George Zimmerman’s Brother: Civil Lawsuit ‘Might Not Be Very Flattering’ To Trayvon Martin’s Family

If Trayvon Martin’s family decides to file a wrongful-death suit against George Zimmerman, they could be opening a Pandora’s box, according to Zimmerman’s older brother.

“A myriad of things that were off-limits in a criminal trial would come into play in a civil case. Specifically, things that might not be very flattering to Trayvon or his family,” Robert Zimmerman Jr. said in an email to The Huffington Post.

George Zimmerman, a 29-year-old former neighborhood watch volunteer, was acquitted earlier this month of all criminal charges in the 2012 shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

George Zimmerman Gets $12,000 Towards Buying Gun From Ohio Firearms Group

COLUMBUS, Ohio — An Ohio firearms group has raised more than $12,000 to be spent on guns or a security system for George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida. But the money could end up being used to pay for Zimmerman’s defense costs and fees.

The $12,150.37 check that the group wrote to Zimmerman is the result of a fundraising effort that was launched because the group believes Zimmerman’s gun rights are being violated by the U.S. Department of Justice. The department has taken all the evidence from the trial, including the gun that killed Martin, as part of a civil rights investigation.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Touts 5.5”, 5.7” And 6” Displays Being Tested (Rumor)

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Touts 5.5”, 5.7” And 6” Displays Being Tested (Rumor)We have seen our fair share of rumors concerning the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in the past, so much so that we have come up with a Galaxy Note 3 question and answer page to fill in the blanks before an official announcement concerning it is made. Well, we have also heard that its display will first arrive in 5.99”, before later rumors pointing to a smaller form factor? Which is it, really? Why not all three? Now that would be a paradigm shift for sure, as Indian logistics website Zauba that hosts the import/export database for the world’s second most populous country, have noted that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 could arrive in 5.5”, 5.7” and 6” form factors.

After all, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3’s internal model number happens to be N900, and if you perform a search in Zauba for it, you will end up with a whopping 8 different phablet models that Samsung had already sent to India for R&D or Testing & Evaluation purposes, in all three of the mentioned screen sizes. What do you think? Could the 5.5” model actually be the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 mini eventually? Only time will tell.

Eike Batista, Formerly World’s 8th Richest Man, Loses $33 Billion In Just 16 Months

You think losing a $10 bill is bad? Trying losing $33 billion, and with it your ranking among the world’s richest men.

That’s what’s happened to Brazilian oil tycoon Eike Batista, who last year was quite literally on top of the world. Life was good, he was eighth richest man on the planet, and once he even vowed to overtake Mexico’s Carlos Slim as the planet’s richest man.

It didn’t last, and Batista has since watched his $34 billion net worth plummet some $33 billion over 16 months or so, according to Bloomberg. The big problem? His oil conglomerate, OGX Petroleo & Gas Participacoes SA, lost 90 percent of its value over the last year, leaving Batista with a relatively paltry $200 million when including debts he owes to investors.

640,000 iPads Given To LA School Kids For Free

640,000 iPads Given To LA School Kids For Free They do say that there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world, and a bunch of school going kids in Los Angeles will agree with you, but they would certainly dispute the statement that there is no such thing as a free iPad! After all, it seems that a whopping 640,000 iPads will be given away to eligible school kids in Los Angeles, and all of these without requiring those little ones to fork out a single cent for their iPad. The initial batch of 31,000 iPads will be handed out this year, while the remaining bunch of 609,000 iPads will be arriving next year.

The whole idea of this exercise is to introduce a digital learning experience in classrooms, and if you were to take a look at the purchase price for the first 31,000 iPads, it does seem as though the $31 million price tag is rather exorbitant – since that would mean each of the iPads would cost a cool $1,000. That’d be some expensive software, matey! The Los Angeles School Board of Education will have to secure additional funds in order to purchase the balance, and I guess part of the purchase price will include the software inside, since these iPads will arrive pre-loaded with textbooks and other educational applications, covering 47 campuses across the City of Angels.

German Cops Seize ‘Strangest-Looking Convertible’ Pool Car

What apparently started out as a unique plan to beat the mid-summer heat could land a young man in hot water with German police.

According to an incident report released by Chemnitz police, a motorcycle cop was on patrol near Chemnitz, southern Saxony, on Sunday when he spotted “a convertible of a slightly different kind.”

“I saw the strangest-looking convertible I have ever seen — a roofless BMW, without registration plates, bordered around the open top with wooden boards and fake plastic flowers. It was also full of water,” the unnamed police officer told Orange News.
