NSA Doesn’t Know What Edward Snowden Took: Report

The National Security Agency still doesn’t know exactly what and how much Edward Snowden took from them, NBC News reported on Tuesday.

Sources told NBC News that government officials have been unable to determine how much he took, though officials previously suggested that they’re fully aware of the extent of what Snowden acquired.

The sources attributed the NSA’s uncertainty to poor organization of data; weak compartmentalization and auditing allowed Snowden to browse wide areas of documents with ease.

LG Develops World’s First Quad HD AH-IPS LCD Panel For Smartphones

LG Develops World’s First Quad HD AH IPS LCD Panel For SmartphonesLG Display is no stranger when it comes to display technologies, and they have successfully scored another world’s first today with the announcement of their success in developing what they deem to be the “world’s first Quad HD AH-IPS LCD panel for smartphones.” This puppy is no slouch when it comes to visual performance – we are talking about a whopping 2,560 X 1,440 resolution with 538ppi (pixel density), all shown off on its new 5.5-inch Quad HD panel. This would make it the highest resolution and ppi (pixel per inch) mobile panel to date, and it does pave open the road to what is set to arrive after the existing generation of Full HD smartphone panels.

Dr. Byeong-koo Kim, Vice President and Head of LG Display’s IT and Mobile Development Group, said, “LG Display, which pioneered the high resolution mobile market with introduction of the world’s first Full HD smartphone panel in 2012, again opens new possibilities with the successful application of QHD technology. With this breakthrough, LG Display will continue to raise new standards for mobile resolution and lead the mobile display market.” We are stoked to see just what the future holds for smartphone models down the road, and hopefully these new displays would be power efficient too, otherwise the battery would undergo a whole lot of load then.

Marriage Fears Revealed By Our Readers

Getting married — however exciting and wonderful it may be — is a major life decision that can also spark fear and doubt. Have you found the “right” person? How will marriage change your relationship? Do you believe that great love really can last a lifetime?

On Tuesday, we asked our readers to reveal their biggest fears about tying the knot. Scroll down for nine honest confessions. Then, share yours in the comments below.

When my wife and I married over five years ago, we were young (still are). We didn’t have much money, rented a cheap apartment and lived very busy lives to make ends meet. My biggest fear going into our marriage was wondering how we would find time to help our relationship grow in the midst of all the business. We’ve learned that marriage takes a lot of work, but that there is beauty in the fact that you get to experience life together. – Lawrence, 25, of Greenville, N.C.

Delaware Has World’s Tallest Lego Tower

One of the ways to be extremely famous would be to break a world record, or attempt something so audacious (more often than not to the risk of your life and limb), that no one else would have even thought of it before. Well, for the Red Clay School District, Monday evening proved to be an extremely memorable one as the world’s tallest Lego tower was unveiled. This particular Lego tower took months to complete, in addition to a fair number of days of painstaking engineering to ensure that this particular Lego tower will remain upright for quite some time. The number of Lego bricks required to prop the tower up numbered at over 500,000 units, and the entire shebang is definitely not light – we are talking about approximately 1,000 kilograms worth of Lego bricks, all of them painstakingly stacked up to exactly 112 feet, 11.75” in height.

That would make it taller than 10 stories in height, which in turn has made it the officially tallest structure which is made of interlocking toy bricks ever constructed – and it has been verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. What are some of the Lego projects that you think should be turned into a world record breaking feat?

Virtual Receptionist ‘Hologram’ Presented By UK Government Office

Virtual Receptionist ‘Hologram’ Presented By UK Government OfficeHolograms are an extremely interesting segment of technology which could be pursued further for more practical applications in real life, and while we have seen our fair share of holograms in science fiction movies, the real world is still lagging behind in such technology. However, advances have been made in the past, and now, a branch of the U.K. government intends to streamline select customer service functions, and have decided to introduce an automated visual assistant that can be considered to be a hologram of sorts. This ‘hologram’ is actually a digital assistant that is represented by an actress on a screen, and has been programmed to be accompanied by a set menu of answers in anticipation of various prompts.

I guess you can call this the first step to what Jor-El’s lifelike hologram was to Kal-El in Man of Steel. The virtual assistant happens to be projected on a “see-through screen”, although revealed images point otherwise – as the image has been spotted to appear on a normal flatscreen display. Voice prompts and touch screen functionality would enable visitors to make their choice from a range of menus as they attempt to find their way around the government facility. Do you prefer your holograms to come in the male or female gender, or it does not matter to you?

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Spotted

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini SpottedWhat do you think of smartphone companies rolling out a “mini” version of their existing flagship device? Do you think it will save them a whole lot of publicity money since most folks would already have heard about the full fledged device, and hence, need to spend less in developing and cultivating a whole new handset’s perception among the masses? HTC has done it with their HTC One mini, and Samsung more or less got the ball rolling with their Galaxy S3 mini. It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini is about to make its way to the US thanks to the folks over at AT&T. It is a tad late though, considering how the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini has already been made available in select markets since November last year. Ah well I guess this is a classic case of better late than never!

Serial leaksters @evleaks are the ones behind what you see above, with a visible date of August 23 spotted on the Galaxy S3 mini. If that particular date sounds familiar to you, that is because August 23rd is also the same date when AT&T will begin to sell the HTC One mini as well as the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, so we would not be surprised if the Galaxy S3 mini were to be released then, too.

    GlassFrogger App For Google Glass

Have you ever played the classic game Frogger in the past, whether on an emulator (if you are not that old), or *gasp*, grey hairs on your head and a growing paunch around your waist, think back to your far younger days where Frogger proved to be highly addictive despite its extremely primitive graphics? Well, fast forward to the second decade of the 21st century, and here we are with an app that pays homage to the original Frogger – the GlassFrogger app. Obviously, by its name alone, you can tell that this is meant for the Google Glass wearable technology device, causing wearers of Google Glass to actually get out of their seats, jumping around and letting them stretch their legs. Hmmm, sounds like a good way to break the monotony at the work desk, don’t you think so?

GlassFrogger was developed for the Breaking Glass Hackathon, where this retro title will require gamers to jump in the air like a frog in order to avoid virtual cars as well as other obstacles, as they make their way across the precarious road to the safety of a lily pad. You would definitely look slightly out of place whenever you wear this and give the game a go for sure, but then again, what’s looking at little bit silly when this will keep you happy and perhaps, slightly healthier than the rest of your inactive, desk-bound colleagues?

AT&T to bring LTE to 50 more markets by the end of 2013, Fargo citizens rejoice

AT&T to bring LTE to 50 more cities by the end of 2013, Fargo citizens rejoice

American LTE rollouts by themselves are nothing special now that 4G covers large parts of the country. AT&T just gave us reason to take notice, however, with promises that it will bring LTE to 50 more markets before the end of the year. The deployments cover a wide swath of the US, ranging from the northern climes of Fargo and Fairbanks to balmier locations like Amarillo and Kauai. You’ll find the full list in AT&T’s press release after the break, but it’s safe to say that Frances McDormand would approve.
