Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumored To Feature Metal Body

Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumored To Feature Metal BodyThere were some who were a little disappointed by the Samsung Galaxy S4 earlier this year when it was discovered that the South Korean company turned to plastic once again, instead of metal, like what Apple, Nokia, HTC, and Sony did. Samsung’s answer at that time was that plastic was more durable in terms of flexibility, so when dropped it would not be as damaged compared to metal, which we guess makes sense. However it looks like Samsung could be having a change of heart as recent rumors have surfaced suggesting that Samsung could be turning to metal for the Galaxy S5 which is expected to see a release in 2014.

The report comes from the Taipei Times who claims that Samsung could tap Catcher Technology to make the metal casing for the upcoming device. For those unfamiliar, Catcher Technology is the same company behind the casings for the Apple MacBook Air and iPad mini, so it is safe to say that the company has experience in the matter. We are still a pretty long way off from Samsung making an official announcement so take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Will the Galaxy S5 be the first all-metal Samsung smartphone? More importantly, are you looking forward to such a design?

Rockstar Working On GTA 5 Disappearing Vehicles Glitch

Rockstar has had quite the launch for its Grand Theft Auto 5 as the game has raked in $1 billion within the first three days of being available to the public, shattering records across all entertainment mediums, including movies. It looks like the GTA 5 experience hasn’t been flawless for some folks as just the other day, it was being reported the game would crash on older Xbox 360 consoles, and today we’re hearing of a glitch that makes vehicles stored in a player’s garage completely disappear. Gold iPhone 5s Gets Shot With A 50 Calibre Rifle

The folks at RatedRR have gone through several different phones in the course of their videos, basically seeing how “durable” phones are when they are shot with a gun. Naturally no phone is able to withstand being shot at directly by a high calibre rifle, but it’s still somewhat entertaining to watch, especially if you’re into senseless gadget destruction (like the “Will It Blend?” series of YouTube videos). In any case the folks at RatedRR are back and this time they are putting Apple’s latest and greatest smartphone, the iPhone 5s, to the test. (more…)

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Teaser Trailer Unveiled

Just last week we reported that Square Enix announced their plans to bring Final Fantasy IV: The After Years onto mobile devices and give it a visual makeover, similar to the style of Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS handheld console. What this means for gamers is that they can look forward to new graphics as well as touchscreen support, and given that Square Enix has released several Final Fantasy titles for iOS and Android over the past few years, we expect that they know what they are doing.

In any case Square Enix has since released a teaser trailer for the upcoming game which is expected to see a release next year, so if you’re a huge Final Fantasy fan, this trailer is worth checking out. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is set after Final Fantasy IV, so for those who enjoyed the original game, hopefully this remake will be able to do it justice, or make it even better, so spare a minute or two and check out the teaser trailer in the video above for a brief idea of what to expect.

Nokia Internship Lens App Announced, Will Help College Grads Look For Work

Nokia Internship Lens App Announced, Will Help College Grads Look For WorkLanding a job in the market today is harder than ever but it seems that Nokia is looking to do their part for the community by launching an app called the Internship Lens. The app is built off the company’s earlier efforts called JobLens and basically what it does is that it will help recent college graduates look for a job, or an internship, in the immediate area as well as based on what they have been trained in, meaning that you will not be placed at jobs that are irrelevant to your field or study, hopefully.

This is a joint effort by Nokia and Internships.com, which for those unfamiliar, is the world’s largest database on job opportunities. The app will be made available for download today, although it seems to be limited to just Nokia Lumia Windows Phone owners based in the US, so those living outside of the US will have to find a job without any help from Nokia! When an internship is found, users have the option to choose to Save it for later, Share it with someone who they think might be better suited, or Apply for the internship position themselves. Sounds like a pretty good idea and kudos to Nokia for their efforts.

Android Device Manager Receives Update To Allow Remote Lock, Wiping, More

Google announced its Android Device Manager early last month, which is a tool that helps Android users track down their handsets that either suddenly sprout legs and walk off by themselves or just downright get stolen. The service was expected to be released in late August, and the service did release, although not all of its functions were available. Today, Google has announced they’ve rolled out some additional features to its Android Device Manager.

Valve Teases SteamOS, a Free Operating System for Living Room Gaming

Ben Heck’s Steam box will soon be a legitimate Steam Box. The avid PC gamer can build his Steam Box, the console gamer will be able to buy a Steam Box, everyone can have a Steam Box! That’s all in the near future – hopefully not in Valve Time – with the announcement of SteamOS, a free Linux-based operating system “designed for the TV and the living room.”

    Valve steamOS 620x609magnify

According to the teaser page, Valve has progressed far enough with SteamOS Valve to have “achieved significant performance increases in graphics processing”, and now they’re working on “audio performance and reductions in input latency at the operating system level.” Valve also claims that developers are already working with the standalone operating system, with “hundreds of great games” already running natively on SteamOS. In the event that your favorite game doesn’t have a SteamOS version, Valve says you’ll be able to stream a game from a PC or Mac running the Steam client to the machine running SteamOS.

Valve also said that they’re working with media providers to tie in to Steam and SteamOS. Add in Big Picture mode, cloud syncing and the propensity of Steam to drop prices like it’s hot and you could have an all-conquering entertainment machine.

Can Valve finally bring about the rise of the PC-console hybrid? A machine with the idiotproof user interface of a console, but with the futureproof software and hardware options of the PC? Is Valve saving Half-Life 3 for the SteamOS? The bastards?

‘Welcome To Flint’: Most Violent City In America Gets Closer Look From Brett Carlsen, Juan Madrid (PHOTOS)

The city of Flint lies 60 miles north of Detroit. Medium in size, it’s home to around 100,000 people. And though it’s far from the Motor City, where it’s commonly known that services falter, crime festers and homes sit empty, it shares many of the same problems.
