Google Chrome Web Store Search Interface Updated

Google Chrome Web Store Search Interface UpdatedGoogle has just rolled out a spanking new updated search interface for its Chrome Web Store, and just what kind of changes does it bring? Well, the most obvious one would be the ability for users to be able to tabulate filter options right at the top of the page, and among the filter choices, they include All, Apps, Extensions and Themes. If you were to check out the All section, you can also opt to click on section headings in order to make a quick jump to a single category search.

These improvements are definitely more than welcome, as it shows how Google has quietly and yet gradually introduced improvements to the search function on its Chrome store. Last July, they actually threw in social recommendations from Google+, which enabled users to check out just which apps members of their circles have already +1′d. It is said that there is also another major revamp coming our way, which allegedly will feature multi-platform support for apps and extensions.

OUYA details launch titles, day-one software update

OUYA updates backers about what to expect, including launch titles and a dayone update

The OUYA Tegra 3-powered Android game console is having quite a day, but now that it’s shipping, CEO Julie Uhrman is informing early recipients of what to expect when they open the packaging. According to an email sent out to Kickstarter backers this evening, their new box will have a software update required as soon as it’s plugged in. After the Wii U we hope this isn’t a trend (but fear it is) although the Ouya promises to take only seconds or at most minutes to complete. Also detailed are the 104 games already available from the 8,000 registered developers including Beast Boxing Turbo, Stalagflight, and Knightmare Tower, plus entertainment apps like XBMC and Flixster. The games are all free to try out, but a credit/debit card is required upfront.

We’ve already offered our opinion of the shipping hardware after a quick hands-on, although backers are encouraged to contribute their own during the preview period before it officially launches. To that end, the company is planning a Reddit AMA next month and will have its own forums available for feedback soon. Until then, you can get the rest of the info directly at the source link below.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The man running against former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford in a GOP runoff for an open congressional seat says Sanford is a compromised candidate who would offer Democrats a chance to win the May 7 special election.

Former Charleston County Council member Curtis Bostic said during a televised debate Thursday night that “a compromised candidate is not what we need” in the race against Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Bush, the sister of political satirist Stephen Colbert.

Don Young Uses ‘Wetbacks’ To Describe Latinos (AUDIO)

Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) turned heads on Thursday, using a racial slur to describe Latinos.

Addressing the United States’ jobs situation in a radio interview with KRBD-FM, Young admitted that technology has impacted the market. In the process, he chose the term “wetbacks” to describe the workers his father employed.

“My father had a ranch; we used to have 50-60 wetbacks to pick tomatoes,” Young said. “It takes two people to pick the same tomatoes now. It’s all done by machine.”

Dan Persons: Detour’s Neil Hopkins: The CFQ Interview

2013-03-29-Detour1NeilHopkins_410.jpgOkay, yet another reason not to move to Southern California. In Detour, an ambitious businessman gets trapped in his car when it’s knocked off the road and buried in a mudslide. Actor Neil Hopkins carries most of the weight of this existential nightmare, playing a man confronting a modern-day Premature Burial, trapped in a vehicle that could offer the tools for survival or very quickly become his coffin. We talked with Hopkins about the pressures accompanying the production of this small, intense film, as well as discuss his time playing Charlie Pace’s brother on Lost, his role as the first abductee in Skyline, and much more. The final OUYA retail console is ready, we go handson DNP

It’s been a long time coming, and now the Android-powered, Kickstarter-funded OUYA video game console is finally heading to backers. Sure, the final retail units for non-backers won’t be available until June, but around 50,000 lucky folks who pledged over $99 to OUYA’s massively successful campaign will be receiving their units in the coming days. We’ve already heard what developers have to say about it, but this week we got our first hands-on with the miniature, Tegra 3-powered game console we’ve been hearing so much about since last summer.

Is it the “best Tegra 3 device on the market,” as OUYA’s claimed? Let’s find out!
