The AT&T-bound Nokia Lumia 1020 is certainly the best high end Windows Phone 8 device in the market at this point in time, there is no denying it. Some folks from China have even managed to get their hands on one of these bad boys, taking it apart and snapping all the innards along the way. While it is deemed to be a “camera first” smartphone by Nokia themselves, there has been reported instances of of early color accuracy issues which remain to be looked into. The thing is, for those whose order for the Nokia Lumia 1020 has been delayed via the Microsoft store, here is some news that should lighten up your day – it apparently will be accompanied by a complimentary $150 gift card. Definitely a piece of news which will bring a smile to your face, no? Whoever said that good things do not come to those who wait?

Of course, this particular bit of information was gleaned by an email screenshot which could have easily been doctored, so we do not have concrete confirmation on the situation just yet since we ourselves did not place an order for the Lumia 1020 over at the Microsoft Store. Could any of our dear readers verify whether such an email by Microsoft stating the compensation is in circulation?

Cast your memory back to 2011 and you may remember a Texas judge ruling that the seizure of cellphone records without a search warrant violated the Fourth Amendment. Fast-forward to today, and the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals has just overturned that very decision, arguing that law enforcement’s collection of such data does not violate the Fourth Amendment, and doesn’t need to pass the probable cause test. Instead, as the info is considered a service provider’s business records, authorities can get ahold of it so long as they have “reasonable grounds” and obtain a court order. The data in question can include numbers dialed, the date and time of communications and info allowing officials to suss out the phone’s location at the time of a call.

Despite the gavel’s recent action, the issue is far from settled. As the Associated Press notes, a New Jersey Supreme Court recently ruled search warrants must be used when officers request access to location information from phones details, while Maine and Montana passed legislation earlier this year requiring the same. “Antiques Roadshow” continued looking into its own past for hidden treasures, this week spotlighting a 1998 episode from Richmond, Virginia. While the crew was there, one woman was stunned to find out that she had a genuine fortune sitting in her jewelry box.

She’d inherited a series of jewels from her great aunt, who’d been married to a congressman back in the 1920s. As the couple didn’t have any children, the jewels made their way to the woman’s niece and then on to “Antiques Roadshow.”

As they were examined, experts found that she had a dual-diamond pendant worth $12,000, and a diamond and ruby ring worth $80,000, but that wasn’t all. A diamond bracelet accented with rubies was worth a staggering $165,000, according to appraiser Berj Zavian. Those three pieces alone were worth more than $250,000.

There were game files of the Xbox One which were leaked in February earlier this year, and apparently, those files could very well have been depicting the Xbox One’s capability of playing nice with Windows RT apps. An alleged screenshot of Homefront 2 files do point to the launcher executable that is accompanied by a Windows RT AppsManifest.xml file. While the news feeds should not burn up in excitement upon hearing that Xbox One games can be built as Windows 8 apps, as well as run on Windows as a platform, the possibility of the Xbox One running Windows RT apps would make life easier for developers to port games over from one platform to the other.

After all, Microsoft did drop hints of support for Windows 8 apps at Build 2013. Needless to say, a screenshot that you see above could very well be forged, which was why we said that it is an alleged screenshot of the real deal, but the original source, SuperDaE, has been pretty reliable in the past where such similar leaks are concerned.

The MLB trade chips are beginning to fall and Jake Peavy is swapping socks.

The Chicago White Sox are sending Peavy to the Boston Red Sox as part of a three-team deal that also includes the Detroit Tigers. White Sox general manager Rick Hahn issued a complimentary statement on Peavy, who joined the team during the 2009 season.
