Beats Rumored To Buy Back HTC’s Stake In Their Company

Beats Rumored To Buy Back HTCs Stake In Their CompanyHTC and Beats have had a pretty long relationship together, with Beats earphones being bundled together with some HTC devices, and their software preinstalled in HTC phones to provide a better audio experience. However it seems that the relationship could soon be coming to an end, which we’re guessing could partly be due to HTC’s financial troubles, and the fact that Beats and HP have been enjoying a similar collaboration as well.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, they are claiming that Beats is looking to buy back HTC’s share in their company. The report states, “The moves come as the founders of Beats Electronics LLC—music mogul Jimmy Iovine and American hip-hop producer and artist Andre Young, better known as Dr. Dre—are broadening the company’s business from headphones to include speakers, audio systems in cars and consumer electronics and a soon-to-be-launched online streaming music service.”

If anything you might recall back in 2012 that the HTC and Beats brand could be parting ways, and while this was a rumor that was denied by HTC back then, assuming this report is true, it looks like things are coming round full circle! Until then do take it with a grain of salt.

Minecraft creator scraps ‘0x10c’ spaceship game, but fans run with concept

Minecraft creator definitively kills '0x10c' spaceship game

After suffering a “creative block” with development of his 0x10c project, Markus “Notch” Persson has definitively killed the idea, saying he has “no future aspirations” for it. The keenly anticipated game involved space travelers who wake up after an eons-long hypersleep and have to deal with enemies and other problems aboard their spaceship. He broke the news to disappointed fans on a livestream, but some have decided to keep the idea alive via community effort called Project Trillek. While they’d drop the whole cryosleep bit, the team would keep the concept of a crew navigating space and managing their craft with a 16-bit CPU, Minecraft-style. We’re glad it’s not dead yet, but whether it can survive the vacuum of a Notch-less space remains to be seen.

WSJ: Beats Electronics looking to end HTC partnership

WSJ Beats Electronics looking to end HTC partnership

Whatever you feel about Beats’ audio, you can’t help but think that the company’s partnership with HTC hasn’t really worked out. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Dr. Dre and Co. are planning to buy back the phone maker’s remaining 25 percent stake in the business — just a year after HTC reduced its stake by half. Either way, we’re hoping that this potential separation helps HTC get back to winning ways and frees up Dr. Dre to resuming prescribing those pills he’s now so fond of.

PS3 Disney Infinity Reports “Locking Up” Problems

PS3 Disney Infinity Reports “Locking Up” ProblemsIt does seem as though the PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity has started to result in issues for select users, where some users have reported that the game itself will freeze or lock-up, resulting in it being unplayable because of a network issue that happens to be related to the game’s day one 1.01 patch. A statement on the game’s official Facebook page said, “This is not a software-related issue, and we are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. Players with the PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity are still able to play single-player and multi-player co-op modes of the game by removing the patch and turning off their Playstation’s network communications.”

You will be able to check out the full instructions on how to do away with the offending patch, as well as turning off the console’s network communications over on Disney Infinity’s Facebook page. The issue itself has appeared across a variety of channels including Twitter, Facebook and the official PlayStation forums, and we do know that a fix is already in the pipeline, which is a good thing, but the sooner it is released, the better it would be for everyone generally. Are you one of those who was affected?

    Belgian Fries Vending Machine

Belgian Fries Vending MachineWe have seen and heard about some pretty zany vending machines in the past, and one of the most recent coverage involves a bra vending machine over in Japan (how come I am not surprised to hear of its country of origin? After all, Japan has the highest number of vending machines to its population ratio in the world), and this time around the focus would cross seas to Europe – where what you see above is a Belgian fries vending machine that has been specially adapted to use beef fat, and customers would need to fork out €2.50 a portion. Seems all right to us, considering how Belgian has laid claim to being the inventor of fries.

Touted to be Belgium’s first fully automatic fries machine, it is capable of preparing a 135g portion of chips in 90 seconds. Of course, you ought to take note that chips have already been sold in this manner in other countries, the machine here is located outside a supermarket in Brussels, and it has adopted the gold-standard animal dripping, in addition to vegetable oil, which might just be the first salvo fired against Belgium’s street fries vendors. Would you prefer to buy such food from a street vendor or a machine?

Fujitsu F-07E Uses FPC Fingerprint Technology

Fujitsu F 07E Uses FPC Fingerprint TechnologyWhat makes the Fujitsu F-07E so special? Well, it so happens to be the first smartphone that will rely on FPC fingerprint technology, and it has been launched by Fujitsu with DoCoMo all over Japan. This might be a Disney-branded smartphone, but make no mistake about it – the list of hardware specifications are pretty much all grown up, with the ability to support Fingerprint Cards’ (FPC’s) swipe sensor technology.

Katsumi Takada, head of Mobile Phone Group of Fujitsu, said, “Finger sensors in smart devices have become an increasingly essential way to ensure that these devices are secure and at the same time they add convenience for the users. Finger sensors in smartphones have become something of a trademark for Fujitsu and by adding 1080 swipe sensor technology from Fingerprint Cards, we are taking the next step in helping smartphone users to increase the convenience of their experience through effortless fingerprint security.”.

There is the expectation that this launch in Japan is just a start, as there might be additional launches throughout Asia for the rest of the year, and promisingly, beyond, too. Hmm, guess notebooks alone are not the only ones to feature fingerprint sensors, as we have also heard of rumors that the upcoming iPhone 5S might also feature a fingerprint sensor of its own. Halo: Spartan Assault Now Available Across All Windows Phone 8 Devices

When we talk about video games and Microsoft, one of the enduring images or names would be Halo that defined the Xbox, marking Microsoft’s first foray into the video game console market. Well, Microsoft has certainly come a long way since the early Xbox days, and you could say that Halo: Spartan Assault happens to be Microsoft’s attempt in delivering the popular intellectual property of theirs to the mobile device platform. Having already sold millions of copies on consoles as well as on the PC, the Halo series garnered its fair share of fans, and as more titles roll out, this fan base is set to grow even further.

Halo: Spartan Assault happens to be available on Windows Phone 8, although it was previously restricted in the US to just Verizon Wireless customers via a 30-day exclusivity deal. We are glad to say that this particular deal is no more, which means all Windows Phone 8 devices with the relevant amount of processing muscle are able to handle this title without requiring you to be a Verizon Wireless customer. Would you be picking up this particular title for your Windows Phone 8 powered smartphone, or do you think that you would much rather stick to the console versions of Halo? It can be downloaded from Windows Phone Store for $6.99, and needs Windows Phone 8 and 1GB RAM to run, although it is speculated that an update for 512MB devices should be in the pipeline.
