When they tell you that you can’t believe it’s not butter, it’s a damned lie. Butter is creamy beautiful deliciousness while margarine is mere fake and processed imitation. It’s no contest… unless you consider their healthiness. Because we can’t have nice things, butter is high in saturated fat. That’s no good. However! Margarine, which was made to be healthier than butter, ain’t so good itself. More »

The big news in Washington “journalism” circles this week was not the side issue of “did Obama personally come up with the sequester idea?” but the side-side issue of “did Obama personally take Bob Woodward out to the woodshed and beat him mercilessly with a tire iron?” Or something like that…

Genworth Financial Exploits Obamacare Loophole To Charge Women More For Insurance
Posted in: Today's ChiliMany women soon can thank Obamacare for ensuring that they won’t have to pay higher health insurance premiums than men. But elderly women can’t say the same of long-term care insurance.
Thanks to an Obamacare loophole, long-term care insurance providers can charge women more than men for the same coverage. And Genworth Financial, the largest U.S. provider of long-term care insurance, plans to charge some women higher premiums than men starting this spring, Kaiser Health News reports.
The change will apply to women who buy new individual long-term care insurance policies, Genworth Financial told Kaiser Health News.

It has been a couple weeks since Harlem Shake went famous, and you had to have been living under a rock not to have seen it. Though some of you might be groaning at the mention, tired of the body thrashing, Google doesn’t share your sentiments, and has instead added a new Easter egg to its growing collection, this time involving YouTube.
Google has a fondenss for Easter eggs, having them embedded all over the place, including the Android handset in your pocket. It has added a Harlem Shake egg to its repertoire, which you can see by heading over to YouTube and searching for “Do the Harlem Shake”. Don’t bail too early, though, it takes a handful of seconds to get to the good part.
If you can’t be bothered to look right now, what those who do will see is a series of thrashing video results accompanied by music. It lasts 30 or so seconds before the music drops and the video results go back to their regular positions. This is just one of many Easter eggs you can enjoy among Google’s various products and services.
A common favorite, for example, is heading over to Google search and looking up “Do a barrel roll,” which will cause the entire screen to do a 360 across your display. Android users can also pull up the Easter egg on their smartphone by repeatedly tapping the OS version number under “About Phone” in Settings. Each versions has its own little something to enjoy.

No matter what market forces do to California gasoline prices in the near future, Golden State motorists will be paying a few pennies more per gallon four months from today.
The State Board of Equalization on Thursday approved raising the excise tax for gasoline to 39.5 cents a gallon, a 3.5-cent increase that will take effect statewide July 1.
Approval by a 3-2 vote came on the third and final day of the board’s meeting in Culver City.

State Department Keystone XL Pipeline Analysis Disspirits Climate Change Community
Posted in: Today's ChiliEnvironmentalists are fuming over the conclusion from the State Department that the Keystone XL pipeline — a fiercely-debated proposal to transport heavy crude from Alberta’s oil sands deposits 1,700 miles to the U.S. Gulf Coast — would be “environmentally sound.”
The government claims in the report released on Friday that the pipeline project wouldn’t significantly alter climate change. Such an assessment is at odds with the warnings of experts and advocates — more than 40,000 of whom recently convened in Washington to rally against Keystone. The report also is inconsistent with President Barack Obama’s renewed pledge to tackle global warming, environmentalists said.
James Hansen of the NASA Goddard Institute and Columbia University is among top climate scientists who have argued that approval of the pipeline would essentially mean “game over” for the climate.
