Nielsen Will Soon Launch Program That Counts Internet TV Viewers

Watching TV has gone beyond sitting in front of your television screen to watch a show as it is aired as the inclusion of DVRs and online streams have made it possible to watch a new episode of your favorite show at any time. That’s why the Wall Street Journal’s report of Nielsen possibly launching a digital program to cover Internet streaming makes complete sense.

According to the WSJ, Nielsen’s TV ratings system will soon be able to count Internet views through its “Nielsen Digital Program Ratings” pilot program. The program will launch with participation from NBC, FOX, ABC, Univision, Discovery and A&E and will be able to track their respective shows’ viewership through streaming video that is posted on their respective website. Princess Beatrice In Leather Is Quite The Nighttime Look (PHOTOS)

Princess Beatrice is a young, hip British royal, so when she hits up the night scene, she dresses accordingly.

Just last night, the 24-year-old partied at Bodo’s club in London, looking like your typical twenty-something in a tight, leather miniskirt. Beatrice completed her going-out ensemble with a cream sweater, bow belt and a plastic pink Zara clutch. We can basically imagine this outfit on any young club-goer.

Of course, Bea isn’t your typical night owl. She usually steps out with top socialites like Cressida Bonas or Donna Air, Prince Harry and James Middleton’s respective girlfriends. The redhead even has a habit of partying with her mom, Fergie.

Thorsten Heins: tablets aren’t a good business model, BlackBerry aiming to lead mobile computing in five years

Thorsten Heins tablets aren't a good business model, BlackBerry aiming to lead mobile computing in five years

Holding out for a post-RIM version of the PlayBook? That waiting likely won’t end any time soon. BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins used an interview yesterday to discuss the mobile environment five years out. Seems he’s feeling particularly bullish about his own company’s prospects. “In five years, I see BlackBerry to be the absolute leader in mobile computing — that’s what we’re aiming for,” he told the interviewer. “I want to gain as much market share as I can, but not by being a copycat.”

Not being a copycat may likely involve staying away from the crowded tablet market. “In five years I don’t think there’ll be a reason to have a tablet anymore,” according to the CEO. “Maybe a big screen in your workspace, but not a tablet as such. Tablets themselves are not a good business model.” This certainly isn’t the first time the exec has expressed caution about the space in the wake of the PlayBook’s lukewarm reception. Heins has mentioned in the past that the company won’t jump back into tablets unless it sees the potential for profits.

Update: BlackBerry has since issued an official response to the interview,

The comments that Thorsten made yesterday are in line with previous comments he has made about the future of mobile computing overall, and the possibilities that come with a platform like BlackBerry 10. We continue to evaluate our tablet strategy, but we are not making any shifts in that strategy in the short term. When we do have information about our PlayBook strategy, we will share it.

Donald Trump Demands Apple Build An iPhone With A Larger Screen

Donald Trump Demands Apple Build An iPhone With A Larger Screen

Whatever the next iPhone turns out to be, one thing we’ll pretty certain about is it will sell millions of units, even if it’s just a simple upgrade to the device’s internal specs and doesn’t offer any real evolution. But an iPhone with a larger screen is something some current owners would love to have, even Donald Trump.

Yes – Donald Trump is now throwing his two cents into the tech world as he is pretty much demanding Apple increase the size of the iPhone’s screen by way of sending a message out through Twitter and Facebook. Trump said the following:

I have a lot of @Apple stock— and I miss Steve Jobs. Tim Cook must immediately increase the size of the screen on the iPhone. It should be slightly larger than the Samsung screen- and they better get it right fast because they will lose a lot of business. I like the larger screen. (more…)
