Issues With iOS 7 Download? You Are Not Alone

Issues With iOS 7 Download? You Are Not AloneYes, we humans might be alone in this universe after all, but when it comes to something as huge as a new mobile operating system version download or update, and from Apple at that, then it is widely expected for everything to run hunky dory. After all, you purchased an iPhone simply because you wanted it to “work”, right, without having to tinker with stuff or to be frustrated by it all. Well, sad to say things do not always go as planned, as the iOS 7 launch has stumbled right out of the gates.

I wonder whether Apple underestimated the number of people who decided to make the upgrade jump when they released the iOS 7 update earlier this morning at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Its activation servers were swamped by all the pressure of all the downloads, and other folks could not even start the installation process without being greeted by an error message. Apple has since issued a high-priority internal notice to its support staff, especially after a sizable number of folks could not their iPhones after the iOS 7 installation process was complete as the servers failed to respond. Hopefully Apple will be able to get their act sorted out before this Friday’s iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c rollout.

Sony PS4 Arrives In Other Parts Of Asia Before Japan

Sony PS4 Arrives In Other Parts Of Asia Before JapanBefore the much anticipated Sony PS4 is released, there has already been plenty of buzz surrounding this next generation console. In fact, we just brought you word that Sony has plans to sell a whopping 5 million units of their new PS4 consoles before the end of their next fiscal year, which is a pretty lofty target considering how its predecessor, the Sony PS3 itself, took nearly a year to achieve that particular target. Not only that, we have also heard that Sony will be holding back on some PS4 stock to prevent any shortages that might arise during the launch window. Having said that, those living in Japan will only be able to wrap their mitts around the PS4 in February next year, but for the rest of Asia, you guys are a whole lot luckier as MCV has reported from the Tokyo Game Show that the PS4 will be launched in South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan later this December, making Christmas a definitely more festive experience – if you have the dough to spare, that is.

Other than that, Sony did not offer up any more pricing details or specific launch dates for the other Asian areas. North America and Europe would benefit from the PS4 release first, arriving on November 15 and November 29, respectively.

Cyanogen Raises $7M In Funding To Conquer The Mobile OS Market

Cyanogen Raises $7M In Funding To Conquer The Mobile OS MarketCyanogenMod is currently on the move to raise venture capital funding, and according to CyanogenMod’s new CEO and co-founder, they have big plans for the company, with the aim to become the No. 3 in the mobile OS arena. That is certainly quite an achievement if they were to actually hit their target, considering how they would have to bypass the likes of BlackBerry OS and of course, the current third place mobile OS, Windows Phone from Microsoft. As Cyanogen’s first new product as a company, it will come in the form of a CyanogenMod installer app.

Android enthusiasts would have had their fair share of CyanogenMod in the past, and for those who are not in the know, you will soon hear more about them from now on. Having secured $7 million in Series A funding from Benchmark Capital, the CyanogenMod team intends to make their dream a reality instead of having it remain within the confines of a fan project all this while. CyanogenMod co-founder and developer Steve Kondik, said, “There’s almost this entire developer ecosystem around it. We’re going to do a lot of work around the user experience. You’re going to see us building secure services. To get more people to use it, we have all these little touches planned.”

    Yahoo Updates iOS App

Yahoo Updates iOS AppYahoo has just introduced a new iOS app update that will bring with it a bunch of new features, and among them would include animated cinemagraphs. Specially designed for iOS 7, this new updated app from Yahoo will be available for the iPhone and iPod touch, with no immediate mention as to whether the iPad version would be on the receiving end of an updated version. Fernando Delgado, Yahoo’s senior director of product management for mobile and emerging products, claimed that the update app will create “an even better experience for discovering and reading content whether in the moment or saving for later.”

Those based in the US will most probably appreciate the ability to save content to enjoy later, thanks to the “My Saves” option. Assuming you then to be on the road, and do not have the time to dive into an article that interests you, all you need to do is just to tap the button, and you are able to check out that story later at a more convenient time. Not only that, breaking news alerts have also been thrown into the mix, alongside playing nice with animated GIFs. Do you like what Yahoo has done with the latest iOS app?

Rick Reilly’s Outrageous ‘Redskins’ Defense Compares Protesting Name To Putting Native Americans On Reservations

ESPN columnist Rick Reilly wants you to know that he will not “fall in line” with the handful of his media colleagues who have opted to stop using the term “Washington Redskins.” On the contrary, the 11-time National Sportswriter of the Year has painted those calling for change as the true villains in the ongoing controversy swirling around the NFL team, going as far as to compare them to those who forced Native Americans onto reservations.

A week after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell conceded that the league should listen to anyone offended by the name of the professional football team in D.C., Reilly entered the fray with a Sept. 18 column about the debate.

I guess this is where I’m supposed to fall in line and do what every other American sports writer is doing. I’m supposed to swear I won’t ever write the words “Washington Redskins” anymore because it’s racist and offensive and a slap in the face to all Native Americans who ever lived. Maybe it is.

Sony Wants To Sell 5 Million PS4 Consoles Before End Of Fiscal Year

Sony Wants To Sell 5 Million PS4 Consoles Before End Of Fiscal YearJust how do you measure the success of a company? That question can be a tricky or difficult one to answer, especially when you take into consideration the number of criteria that one could figure out. Well, when it comes to gaming and hardware companies, numbers do not lie. Sony, a consumer electronics giant in their own right, has just announced over at its Tokyo Game Show keynote that it has set an ambition to sell a whopping five million PlayStation 4 consoles before the end of the fiscal year.

This is definitely a statement of intention, and a bold one by that, by anyone’s guess. Of course, the scope of this ambition might prove to be beyond reach, especially when you consider that the Sony PS4 will not launch in Japan, its home country, until February next year. If you think that 5 million might not amount to much, do take into consideration Nintendo’s Wii U that moved around 2.5 million plus consoles during its corresponding launch period. If you were to take its predecessor, the PS3 into consideration as a comparison, that particular console arrived at the 5 million mark only nearly a year after its launch. Do you think the PS4 will be able to hit the 5 million mark in the designated timeframe?

Facebook Bans Company For Using Dead Rape Victim In Dating Ad

Facebook Bans Company For Using Dead Rape Victim In Dating AdWhen it comes to the world of advertisements, there are some lines that you just do not cross, although at times, some of the more “creative” minds out there tend to blur the lines. Facebook, one of the world’s big names when it comes to social networks, recently issued an apology after they realized that a dating company actually made use of images of a girl who ended her life after allegedly being raped. Not only that, to make a stand so that nothing of this sort will happen in the future, the offending company has also been banned by Facebook.

The advertisements did see photos of Rehtaeh Parsons appear, where she happened to be a teen from Canada who committed suicide in April after an image of her rape made its way online. Rehtaeh’s death made international headlines after police did not take any immediate legal action against her alleged rapists as well as cyber bullies, even after the photo did allegedly depict a quartet of boys raping her. The company that placed the ad in Facebook ran under the headline “Find Love in Canada,” and no longer is the website that the ad is linked to online.

Facebook said via a spokesman, “This is an extremely unfortunate example of an advertiser scraping an image from the internet and using it in their ad campaign. This is a gross violation of our ad policies and we have removed the ad and permanently deleted the advertiser’s account.”

Amazon Lockers Removed From Staples And RadioShack Stores

Amazon Lockers Removed From Staples And RadioShack StoresThere is this particular saying, keep your friends close, and your enemies, closer. I suppose that makes sense since it would bode you well to know just what the heck is your nemesis up to. However, the folks over at Staples as well as RadioShack decided otherwise – and with good sense, too, to remove all Amazon Lockers that are currently placed in their stores.

It does amaze me as to why no one thought about this before, not to place Amazon Lockers, one of your toughest competitors in the market, within the confines of your own stores. That particular move to see Amazon Lockers move into various Staples and RadioShack sites was agreed upon a few months back, allowing Amazon customers to select and follow up by picking up their goods at the store instead of waiting for a delivery. The host retailer, Staples and RadioShack in this case, would be on the receiving end of a small fee afterwards. Bloomberg reported that both Staples and RadioShack have come to the decision to get rid of the lockers from their stores, where Staples touted that the Amazon deal “didn’t meet the criteria” that was set up. As for RadioShack, they claimed that the lockers “didn’t fit with its strategy.”
