and other goods from overseas trips for the folks back home are important, but so are different regional foods from different regions in Japan.
Usually this means small specialty items only available in different regions of Japan. But big companies are …
Swedish Language Council drops ‘ungoogleable’ from new word list after legal pressure from Google
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe Swedish Language Council appeared on Google’s radar when it wanted to add the term ungoogleable (in Swedish, ogooglebar — yep) to a list of new words. The company didn’t want the word nixed, but redefined to reference Google directly and not just any general search engine — this was the initial meaning of the term. Lawyers got involved, but instead of battling in court, the Language council decided to drop the addition entirely, not due to the objection but to bring more input to the process and avoid any legal time (and money) being wasted. The head of the council, Ann Cederberg said that “it’s our use that gives it meaning — not a multinational company exerting pressure.” For now, at least, it looks like the definition is headed in the same direction of the one-time home of the Swedish Chef translator.

Gearbox Software recently announced its Borderlands 2 will be receiving an update that increases the game’s level cap, will introduce a new vault hunter as well as a new mode called “Vault Hunter’s Mode.” But if you consider yourself a true vault hunter, then you might want to check out this real-world limited edition Borderlands 2 diamond-plate loot chest.
The loot chest offers a combination of in-game and real-life loot that any vault hunter would love to get their hands on.
- Diamond Plate Loot Chest
- Loot Chest Certificate of Authenticity
- A rare vacuform Goliath mask w/ SHiFT code that unlocks the head in-game
- 20 Trading cards with SHiFT codes that unlock Legendary items in game
- Vault Hunters Wanted Poster
- Window Decals for Hyperion, Jakobs, Maliwan, and more
The main selling point of this chest would certainly be the chest itself, but considering there are some really great additional items in there, as well as a number of SHiFT codes that will equip your characters with legendary items, then its $99.99 price point doesn’t sound so terrible. Also, it’s being sold by ThinkGeek, which you know means it’s most likely a quality product.

A few days ago, T-Mobile’s LTE network was detected to be running in a handful of cities around the US. While it wasn’t being seen by everyone, network-detection app OpenSignal was able to see that T-Mobile’s new LTE was present. However, some networks have been reported to have already launched ahead of the company’s event today.
According to Engadget, several T-Mobile users have reported that they’re able to access T-Mobile’s LTE network in Phoenix, Arizona and San Jose, California. We already knew that San Jose was a city hosting T-Mobile LTE, but Phoenix is a new market that looks to be getting the LTE treatment from T-Mobile.
Some users are also reporting that the LTE is live in Houston, Texas, which would bump up the number of cities that we currently know will have T-Mobile LTE up to 10 (11 if you count the spotty coverage in Oakland, California). We should be from T-Mobile officially later on today when they’ll be hosting an event where the company is rumored to be launching several new items.
Most recently, T-Mobile is said to be introducing the iPhone officially to their network, as well as officially launching their LTE network, which the company announced would launch before the end of the month, so today seems like a viable day to do such things. Other than that, several other phones may come to T-Mobile, including the new LG Optimus G Pro and the BlackBerry Z10.

When the Full HD standard was introduced, it’s safe to say that many people were impressed with the clarity and detail that they got from their televisions/monitors. However UHD seems to be the rage these days, and while UHD televisions are still priced way beyond the budget for the average shopper, it did not stop countries such as Japan to help promote the format. NHK has revealed the world’s first UHD filmed short drama, titled “Beauties A La Carte” which is directed by Toshio Lee and is expected to be shown off at the Cannes Film Festival in a couple of months. While we’re not sure if the drama will be entertaining or a complete bust, it seems that the goal here is to show off the UHD format and hopefully be able to attract more giants in the industry to adopt said format.

Espresso machines come in shapes and sizes, ranging from small ones meant to brew a single cup of coffee, to the larger ones usually designed for cafes and restaurants in mind where multiple shots of espresso need to be prepared at once. Well if you’re looking for an espresso machine but none of the ones you’ve seen seem to appeal to you, then perhaps the Espresso Volce could be of interest to you. As you can see in the image above, it has been designed to resemble a V12 engine.
It is made from premium quality materials, such as titanium, magnesium and aluminum and apparently production is limited to 500 units, meaning that not only is the Espresso Volce rare, but it will cost you a fair amount too, even more so considering that espresso machines aren’t cheap to begin with. No word on how much this will cost, but it’s safe to say that you should be prepared to max out your credit limit if you want to get your hands on it.

If you grew up playing games like Worms on your computer, then chances are you might have be pleased when it arrived on mobile devices. However if playing on your phone isn’t your thing, Managing Director at Team17, Debbie Bestwick, has announced that Worms will be arriving on the PS Vita later this year, although there is no word on when exactly that will happen. According to Bestwick, “One big Worms game we can mention is a game for the PS Vita that we are working closely with Sony on, this will be the ultimate handheld console version releasing later this year.” Based on that statement, we can only assume that Worms for the PS Vita will take advantage of the touchscreen controls as well as the touchpads positioned behind the console, or at least that’s what we’re hoping. In any case hopefully additional details will be shared, but in the meantime who’s excited?

The BlackBerry Z10 was officially released last week as it was made available on AT&T and today, it has been made available for T-Mobile customers. Not only has the Z10 officially launched in the U.S., but the new BlackBerry 10 OS has also been released to the masses. The content selection for the BlackBerry 10 platform are slim pickings at this point, but BlackBerry is announcing some additional worthwhile content for its new OS.
BlackBerry is partnering with PBS, Univision and Viacom to bring a number of their popular programming, including Downton Abebey and shows from channels such as Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon to BlackBerry’s video catalog. Today’s partnership seems to be exclusive to BlackBerry 10 U.S. users as there’s currently no word on when or if it would be released across additional markets. (more…)

Much has been said over the demise of Google Reader and what it should mean to users. A popular position advocated by many tech bloggers is that you should pay for services rather than trust your data to companies offering services for free. They argue that paying for services will give you more control over your data in the event that a free service closes its doors. This position is partially correct, but following this advice entirely will needlessly cost you time and money.1 More »
