Nubrella Wearable Umbrella Keeps the Rain out (and Doesn’t Look Silly at All)

Whenever I go take the dog for a walk on a rainy or snowy day, it’s challenging to carry around an umbrella to keep from getting wet, so I usually just end up soaked by the time I’m done. But if I had a Nubrella, all of my problems would be solved.

Current Nubrella Design

Though I’d create a new issue for myself – embarrassment. I’m just not sure I’d be able to walk down the street wearing one of these silly looking things, even though I like the concept of a truly hands-free umbrella. The Nubrella was originally launched back in 2009, but the original design was too constraining, and bubble like, which made it uncomfortable to wear and use. Its designers are now readying a new version which solves many of the problems of the original.

Improved 2013 Nubrella Design

The new Nubrella (say that 10 times fast) is worn like a backpack, but when it’s wet outside, it can be opened up to cover your head and upper body – like a giant hood. It’s got a see-through front and top, which provides greater visibility than with umbrellas too. The updated design also allows for an open front which improves the ability to communicate and see while wearing it.

It’s really a pretty ingenious design, but I still don’t think I can get past the way it looks. Am I just too vain? If you’re not self-conscious, you can get on the list to own a new backpack-style Nubrella over on Kickstarter with prices starting around $50(USD) – about half of the planned retail price.

Chris Froome Wins Tour De France: British Cyclist Caps Strong Race With Ride Into Paris (PHOTOS)

PARIS — Chris Froome won the 100th Tour de France on Sunday, having dominated rivals over three weeks on the road and adroitly dealt with doping suspicions off it.

In two years, Britain has now had two different winners: Bradley Wiggins in 2012 and then Froome, a cooler, calmer, more understated but no less determined character than his Sky teammate with famous sideburns.

Thomas DiNapoli, New York State Comptroller, Pushes For Gay Marriage Recognition

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli is using the power of the state’s $160 billion pension system to urge President Barack Obama to order federal agencies and programs around the country to recognize gay marriages performed in New York.

DiNapoli’s idea is to adopt a “place of celebration” standard in federal government, meaning gay marriages that take place in New York would be recognized even in states that do not permit them. It could be a big push in DiNapoli’s effort to get major companies that do business with the state pension fund to adopt anti-discrimination measures when providing benefits for gay couples.

An Unusually Close Look At The Development Of Facebook Home

Facebook Home had its Android-only release in April and it’s been sort of proliferating a little bit maybe? ever since. It lives in a weird space between operating systems and apps, but it’s meant to be something you don’t over-think. So don’t think about. Just let it be a mostly successful immersive experience. That’s it. Oh plus this 50 minute video. But mainly it speaks for itself.
