When Will ‘Mad Men’ End?

Since the very beginning of Mad Men, Don Draper has seemed doomed. From the show’s opening-credit sequence, with a silhouetted suit falling helplessly from the Madison Avenue skyline, to this year’s season premiere, which featured Don delving into a copy of Dante’s Inferno, the future always seemed bleak for our dapper anti-hero.

Oblivious to the fact that he’s always on the wrong side of history, Don began to wither. What seemed cool about him in the beginning — his afternoon drinks and serial womanizing — has devolved to pathetic.

Sushi Tanks Ready to Wage War on Hunger

I love good sushi. Since I’m land-locked in the Midwest, it’s not exactly easy to get good fresh sushi-grade fish here, but there are definitely some places that fly it in daily at least. Still, I haven’t seen any sushi joint around here who serves it this way…

Yes, that’s a tank made of raw fish, rice and seaweed.

I certainly wouldn’t want to be on the business end of a slice of cucumber, would you? Though if the ammo is made from smoky salmon roe, I suppose I could handle it. Just don’t come at me with that shrimp turret – unless you want to see me go into anaphylactic shock.

The After Math Microsoft fits new Windows, Sony pushes the limits of a smartphone screen

In recent weeks, we’ve covered BlackBerry, Google, Nokia, Apple, Sony and (at least gaming-wise) Microsoft, but this week, the Redmond company returned to dominate tech news, showcasing a new version of Windows 8 (and RT) at its annual Build conference. It’s tried to fix some of the operating system’s early criticisms and make it all a bit more accessible. They even threw in a Start button — of sorts. Meanwhile, Sony set jacket pockets quivering, announcing its new 6.4-inch smartphone (that’s not a tablet), replete with arguably the most powerful mobile processor out there. For a numerical breakdown of the week’s news, follow us after the break.

Former Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court Judge Bristles At Government Collaboration Claims

The former chief judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court is pushing back against the suggestion that she and her colleagues collaborated with the executive branch in approving the National Security Agency’s controversial surveillance programs.

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, who served as the chief judge on the special panel from 2002 to 2006, told the Washington Post Friday that a 2009 draft inspector general report detailing interactions between the court and the NSA was not complete or entirely accurate.

“In my view, that draft report contains major omissions, and some inaccuracies, regarding the actions I took as Presiding Judge of the FISC and my interactions with Executive Branch officials,” she said.
