Gold Tattoo Sensor Might Be The Next Generation Thermometer

Gold Tattoo Sensor Might Be The Next Generation ThermometerYou know what they say – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The human skin has done a pretty great job over the years when it comes to keeping diseases and germs out of the body, while helping regulate our body’s temperature by sweating right after we start to work those muscle groups, but will science be able to augment what has been working just fine all this while? The idea of a bionic skin has also led to a new kind of thermometer. University of Illinois researcher John Rogers has developed this particular electronic thermometer which does resemble a wafer-thin postage stamp that comes complete with a barcode of sorts that have been imprinted on it.

This gold tattoo sensor, if you will, will then be attached to the skin using a water-soluble adhesive, where it will get to work by monitoring your body temperature in an accurate manner, down to two one-thousandths of a degree. This particular level of sensitivity would mean it has made the jump to be on par with thermal infrared cameras, and those tend to cost $250,000 a pop. Rogers’ version, however, is a whole lot more affordable, costing just pennies where the materials required are concerned. Not only that, it can also measure body temperature over an extended period of time for different diagnostic purposes.

Topcor Tech Wallet – puts all of your essentials in one spot

    Topcor Tech Wallet
There are so many gadgets and gizmos that we carry around during the day and it seems like there are only going to be more of them. You want your MP3 player, phone, tablet, laptop, headphones, backup battery, extra cables, and a few different flashlight options for those ‘just in case’ times. OK, I’m exaggerating, but we do carry around a lot more than we need to. When it comes down to it, all you really need are your cards, maybe some cash, and your phone.

It’s hard trying to downsize, and normally you still need to worry about keeping both your phone and money holder within your general vicinity. The Topcor Tech Wallet will make sure your wallet and your phone don’t stray too far away from each other. While there are many cases that have a sort of card/money holder integrated in, this is a different take.

The Tech Wallet uses an adhesive pad to stick to your phone case, and utilizes a low-profile hook and loop (velcro) to keep the your phone and wallet together. You’ll have to apply the backing with some amount of precision, but it is removable with some heat and finagling. The wallet can hold 8 cards, 12 bills, and four or more business cards. Made of nylon and coming only in black, this will cost you around $20 if you’re interested. The wallet can be used as a stand aside from its main function in either portrait or landscape mode. This will play nice with the iPhone 4 and 5, Galaxy S3, HTC One, and just about any other smartphone as it’s just a sticky Velcro pad and wallet.

Chinese Mercenaries Are Hacking into American Networks

Cybersecurity firm Symantec took a major swipe at Chinese hackers on Tuesday, when it revealed the details of the group that’s behind some of the best-known attacks on the United States. Iran Could Send Persian Cat Into Space

Iran Could Send Persian Cat Into SpaceHmmm, is it me, or is Iran getting more and more progressive? First, we heard that the government in that part of the world has already unblocked Twitter as well as Facebook, and now there are whispers from IRNA, Iran’s official news agency, which tout that Iran intends to send a Persian cat into space. In the past, Iran allegedly did send a monkey into orbit, although there were doubts which were raised after photos from that mission hit the Internet. Iran maintains that said monkey made it to space and back to earth safe and sound, the media touted different monkeys prior to and after the mission. Ah well, assuming the worst happened to that monkey in the name of science, we do hope that the Iranian scientists’ plans to fire a Persian cat into space via a liquid-fueled rocket will not suffer a similar fate.

We do wonder how the cat will feel like when floating around in zero gravity, but should said cat actually be selected for such a mission, it would join the distinguished ranks of 2 other cats who were launched in a rocket before – one in 1963, the other afterwards. Since a cat has proverbially nine lives, we do wish this kitty all the best of luck as it embarks to space in March next year.

Kinect for Windows SDK update lets developers add green screen effects

Kinect for Windows SDK update gives developers a green screen effect

Kinect for Windows developers can now get a little more creative: Microsoft has released version 1.8 of the camera’s SDK, which lets app creators produce a green screen effect by removing the background. The update also brings a new Kinect Fusion API that scans the color of an object in addition to its shape, saving some 3D modelers the trouble of creating a separate texture map. There’s better scene tracking and more code samples, too. Programmers who crave the new software tricks can grab the refreshed SDK and its companion tools at the source links.

LG G Pad 8.3 Might Cost $299 Only

LG G Pad 8.3 Might Cost $299 Only

At the IFA trade show in Berlin earlier this month, LG unveiled its new 8.3 inch G Pad tablet. It has a full HD IPS display which offers a 1,920×1,200 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1.7GHz quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. The tablet is expected to be released in major markets next month, but nothing has been said about pricing up till now. Rumors coming in from unofficial Chinese sources suggest that LG might price its new tablet as low as $299, which will give it a nice leg up on its competition.

LG itself hasn’t said anything about pricing, so this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. Specific release dates aren’t available as yet, though LG is expected to launch the tablet in as many as 30 markets around the world by the end of this year. The rumored price tag will bring LG G Pad 8.3 closer to the new Nexus 7 in terms of pricing, Google’s 7 inch tablet has seen considerable success in the Android tablet market and was also recently refreshed with better hardware. LG G Pad 8.3 has a 16GB internal storage with the option for external expansion via microSD cards. It has a 5 megapixel shooter on the back and a 1.3 megapixel one up front. The tablet may be purchased in either black or white when it is ultimately released next month.
