Bugatti Unveils First Of Six Special Edition Grand Sport Vitesse Models

Bugatti Unveils First Of Six Special Edition Grand Sport Vitesse ModelsFor a good many of us, seeing cars such as Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Bugattis whiz by makes us turn green with envy, because we’re sure that many of you are probably well aware that the price of these cars are beyond the reach of the average person, so you can only imagine that when one of these car manufacturers announces a “special edition” model, well you know that’s got to cost a fortune, but if you’re fine with just looking, Bugatti has taken the wraps off the first of six special edition Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Legend models.

These special edition models will be based on the Grand Sport Vitesse and will share the original model’s 882kW/1500Nm 8.0-liter W16 engine. However apart from that, each of these special edition models will also feature designs that reflect the people who helped inspire them, with the model above being dedicated to race car driver, Jean-Pierre Wimille, who was one of Bugatti’s longest-serving test drivers. As pictured above, this particular model will be finished in a blue-tinted carbon fiber and light Wimille Bleu paintwork which was inspired by the Wimille’s racing colors. No word on pricing but we expect it will not come cheap.

Man In UK Arrested After Rape Threats Made On Twitter

Man In UK Arrested After Rape Threats Made On TwitterThreats to kill or rape someone is something that should never be taken lightly, and it seems that recently in the UK, a 21-year old man from Manchester has been arrested after posting rapes threats on Twitter. The threats were directed at a certain Caroline Criado-Perez who led the charge to get more female faces on England’s bank notes, and recently was successful in getting Pride and Prejudice author, Jane Austen, on a new £10 note that would enter circulation in 2017. Personally we don’t see what the big deal was, but apparently there were many who weren’t too thrilled about it, leading to many tweeting death and rape threats on her Twitter account.

In fact it seems it got so bad to the point where Criado-Perez received about 50 rape threats in an hour! The arrest was confirmed by a Scotland Yard spokesperson who was quoted as saying, “A 21-year-old man has today been arrested in the Manchester area on suspicion of harassment offences. […] The arrest is in connection with an allegation of malicious communications received by officers in Camden on Thursday, July 25.” In light of this recent verbal abuse, Criado-Perez’s followers have set up a petition in which they ask Twitter to create a “report abuse” button for the web version of their service, in which Twitter claims will be rolled out “soon”.

Panasonic – Massager that relaxes your muscles and warms them gently

Panasonic - Massager that relaxes your muscles and warms them gently

Panasonic is going to release a new massager “Ouchi Refre” (EW-NA63) on September 1. “Refre” is a shortened version of “Refresh” and “Ouchi” means “At home” in Japanese, not “Ouch!” ;)

It’s low frequency electrotherapy equipment that relaxes your muscles by warming them gently with the special pads.

The pads can be warmed up to 41℃. Stimulating and warming your muscles at the same time improves circulation of the blood, so “Ouchi Refre” might have a more potent effect on soothing fatigue than many other massage products.

Lomo Wants To Bring Back 170-Year Old Petzval Lens Design

Lomo Wants To Bring Back 170 Year Old Petzval Lens DesignFor photography enthusiasts, Lomo is a company you’ve probably heard of. For those unfamiliar, the company has been responsible these days for creating plastic cameras that produce lo-fi photos that sport interesting effects and colors, and are great for novelty photos and photos that are a bit more interesting to look at. Well it looks like while other camera companies are heading towards the future and producing more hi-tech camera gear, Lomo will be taking a step back, a step back to 1840, a good 170-odd years, and start producing the Petzval lens wh ich was invented in Russia more than a century ago.

One of the highlights of the camera would be its design, which as you can see in the image above, certainly does not conform to today’s designs. It will also be made from brass and focusing with the lens will require you to turn a knob of the side as opposed to a ring on the barrel. In fact the whole affair is pretty old school and seems somewhat troublesome, where photographers are required to swap between rings to change the aperture. The lenses will play nice with Canon and Nikon bodies and if you’d like to learn more, or maybe place your pre-order, hit up its Kickstarter campaign for the details!

Updated Retina MacBook Pro Rumored To Be Delayed Until October

Updated Retina MacBook Pro Rumored To Be Delayed Until October

If Apple’s recently announced MacBook Air laptops with Intel’s Haswell processors aren’t powerful enough for your liking, or does not have a high-end display resolution, then chances are you might be in the market for a Retina MacBook Pro. Unfortunately according to recent rumors, it seems that if you wanted a Retina MacBook Pro with Retina display, you might have to wait until October. This was reported by the China Timeswho are claiming that suppliers are apparently having yield problems with the Retina display, thus delaying internal timetables and pushing the availability of the laptops to October.

Some analysts have reported that the new MacBook Pros are expected in September, so obviously this delay would have thrown off their predictions. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you were hoping for a Retina MacBook Pro in September with the new Intel Haswell processors, chances are you could be in for a disappointment, but then again a month wait isn’t too long, right? In the meantime we will keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding this alleged delay.

Camera Stands With iPhone Holders Spotted In Japan’s Touristy Areas

Camera Stands With iPhone Holders Spotted In Japans Touristy AreasWith our smartphone cameras these days being more than capable of snapping great looking photos, there really is not much need to bring along a compact digital camera, unless you are a professional photographer in which you will probably lug around your DSLR instead. At the same time handing over your smartphone to a stranger to snap a photo isn’t exactly the best idea since smartphone theft is becoming increasingly common, but over in Japan it looks like they might have a solution for you. Spotted in various tourist spots in Fujisawa, it seems that local authorities have installed special stands that will allow your iPhone to be placed to help you snap photos of you and your traveling companions.

It’s hardly the most high-tech contraption, and there’s no guarantee that your phone won’t be stolen either, but we reckon it could still be safer than handing your phone over to a complete stranger, and it seems like a great way to get everyone into the photo instead of people taking turns to be the photographer. Ultimately we can appreciate the convenience, but what do you guys think? Is this a good idea, and have you seen similar installations in other parts of the world?

Nokia Lumia 729 For Verizon Alleged Press Rendering Leaked

Nokia Lumia 729 For Verizon Alleged Press Rendering LeakedWhile Nokia’s high-end phones like the Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 925 sport some pretty nice hardware and features, interestingly it is still Nokia’s lower-end offerings like the Lumia 520 that are the best-sellers, appealing to emerging markets where customers want a smartphone but can’t afford more expensive devices like the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S4. Well if you’re after an affordable Windows Phone handset, thanks to a leaked rendering obtained by WMPoweruser, we are looking at the Lumia 729 which apparently will be a variant of the Lumia 720 destined for Verizon, although the carrier’s branding on the phone seems to be missing.

In any case according to the leaked information, this handset will be placed under the Lumia 928 and the Lumia 822 and while the specs of the device remain unknown, interestingly it has been reported that the handset will feature a PureView camera, although we’re not sure if this will be of the same quality and caliber of the Lumia 1020. The pricing and release date of this alleged device remain unknown for now, but we’ll definitely keep our eyes and ears peeled for more news, so stay tuned for updates!

Windows Phone Nabs 8.1% Market Share In The UK Ahead Of BlackBerry

Windows Phone Nabs 8.1% Market Share In The UK Ahead Of BlackBerryIt is pretty clear that Apple and Google dominate the smartphone market, with their iOS and Android operating systems taking up a huge chunk of the pie, leaving the position of third and fourth up for grabs and making it essentially a fight between Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform and BlackBerry’s OS 10. Well the good news for Microsoft, Windows Phone manufacturing partners, and Windows Phone fans is that according to the latest figures released by Kantar, it seems that at least in the UK, Windows Phone has managed to nab the number three spot by grabbing about 8.1% of the market. As for BlackBerry, Kantar has reported that in the UK, BlackBerry’s market share has fallen to 4.1%.

Kantar also goes on to report that Apple’s iPhone managed to nab about 30.5%, while Android grabbed a cool 56.2%, although it should be noted that this is a drop from 57.2% in the same period last year, presumably due to other operating systems gaining more ground. Will BlackBerry eventually play catchup with more impressive devices like the upcoming BlackBerry A10? Or will Windows Phone eventually start taking up more share and leave them in the dust? We guess only time will tell, but for now Microsoft definitely has something to celebrate about.

Nokia Thinks Microsoft Should Step Up Their Game To Make Windows Phone A Success

Nokia Thinks Microsoft Should Step Up Their Game To Make Windows Phone A SuccessIn Finland, home to Nokia, Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system was reported to own about 20% of the market, numbers which are pretty impressive compared to the UK where they are at around 8.1% (impressive but not as big a number compared to 20%). However with these recent figures and despite the numbers lagging behind operating systems like iOS and Android, Nokia has remained largely positive about the Windows Phone operating system, as shared by Nokia’s vice president, Bryan Biniak. However while Biniak is pleased with the state of things, given that Nokia has pretty much put all of their proverbial eggs in the Windows Phone basket, he believes that Microsoft, too, needs to step up their game.

According to Biniak, “People rely on applications for their day-to-day life and if you don’t have something which I use in my day-to-day life I’m not going to switch [operating systems] because I don’t want to compromise the way I live my life just to switch to a phone […] It’s not just about the hardware, it’s about the tools that are on the hardware. You can’t sell a phone without the apps, you just can’t.” We can’t help but agree with Biniak’s statement, especially since many big name developers tend to release apps for Windows Phone as an afterthought, as opposed to making it their priority versus iOS and Android. In any case hopefully with the next update to Windows Phone, we will start seeing more developers pay attention to the platform.
