CINCINNATI — A jury is expected to begin deliberating whether an Ohio woman helped her teenage daughter beat up a fellow student inside a high school classroom.
The prosecution in the misdemeanor assault and trespassing trial of Precious Allen is set to rest Friday, after which Allen is expected to take the witness stand in her own defense.

Maj. Nidal Hasan is acting as his own attorney but declined to call any witnesses or give a closing argument. In his opening statement nearly two weeks ago, the 42-year-old said evidence would “clearly show” he was the shooter. Hasan described himself as a soldier who had “switched sides.”

LANCASTER, Pa. — A central Pennsylvania man convicted of robbing and assaulting three elderly Mennonite sisters has been sentenced to 12 to 40 years in prison.
The Lancaster County sentencing judge Thursday said 22-year-old Dereck Taylor Holt is a danger to the community. Holt will get psychiatric treatment in prison.
Aug 23 (Reuters) – A New York-based Goldman Sachs managing director was arrested and charged with raping a 20-year-old woman while on vacation in the up-market Hamptons resort in New York state.
The East Hampton Town Police arrested Jason Lee, 37, after responding to a disturbance at a house, the local police service said in a statement.
Lee was arrested on a charge of first-degree rape and was released on bail on Wednesday, the statement said.
The police did not name his employer, but his role at Goldman Sachs’ New York office was confirmed to the New York Times by his lawyer Edward Burke Jr, who said Lee “adamantly denies the allegations.”
Reuters independently verified that Lee works at Goldman Sachs.
A London-based spokeswoman for the bank declined to comment.
A police dispatcher told Reuters that East Hampton Chief of Police Edward Ecker was due to release a press statement around 9.00 am (1300 GMT)
Burke told the New York Times his client is an “investment bank managing director who has never been in trouble in his life, never accused of any impropriety at all.”
Lee was detained after officers learned that the unnamed woman had been sexually assaulted inside the residence where several people had gathered, the police statement said.
Lee was renting the home in East Hampton with his wife for the month of August but is no longer staying there, the Wall Street Journal said, citing Burke.
Lee was released after posting bail of $20,000 and is due back in court on Sept. 19.

First it was available to developers, then a select few who received invitations, and now the beta of iWork for iCloud is available for all. Apple’s made no official announcement, but point your browser to icloud.com, punch in your Apple ID details, and there you have it: Pages, Numbers and Keynote. Seeming as you normally have to pay for the iWork software suite, this could be a time-sensitive public beta that’ll be pulled once you’ve found all the bugs (this editor has full access without owning any of the iWork programs). So, you might as well have a go at being productive in the cloud before it’s too late.

Earlier this year Gran Turismo 6 was announced much to the delight of fans around the world. Unfortunately the game was announced for the PlayStation 3, which was a little weird given that Sony had already unveiled the PlayStation 4 and many had presumed Gran Turismo 6 would arrive on the PS4. The semi-good news back then was that a PS4 version of the game was being planned, but speaking recently during gamescom 2013 in Germany, Polyphony Digital’s CEO, Kazunori Yamauchi, revealed that by the time Gran Turismo 6 made its way onto the PS4, it could very well have evolved to Gran Turismo 7 by then.
This was a hypothetical scenario that Yamauchi imagined as it would take a while for Gran Turismo 6 to arrive on the PS4, along with the uncertainty that the vision of Gran Turismo 6 would be able to carry over to Gran Turismo 7. Unfortunately this doesn’t leave us with much to work on since it doesn’t deny nor does it confirm that the game will arrive on the PlayStation 4. In any case for gamers looking forward to Gran Turismo 6, you might want to hold off on selling your PlayStation 3 for now.
