According to Tim Brando’s dictionary, Jason Collins is not a hero.
With Collins’ decision to come out and his eloquent editorial for Sports Illustrated dominating conversation in the sports world on Monday, the CBS play-by-play announcer and radio host ranted on Twitter about the “hero worship” occurring. Expressing a sentiment that echoed one shared by Ben Shapiro, editor-at-large for Breitbart.com, Brando railed against those who consider Collins to be a hero for becoming the first active openly gay athlete in any of the major U.S. team sports.

We talked about Sony‘s Xperia SP smartphone back on March 18, which we reported was supposed to hit shelves in the second quarter of this year. It looks like that timeline was spot-on, with the Xperia SP going on sale in the UK via T-Mobile and Orange for a moderate £249.99 sans-contract. Such adds on to the other places it is already available, including India and Singapore.
While the Sony Xperia SP’s display isn’t standing out among the best available, the rest of the specs place it fully in the mid-to-high range. Inside, users will find a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor alongside 1GB of RAM. There’s a rear Exmor RS for mobile 8-megapixel camera and flash. There’s also a light strip that displays different color lights depending on which notifications the user receives.
The display is a sizable 4.6-inches with a 720p resolution, which is less than some of its competitors, but certainly not a bad resolution. Sony says that the display’s colors and contrast are improved via the inclusion of a Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 system, which been used in some of the maker’s other handsets as well. This is accompanied by Battery STAMINIA, which is a feature said to improve battery life.
Connectivity includes the typical 3G/4G, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The handset runs Android 4.2.2, and weighs in at 155 grams with an aluminum frame. The Xperia SP is being offered in three colors: red, black, and white, the latter of which you can see in the image above. T-Mobile UK says customers should allow 30 days for delivery.

Taiwan might have an HTC One and an HTC First, but starting today, Singapore has a Synrgic Uno to join the banter (get it?). The name Synrgic might not immediately ring a bell, but if you dig a little deeper, you’ll see a mention of its earlier phone plus three tablets from a while back. Alas, said phone was eventually canned as the quality didn’t meet expectations, so consider this Uno a new attempt by the same Singaporean startup.
Announced in its home city just now, this device is positioned as a mid-tier Android phone with some modest specs, namely a 4.7-inch, 720p IPS display with Gorilla Glass and, more interestingly, a dual-core 1.5GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 SoC (with 1GB DDR2 RAM and SGX 544 graphics chip). With the upcoming TI OMAP 5 series shifting towards automotive systems, chances are the Uno will be one of the last OMAP-powered smartphones before TI waves goodbye to the mobile world. TVGuide.com has obtained some first look photos from “Arrow’s” Season 1 finale, and the Emerald Archer does not look like he’s doing too well — which shouldn’t be surprising considering the finale is aptly titled “Sacrifice.”
The next Xbox — still code-named Durango — has never been formally confirmed by Microsoft as even being in production. But that certainly hasn’t stopped the rumors from flowing.

The most recent crop suggests that the moniker for the so-called Xbox 720 will actually be the Xbox Infinity, with a logo (including the tagline Infinite Entertainment, Infinite Possibilities) showing up for a time on Reddit, according to a report in Forbes.
The other new rumor surrounds the controller, which is said to have a touch panel similar to that of the PlayStation 4. Not only will it allow gestures, it’s also apparently clickable, thus working like the d-pad does on the current generation of controllers.
None of this sounds outside the realm of possibility, but the Forbes story does note that a second “official leak” has revealed a totally different logo, with no mention of Infinity at all.
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, trying to resurrect a political career, and Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch traded verbal jabs during spirited exchanges Monday night in their only scheduled debate in the race for the state’s vacant 1st Congressional District seat.
With eight days to go before the May 7 special election, Sanford stressed his efforts to rein in spending as a three-term member of Congress and as a two-term governor. The Republican noted that he was the first governor in the nation to turn back economic stimulus funds.
