‘Swamp People’ Finale: Bruce’s Dog Nearly Gets Chomped By An Alligator (VIDEO)

Mans’ best friend almost became a gator’s latest meal on the season finale of “Swamp People.” Bruce had walked onto land to try and untangle a gator so he could get off a clean shot. Meanwhile, his partner Ron was preoccupied with fixing their rifle. All of this meant no one was paying attention to Bruce’s dog, Tyler.

The dog didn’t seem too worried about the gator, as he walked dangerously close to the still very much alive beast. Once he saw the perilous position his dog was in, Bruce went into panic mode. He also went into overdrive to project his dog.

Bruce had to wrestle the alligator and shoot it with his “just-in-case” gun. This is a small, single-shot gun he carries with just one bullet. But one was all it took. It was certainly a good thing he had that gun on him, or Tyler might not have made it.

Reuters: Machinima mulling Netflix-like streaming service

Reuters Machinima mulling Netflixlike streaming service

While Machinima lets you produce epics out of your gaming exploits (occasionally resulting in comedy gold), so far it’s kept non-fanboy productions confined to YouTube. According to Reuters, that might change soon, as the company — which just received $35 million in Google-backed funding — is looking for another $80 million to start a subscription-based online video service. It has reportedly sought investment from the likes of Warner Brothers and Paramount Pictures, who already produce content for Machinima’s infamous YouTube channel and Xbox 360 app. Calling its typical user “crazy, engaged and ravenous,” CEO Allen DeBevoise said it wants to “be a company in the spirit of HBO and AMC, but in an over-the-top (online) world.” He added that it wants to license full-length, 44-minute fare (sans ads), to which it would retain foreign marketing rights. With 20.4 million viewers who stayed an average of 76 minutes last month, Machinima is already YouTube’s 7th largest channel — so, it’s no surprise that it’d like to become the Netflix of gaming.

‘Project Runway’ Premiere Features Contestant Who Has No Idea How To Sew (VIDEO)

There were a lot of big changes on “Project Runway” when the show returned for its 12th season. For one, the prize package is bigger than ever — worth more than half a million dollars. To make it more challenging, the designers are now managing their own budgets for the whole season, rather than week-to-week. That means it’s possible to run out of money for a challenge down the road.

But perhaps the most unusual change was that it no longer seems to be required that a contestant know how to sew. Okay, that may have always been the case, but Sue was pretty upfront about having no idea how to operate the sewing machine in front of her. She asked her competitors for help, who were stunned that she didn’t know how to use a basic machine.

“That’s really ballsy to sew something on a machine and not know how to use it at all,” said fellow contestant, Dom. Sue learned enough to get by and got her design together. But Hollywood Life doesn’t have a lot of hope for her when they saw that she seemed perplexed at the sight of a sewing machine.

You won’t have any trouble with these Tribbles

Have you been feeling a bit lonely and down lately? Perhaps you need an adorable, fuzzy creature in your life. Sure, a cat or dog might be the first thing that comes to mind, but those aren’t for you. No, you need something a little smaller, and a little cuter.

Don’t worry, unlike the Tribbles seen on the original Star Trek series, these cute balls of fur won’t be multiplying faster than rabbits. Instead, these particular creatures do little more than sit there and look adorable.

Each of these 4-inch plushies comes in a container, which contains several useful facts about your new pet. The most important, of course is “Use extreme caution when feeding. Tribbles eat constantly, resulting in reproduction at a dangerous rate.” If you’re in the market for your own creature from Iota Geminorium IV, then you’ll be able to pre-order yours for just $10 starting very soon.

Honda’s Mean Mower runs up to 130MPH, makes yardwork exciting (video)

Honda's Mean Mower can run up to 130MPH, make yardwork exciting

Forget robotic drones; Honda’s new lawnmower can turn a dreary task into an X Games sport. Honda aptly calls it the Mean Mower and claims it can reach speeds up to 130MPH and can go from 0 to 60MPH in just four seconds. For a lawnmower to reach those staggering numbers, the company’s UK arm reached out to Team Dynamics, its British Touring Car Championship partner. They redesigned one of the company’s machines, equipped it with a motorcycle engine to make it more powerful and replaced some of its parts with fiberglass to shave off some of its weight. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean you can cut grass while speeding and drifting like Vin Diesel — its cutting cables only work if you slow it down to 15MPH. No word yet on whether the Mean Mower will hit the market, but speed devils can live their Fast and Furious lawnmowing dreams vicariously through the driver in the clip below.

Crave giveaway: ‘Tron’-inspired Tokyo Flash Kisai Seven watch

(Credit: Tokyo Flash)

Congrats to Kathleen M. of Savannah, Ga., for winning a Swann Bolt HD wearable action camera in last week’s giveaway. This week, we have something you wear on your wrist. Something mighty sleek.

We’re giving away a limited-edition green Kisai Seven wristwatch from Tokyo Flash, purveyor of wacky timepieces. The inner ring on the futuristic-looking LED watch functions as the hour hand, and the outer ring as the minute hand. A dark void section in each ring points to the time (dark voids for the win!).

If the Kisai Seven reminds you of “Tron,” that’s intentional. A few years back, Tokyo Flash solicited watch ideas from fans, and Scott Galloway submitted this design inspired by one of his favorite films (watch this video to see how the watch works).

Evernote 5 for Windows Desktop arrives in beta, promises better UI and search (video)

DNP Evernote 5 Beta lands for Windows,

Mac users have enjoyed Evernote 5 for nearly eight months now, while those with Windows have had to glare at them in envy and make do with the web version. But never fear, PC aficionados, as you too will get your own taste of the popular note-taking app today — well, almost. Though the final version isn’t completely ready, the beta version is, however. For those brave enough to venture into the beta waters, Evernote 5 offers several improvements over its predecessor. Namely, the interface is fresher and more modern, and new search and discovery tools have been added to help you find those hastily scribbled notes that much faster. As ever with beta software, Evernote warns that data loss might be a possibility and that certain key features like Reminders have yet to be implemented. But if you’re a Windows fiend who just can’t wait to see what’s new with Evernote, head on over to the source, or just peek at the video after the break, to get acquainted.
