Lavender Lipstick: Leona Lewis, Emmy Rossum And Jessica Alba Try The Spring Trend (PHOTOS)

Now that spring is finally here, it’s time that we freshen up our beauty routine. (Because clearly it doesn’t take much to get stuck in a makeup rut.) Besides painting on pastel nail polishes, we’ve been inspired by a few celebrities to reach for lavender lipstick.

While making press rounds to promote her new cruelty-free beauty collection with The Body Shop, British singer Leona Lewis looked almost doll-like wearing side-swept curls, winged eyeliner and a matte lavender lip color. Much like Alba, Lewis’ pastel lipstick shade was the perfect pick for her black-and-white outfit.

“Shameless” star Emmy Rossum stood out on the “A Night at Sardi’s” Gala red carpet in a ’20s-inspired dress and finger waves hairstyle. But we especially loved how her lavender lipstick gave the retro ensemble a modern touch.

Eating More Fiber Could Lower Your Risk Of Having A Stroke

Taking steps to include more fiber in your diet could help to protect you from suffering a stroke, a new review of studies suggests.

New research published in the journal Stroke shows that increasing dietary fiber intake by 7 grams every day is associated with a 7 percent lower risk of having a stroke for the first time. (Food-wise, 7 grams of fiber translates to two servings of produce and one serving of whole wheat pasta.)

“Most people do not get the recommended level of fiber, and increasing fiber may contribute to lower risk for strokes,” study researcher Diane Threapleton, M.Sc., who is a Ph.D. candidate in food science and nutrition at the University of Leeds, said in a statement. “We must educate consumers on the continued importance of increasing fiber intake and help them learn how to increase fiber in their diet.” According to the American Heart Association, people should aim to consume 25 grams of fiber a day.

Save 20 percent on a ChargeCard sync cable

The ChargeCard can sync and charge your mobile device, but it's small enough to tuck into your wallet.

(Credit: ChargeCard)

Remember the ChargeCard? It debuted at this year’s CES and made my list of the three things I saw at CES I’d actually buy.

As I noted then, it’s a mostly rubber card that’s thin enough to fit in your wallet, but able to charge and sync your smartphone, e-reader, digital camera, Bluetooth headset, and the like.

The Micro-USB version of the ChargeCard is just about ready to ship.

The ChargeCard comes in three versions: iPhone 4/4S (meaning Apple 30-pin connector), iPhone 5 (Apple Lightning connector), and Micro-USB. All three have the same rubber arm that folds out to plug into a USB port, but a different edge-mounted connector for jacking into your mobile device.

Sprint Epic 4G Touch will receive Android Jelly Bean update today (update)

DNP Sprint Epic 4G Touch Jelly Bean update starts today

Sprint’s Galaxy S 4 recently took one step towards being ready for mass consumption, however the carrier hasn’t forgotten the device’s forefathers. We’ve received a memo from an anonymous tipster advising that the Epic 4G Touch is set to make the jump to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1, to be exact) starting sometime today. The new software bump will come directly from Samsung and will require a visit to an external website that has yet to go live. The memo also notes that in order to perform the update, you’ll need access to a rig with Windows 7, Vista or XP — in other words, OS X and Windows 8 users will have to visit a Sprint store to get their fix. For those fortunate enough to gain access in the coming hours, let us know how it’s treating you in comments below.

Update: Waiting for official confirmation? Then just check Sprint’s official log of updates for the Epic 4G Touch on its website, which now lists the GB27 version. It’s scheduled to start today, and to answer the question of why it’s only going out via PC download and not OTA, the log cites the (unspecified) size of the update.

[Thanks, anonymous]

Phil Jackson’s strange first tweet is an AOL ad

The Zen of Advertising.

(Credit: AOL Screenshot by Chris Matyszczyk/CNET)

Sleep has possibly eluded you since you saw Phil Jackson’s first tweet.

You wondered whether the former Lakers and Bulls coach was having severe trouble typing or whether he’d perhaps lost his senses.

You must now decide which of these is fact. For the tweet that read: “11 champ;ipnsikp[ ringhs” is actually, intake of breath, an ad for AOL.

Indeed, that very same AOL that you have always loved and respected, never more than now.

I am grateful to Deadspin for bringing me this painful information and making me believe that all humans have aspects that we don’t always adore.
