It’s nice to see some cheaper television offerings featuring MHL technology to help you get your streaming content from your smartphone or other device onto your big-screen TV.

Sleep If U Can Is A Creative Way Of Making Sure You Wake Up

Unless you’re a morning person, many of us dislike having to wake up early and drag ourselves to school or work, and we’re guessing that the sound of your alarm is probably one of your least favorite sounds as well. While there are plenty of solutions out there to make waking up a more pleasant experience, for those who have an extremely hard time waking up, Korean app developer Delight Room has come up with an app called Sleep If U Can.

It’s an alarm clock app designed for both iOS and Android devices, and one of its key features is how the app forces you to take a photo of something far away from your bed, thus forcing you to leave the comfort of your bed. It’s a pretty clever idea, although we have to wonder if it will ultimately becoming more annoying than useful in the end. Either way the app is priced at $1.99 and it is available for purchase via the iTunes App Store and Google Play. You can check it out in action in the video above. So, anyone planning on trying it out?

UK Cop Reports Son For Fraud After Apple Refuses To Refund In App Purchases

UK Cop Reports Son For Fraud After Apple Refuses To Refund In App PurchasesWe’ve all heard the horror stories behind children who rack up hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on in-app purchases on Apple’s iTunes App Store, leaving parents furious, and even more so when Apple refuses to refund them. While Apple is currently working on helping certain customers get their refund on accidental/unintentional in-app purchases, they have refused to refund the purchases of a 13-year old boy who managed to rack up a bill of around $5,600. Taking place in the UK, Apple refused to give the family a refund, causing the kid’s dad, Doug Crossan, to take rather drastic measures.

According to Crossan, Apple argued that it was the responsibility of the parent to lock their iOS device to prevent such things from happening, and with parental controls available as part of iOS, to a certain extent we can see Apple’s point. So what Crossan did was he reported the action to the Action Fraud Hotline, and what this means is that his son could possibly be arrested and face charges. The goal here is to lodge the complaint as criminal so that his credit card company would have to foot the bill, instead of himself.

A spokesperson at the Home Office who runs the Action Fraud stated that it does not sound like fraud has taken place, and according to the Daily Mail’s legal source, they doubt that prosecutors would bother charging the kid anyway.

T-Mobile Could Unveil The iPhone At Their Event On The 26th Of March

T Mobile Could Unveil The iPhone At Their Event On The 26th Of MarchSo on the 26th of March, not only can we expect T-Mobile to launch the Blackberry Z10 into the hands of customers, but we can also expect T-Mobile to announce their new mobile plans, and that’s not it because if the rumors are right, T-Mobile’s event will also take the wraps off iPhones designed for T-Mobile’s network. So far out of the four major carriers, T-Mobile was the only one not to offer the iPhone on contract, but reports have suggested that this will be coming to an end tomorrow. The same sources are claiming that the iPhone will be one of the first devices to take advantage of T-Mobile’s new plans, which basically allows customers to purchase the iPhone without a subsidy, but instead make monthly repayments at lower rates. We’re not sure if this will sit well with many customers who have been used to carrier subsidies, but we guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to see what T-Mobile has planned.

iOS 7 App Switcher Concept Looks Useful

It was only a few versions of iOS ago that Apple introduced the app switcher. While it was a welcome addition, there are definitely some changes that could be made to make it more useful and efficient, and this iOS 7 app switcher concept by Jesse Head might be worth taking a look at. It seems that according to the YouTube comments, some of these features can already be had if you were to jailbreak your device, but then again we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple borrowed some ideas from the jailbreak community.

So basically what this concept involves is that instead merely display icons at the bottom, the apps can be viewed in tiles with a live preview, so that users will be able to swap between apps and see where they left off, or if there are changes. Swiping up will close the app, making it a quicker solution compared to the press and hold technique, and there will be toggles and controls, such as to toggle WiFi, Bluetooth, music controls and etc. It’s pretty cool and if you’ve got a couple of minutes, check it out in the video above.

Brightstar Was The One Who Bought The 1 Million Blackberry Z10 Units

Brightstar Was The One Who Bought The 1 Million Blackberry Z10 UnitsRemember the other day we reported that a mysterious customer had bought 1 million Blackberry Z10 units? If you’re curious as to who the mysterious benefactor is, the folks at AllThingsD have managed to discover that it is none other than Brightstar who bought up the Blackberry Z10 devices. This was confirmed by their source who claims that AllThingsD had the “Bright” part right when they speculated it was Brightpoint. For those unfamiliar, Brightstar is the company that handles Verizon’s big-box retail distribution, so by having Brightstar purchase the Blackberry Z10s, they are effectively offloading some of their risk to a third-party distributor. If that is the case, we guess this 1 million Z10 purchases can’t exactly be called a success for Blackberry, but hey it’s still money in their pockets and hopefully Brightstar will be able to unload these Z10s into the hands of customers.

T-Mobile To Offer Free Alicia Keys Tickets For First 10 Blackberry Z10 Customers

T Mobile To Offer Free Alicia Keys Tickets For First 10 Blackberry Z10 CustomersT-Mobile confirmed that the Blackberry Z10 will launch on the 26th of March, and if you were thinking of getting your hands on the device, being first in line has its benefits. According to the reports, T-Mobile is apparently giving away tickets to Alicia Keys’ concert and $25 off for the first 10 Blackberry Z10 customers. It’s pretty generous and the good thing is that if you’re not a fan of Alicia Keys, you could always sell those tickets off, ultimately reducing the amount you spent on the Blackberry Z10 in the end. If you are a fan, we guess this could be considered a win-win situation. Of course considering that this is only for the first 10 customers, we expect you’d probably need to get there really early. So, any T-Mobile subscribers out there planning to get their hands on the Blackberry Z10 tomorrow?

Indiegogo campaign wants to place a commercial for NASA in front of Star Trek film

There’s a serious financial crunch in Washington DC and all around the United States. The federal government is reducing the money it is spending on a number of programs around the country including budget cuts at NASA. The problem with budget cuts at NASA is that any funding lost at the space agency means less exploration and research can be conducted.

iss

A campaign has turned up on Indiegogo seeking the funds required to place a short commercial highlighting NASA and space exploration in front of the blockbuster movie Star Trek Into Darkness. The campaign is backed by the Aerospace Industries Association and the commercial is called We Are The Explorers. The 30 second commercial will be cut down from a video NASA produced that is narrated by Peter Cullen.

Cullen voiced Optimus Prime in the Transformers movie franchise. The problem for NASA is that as a federal agency its barred from purchasing ad space for commercials leaving it up to other people to drum up interest in the space program. The goal of the campaign is to raise the money to edit NASA’s movie down to 30 seconds and purchase ad space needed to run the commercial in 50 movie theaters around the country.

The people behind the campaign want to start running commercial during the premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness. The campaign is seeking $33,000 and has 37 days left to go. So far it has only raised $725. A pledge of $10 will get you a digital copy of the trailer estimated delivery in June of 2013. A pledge $100 will get the backer an authentic space shuttle mission patch. A pledge $1000 will get each of four backers one replica space program model.

Logitech Keyboard Folio for iPad and iPad mini

Logitech Keyboard Folio for iPad and iPad miniLogitech has just released new version of its Keyboard for iPad and IPad mini. Both models work as cover cases and use a design principle that is now pretty successful for iPad keyboards. The Logitech Keyboard Folio for iPad ($99.99) is designed to provide the largest key size that Logitech could come up with, and “high-quality” materials, says Logitech. We haven’t tested one yet, so we can’t vouch for it, but the key travel and the overall design look reasonable, so now it’s mostly about how the key membranes perform. (more…)
