MIAMI, FL — A well-known former chef and restaurant owner has been arrested in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a young father last year.

Jonathan Eismann, 52, the man behind such famous restaurants as Pacific Time, Fin and Q, allegedly struck and killed Juan Carlos Ruiz, 29, who was walking near his home at NW 3rd Street and NW 72nd Avenue at 8:47 a.m. on October 10.

iblazr LED Flash for Mobile Devices Plugs into 3.5mm Port: from Audio to Video

Most modern smartphones have a built-in LED camera flash. But if you think that your phone’s flash isn’t bright enough to properly document your party nights, dramatic Instagram pics or Bigfoot sightings, keep an eye out for the iblazr. It’s an external flash for mobile devices that plugs in via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

iblazr led flash

The folks behind the iblazr claim that its four LEDs provide four times more brightness than the iPhone 5′s built-in flash when taking pictures, and up to eight times brighter when shooting videos. The image below supposedly shows the difference between the iPhone 5′s flash (on the left) and the iblazr (on the right).

The iblazr will also have its own power supply so you won’t worry about it draining your mobile device’s already limited battery life. It will also come with a free camera app that will let users toggle the iblazr’s brightness and other options.

iblazr led flash 4 300x250
iblazr led flash 5 300x250
iblazr led flash 6 300x250

But of course the iblazr’s best feature is the fact that it plugs in via the 3.5mm headphone jack. This makes it compatible with virtually all mobile devices. Apparently you can also control multiple iblazr units at once using a headphone splitter, as shown in one of the images in the gallery. Their website is hinting at a fundraising campaign soon; keep an eye on it or on their Facebook page if you want to. I hope it comes with sensor that will prevent it from flashing when it senses that the user is shooting a video vertically.

A Guide To Everything Google Has Been Asked To Censor

A Guide To Everything Google Has Been Asked To Censor

The internet is all about the free flow of ideas, right? Collaboration! Discourse! Sharing! The day to day reality of what we do online may not always be quite so idealistic and ideologically motivated, but the open underpinnings are there. Except, of course, when they’re not at all. This visualization, published by Sebastian Sadowski, uses Google’s transparency data to visualize all the things the company has been asked to censor.

Sceptre SB301524W Speaker Sound Bar 2.1

When someone mentions the name “Sceptre”, what comes into your mind? I am quite sure that many of us are well acquainted with Sceptre’s range of LED TVs that deliver plenty of bang for your hard earned buck, and this has somewhat raised the confidence of the general cost conscious populace in this relative newcomer to the home theater/audio visual arena. This time around, the folks over at Sceptre has something slightly different for us as your eyes would not be the ones entertained, but rather, your auditory canals, in the form of the Sceptre SB301524W Speaker Sound Bar 2.1.

The Sceptre SB301524W Speaker Sound Bar 2.1 will boast of a built-in subwoofer, in addition to being powered by Google’s Android operating system while sporting Wi-Fi connectivity so that your run-of-the-mill HDTV can be “transformed” into a smart TV of sorts, thanks to the wonders of plug and play technology. I suppose the total cost of ownership for a smart TV has now been lowered across the board with this Sceptre offering, although it should not come with a similar level of integrated performance as Samsung or LG’s own range of dedicated Smart TVs. Still, something is better than nothing, right?

With the inclusion of Android’s interactive media operating system, you should be able to take advantage of the perfect entertainment atmosphere, as you are now able to access the Google Play Store, where the doors have been opened for you to download thousands of songs, games, movies and apps to add to your TV viewing experience. Something tells me that Angry Birds are going to see a spike of downloads and installations in the days and weeks ahead, if the Sceptre SB301524W Speaker Sound Bar 2.1 sees a large number of sales.

Features of the $299.99 Sceptre SB301524W Sound Bar 2.include a 35W subwoofer with passive radiator, SRS WOW HD audio technology, dual front facing speakers, a trendy touch sensor control panel, and an optional smart remote control which is capable of offering a navigational experience which is on par with that of a traditional mouse and keyboard. Any one of our dear readers are interested in this bad boy?

Dalek Planter: Germinate! Germinate!

Nothing takes the steam out of a Dalek like taking his dead carcass and putting it in your garden to use as a planter. Daleks don’t look menacing at all with flowers coming out of them.
dalek planter
This “Ex-Germinate” Dalek flower pot was made by photographer and Doctor Who collector Chris Balcombe, who obviously knows how to handle an evil Dalek. Even the Doctor himself has never exiled a Dalek into a garden. Let’s just hope this doesn’t lead to a new Dalek race that is just as deadly, but looks prettier.

Now all we need is a Cyberman and K-9 and this could be an amazing Doctor Who robotic garden tourist attraction.
