True, D-Link’s AC1200 may better resemble the container keeping your coffee hot at work than a traditional WiFi router, but it remains a rare take on networking design that’s frankly appreciated. We’re glad to report, then, that it’s shipping to stores. The device (seen in the middle) is the more affordable of D-Link’s two 2013-era 802.11ac routers at its $130 street price, keeping costs in check by peaking at at more modest 867Mbps speed with the new standard and 300Mbps on old-fashioned 802.11n. It still dishes out wireless on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands, offers wired connections to four gigabit Ethernet devices and shares content from drives attached to its lone USB 3.0 port. When devices like the HTC One and Galaxy S 4 are arriving with 802.11ac built-in, we’d say the AC1200 is a timely solution — just don’t pack it with your office lunch.

If you combined a horizontal version of skee ball and a super small version of pop a shot, you would get this beer pong arcade machine. It takes all the basic tenets of beer pong (ping pong balls, red solo cups, etc.) but forgets the most important part: DRINKING. In the arcade version of beer pong, you just try and knock down as many cups as you can in 60 seconds… sober. More »

Check out this awesome Stormtrooper Easter bunny. I say it’s about time we changed the whole Easter bunny thing and I can’t think of anything better than a Bunnytrooper.
Wait, that’s no moon under his arm. It’s an egg-shaped space station! Forget chocolate and your dumb Easter cards. Forget all that fake plastic grass and Easter egg hunts. Let’s make Easter all about Star Wars toys and the almighty Stormtrooper bunny can be our mascot. We all need one more reason to dress up in our Star Wars garb.
Plus, a Bunnytrooper is just scary enough to scare kids into doing all of their chores and behaving. Let’s make this happen people. I’m having an Imperial Easter this year.

Zinio’s magazine app for tablets and smartphones has already found its way onto quite a few platforms (even some now-defunct ones), and it looks like it’ll soon be heading to yet another — at least partially. The company announced today that its Windows Phone 8 app will be available in the coming weeks, although you’ll need a Nokia Lumia phone to use it. Yes, this is yet another exclusive deal for a popular app, but if past history is any indication you can likely expect it to hit other devices sometime after the initial rollout. As TechCrunch notes, Zinio is also using its venture onto Windows Phone to branch out a bit from its traditional focus, with the the new app able to pull content from multiple sources into a reading list — as opposed to simply letting you jump from one magazine to the next. You’ll also expectedly get WP8 live tile support, as well as what Zinio describes as “improved text mode support” to make reading on a smartphone-sized screen a bit easier.

When Google soft launched its new Gmail composer last October, it did so in a preview release that gave users the option to test it out and turn it off. Not so anymore, because starting today that resizable, pop-up window is now the default interface for its web Gmail client. The widespread change was apparently spurred by abundant positive feedback from users that found the new layout bolstered multitasking — a claim we’re not entirely sold on. Regardless of your feelings towards this permanent switch, it’s headed your way soon and should finish rolling out “over the next few days.” So, turn and face the change, people — it’s not like you have a choice.
