My Little Alien Pony: In Friendship, No One Can Hear You Scream

Each of us have different things that give us nightmares. For some people, it’s monsters, and for others, it’s cute little ponies. Now you can make sure every nightmare scenario is covered with the new My Little Alien Pony.

This monstrosity was created by artist Amy Ng, and it’s basically what would happen if H.R. Giger met Lauren Faust and they made a movie together. Friendship truly is Magic.

Measuring in at about 12-inches-long, it’s just about big enough that it could crawl down your throat and burst out of your chest when all you though you had was a bad case of indigestion.

The My Little Alien Pony pictured here is Amy’s original that she made a few years back, but she’ll make you one just like it just for you for $375(USD) – assuming she survives long enough to do it.

Leaked Windows Blue build 9364 depicts multiple Live Tile sizes, samewidth sidebyside apps

Want to get a first-hand look at Microsoft’s updated OS? You might be able to download the unreleased Windows Blue operating system on your own machine. Leaked build 9364 hit file sharing sites earlier today — according to Neowin, the 32-bit edition is available for download as a 2.63GB ISO, and likely hit the web from a Microsoft partner in France. Notable adjustments include larger and smaller Live Tiles, enabling a bit more Start screen customization, along with an updated side-by-side app view, which boosts multitasking efficiency by displaying two applications with matching width. Other additions include a Play option under the Devices panel, a screenshot button on the Share sidebar, and Internet Explorer 11, which comes packaged with the new OS. Windows Blue build 9364 appears to be an unauthorized leak, but even if you have any reservations about installing it on your own machine, you’ll surely be able to check out plenty of eye candy from other users over the hours and days to come. In the meantime, hit up the source links for a few more screenshots.

iEqualizer iPhone 5 Case: To Groove and Protect

Here’s a case for the iPhone 5 that will have you looking at the back of your phone as much as the front. The iEqualizer has a built-in meter like the one you’d find on a graphic equalizer.

iequalizer for iphone 5

It works just like the T-shirt version and the DIY necktie we saw a while back. Its electroluminescent panel will react to nearby sounds, though it’s not exactly an accurate audio meter.

The case requires two CR2032 batteries. It would’ve been more convenient if it had a rechargeable battery instead, but at least it won’t draw power from the iPhone 5′s  barely adequate battery. The iEqualizer is also sensible enough to have a power switch. The only thing I don’t like about the case is the boombox-like thing up top, which probably houses a microphone.

You can order the iEqualizer from Strapya for about $30 (USD).

Inhabitat’s Week in Green: the Soundscraper, bedroom algae biofuel lab and the revival of the gastric-brooding frog

Each week our friends at Inhabitat recap the week’s most interesting green developments and clean tech news for us — it’s the Week in Green.

DNP Inhabitat's Week in Green tktktk

The first week of spring kicked off with a bang for the architecture community as Japanese architect Toyo Ito was awarded the 2013 Pritzker Prize. Meanwhile Christo unveiled the world’s largest inflated indoor sculpture in Germany and MIT researchers announced plans to 3D print a pavilion inspired by the technique that silkworms use to build their cocoons. Inhabitat also showcased several futuristic skyscraper concepts — including the Soundscraper, which transforms auditory vibrations into clean energy, and the Zero Skyscraper, which is a post-apocalyptic survival structure. And we profiled some fascinating adaptive-reuse projects, including a grain elevator that was transformed into a student housing complex in Oslo and a Cold War-era missile silo that was converted into an underground home in Upstate New York.

LEGO Go-Kart 2: Those Daring Young MOCs in Their Jaunty Jalopies

Simon Burfield should get in touch with Eric Steenstra so they can have a LEGO go-kart race. Burfield used 16 Power Functions XL motors, 8 Power Functions battery packs and 20 Exo-Force wheels to make his life-size go-kart.

It looks less sturdy than Steenstra’s bulky build, but it can carry an adult, as you’ll see in the video below.

I wonder what its top speed is. It probably has, like, 350 MyLittlePonyPower.

‘Playing’ Crave with nifty Chrome World Wide Maze

Rolling all over Crave in 3D…

Finally, Chrome has given me a way to turn work into a game.

Chrome World Wide Maze is a nifty experiment from the Google Japan crew that syncs the mobile Chrome browser to a tab on the desktop, turning your smartphone into a controller that navigates a digital pinball on the desktop screen around a 3D rendering of any site on the Web.

Sounds like an odd concept at first, but once your device and desktop are synced up via HTML5 WebSockets (it took me a few tries, as I got a couple of “null” responses on the connect codes) and you’ve picked your site, the gameplay is exceedingly smooth.

The game takes advantage of Javascript, WebGL-powered 3D graphics, HTML5 accelerometer support, and other modern Web wonders. The potential for a new form of console-less gaming is pretty clear, bu… [Read more]

For Israeli Gays, It’s Not About The Ring

A refugee lawyer, a transgender specialist, and six other people sit in a circle in an empty classroom on the second floor of Tel Aviv’s Gay Center. They are here for the inauguration of Israel’s first-ever LGBT legal clinic. The evening’s keynote speaker is Frederick Hertz, an American legal expert who specializes in gay marriage. He describes a recent case he handled, in which a gay couple, one of them transgender, got married in Las Vegas as a man and a woman. Then they moved to California and wanted their respective healthcare benefits. “So the question,” Hertz says, “was how to register that same-sex couple when they had been married as an opposite-sex couple.”

The crowd stares blankly, some playing with their telephones. One attendee, wearing skinny jeans and Converse sneakers, breaks the collective yawn by quoting a New Yorker cartoon, republished in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, to convey how Israelis feel about the American debate over gay marriage: “Gays and lesbians getting married — haven’t they suffered enough?”

Alejandro Sanz Success Continues: Latin Star Maintains Position In Top 10 Most Sold Albums

Alejandro Sanz success continues. The Latin star maintains its position as one of the 10 most sold albums in the United States and Puerto Rico from “La Música No Se Toca“, twenty-five weeks after its release according to the Soundscan monitoring system published by Billboard magazine.

In addition, “La Música No Se Toca” has been certified Gold in Brazil, a feat uncommon for artists singing in Spanish. Last Sunday, March 17 Alejandro delighted fans at San Paulo’s Credicard Hall at a sold-out concert.

One of the evening’s most magical moments was when Brazilian singer Roberta Sa join Sanz on stage to perform the songs “Bailo con vos” by Alejandro Sanz and “Voce nao poderia surgir agora” by Roberta Sa.
