It’s 2013. We should all know that there are clear differences between calling something a nerd and calling someone a geek. This is a fact! Slackpropagation created this nifty graph that shows the dividing line on what defines a geek and what defines a nerd. The easiest way to tell the difference? Geeks are fans of a certain subject, nerds are practitioners of that subject. But fret not, geeks can be nerds and nerds can be geeks too!

AlaskaDispatch.com: Stink on Mount McKinley coming from ‘Into the Wild’ author Jon Krakauer?
Posted in: Today's ChiliJon Krakauer, who spawned no end of crap for Alaska search-and-rescue personnel when he penned “Into the Wild” 20 years ago, is now involved in his own crappy mess, high above the Alaska wilderness he wrote about and that spawned a popular movie, directed by Sean Penn, of the same name.
Krakauer and Conrad Anker, the writer who helped find the body of British climbing legend George Mallory on the slopes of Mount Everest, have been this season’s celebrity climbers on North America’s tallest mountain. Thus it caused quite a stir when they were spotted making a pitstop there sans a McKinley Clean Mountain Can.
Krakauer was squatting and ….
Here’s a fantastic example of cognitive dissonance. On Tuesday, Republicans continued their collective screeching about the rapidly fizzling IRS non-scandal and how the government unfairly targeted conservatives, while also applauding a ruling which allows Republican-controlled states to deliberately target and disenfranchise Democrats.

North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones, an outspoken anti-war Republican, said Thursday that he was prepared to attempt to impeach President Barack Obama if U.S. military action in Syria reached a certain point.
“If Congress sends one troop, if one of our troops goes to Syria and is killed, I will introduce articles of impeachment against the President,” Jones said at a Capitol Hill news conference, alongside other lawmakers who expressed concerns about the arming of Syrian rebels and the general direction of U.S. involvement in the region.
Jones has been at the forefront of anti-war efforts for years. While he initially voted to approve the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, he emerged as one of the loudest opposing voices during the latter half of Bush’s presidency, and even supported a move to impeach then-Vice President Dick Cheney.
Immigration Bill: Dreamers Weep, Cheer As Senate Votes To End Lives Of Fear
Posted in: Today's ChiliWASHINGTON — A year ago, President Barack Obama lifted a veil from hundreds of thousands of people whose parents brought them to the U.S. without documents in their childhood.
That was when Obama issued a directive stopping deportations of such people, or Dreamers as they are known after the Dream Act that sought to legalize them.
It was their turn to watch on Thursday as the Senate took the first significant step toward lifting their friends and family from the darkness, as well.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Cleveland Cavaliers selected UNLV freshman Anthony Bennett with the No. 1 pick Thursday night, making him the first Canadian to be the top choice and getting the NBA draft off to a surprising start.
The Cavaliers passed on big men Nerlens Noel and Alex Len, who went to Phoenix at No. 5, in favor of the forward who has starred for Canada’s junior national teams and was the Mountain West Conference player of the year.
There was suspense right until the end, either because the Cavs were unsure who they wanted or were trying to trade the pick. Most predictions had them taking one of the big men.
Rachel Jeantel Twitter Commentary: Olympian Lolo Jones Stirs Controversy With Criticism Of Teen
Posted in: Today's ChiliRachel Jeantel, the Florida teen who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin in the moments before he was shot and killed, testified for a second day in the George Zimmerman trial.
Zimmerman is facing charges of second degree murder after the fatal confrontation with the 17-year-old in February of 2012.
Jeantel’s testimony has come under great scrutiny as the trial has progressed, not just because of the integral role it could play in deciding the case, but also because of the commentary it has spurred from television talking heads, and across the internet. Writing for Russell Simmons’ Global Grind, Rachel Samara described Jeantel as “raw, emotional, aggressive and hostile,” and made the assumption that the predominantly white jury would not “understand” the teen’s demeanor:

Hank Johnson: Clarence Thomas ‘Worse’ Than Edward Snowden For Gutting Voting Rights Act
Posted in: Today's ChiliWASHINGTON — Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) said Wednesday that the fact that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas voted this week to gut the Voting Rights Act — the 1965 law aimed at protecting disenfranchised voters — ranks him somewhere below the likes of Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who leaked classified information about U.S. surveillance programs to the press.
“Comparing it to Snowden, I’d say the offense is worse,” Johnson told The Huffington Post.
Johnson, who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, said Snowden was wrong to leak top-secret materials to the media but was also “mistaken” in thinking that NSA’s activities were illegal. By contrast, Thomas, who is black, is “legally aware of the consequences” to the black community of striking down a core piece of the Voting Rights Act, Johnson said, yet he did it anyway.
