SNL: New Cast Member Or Arcade Fire?

“Saturday Night Live” had a lot of faces to introduce in its season 39 premiere, with a full six new cast members. In her opening monologue, Tina Fey brought the newbies out on stage and made them dance as a sort of baptism by fire.

SNL: Drunk Uncle Returns To Weekend Update Along With Jesse Pinkman

One of our favorite Weekend Update characters returned for the season 39 premiere, and he didn’t disappoint. Drunk Uncle joined Seth Meyers and new co-anchor Cecily Strong at the desk to talk back-to-school.

As always, D.U. summed up how things were different when he was a kid with succinct eloquence: “You went to school ’til you were eight, and then you got married to a factory.”

Ah, the good old days. Watch the clip above for a brilliant performance by Bobby Moynihan, as well as another cameo by Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman.

Tokyo Micro Apartment Photographs Capture The Beginning Of ‘Tiny Home’ Movement (PHOTOS)

There’s definitely been a surge of interest in living small over the last decade, but the concepts behind the lifestyle have actually been appreciated for much longer. In fact, Kisho Kurokawa was one of the founders of a movement in the ’60s called “Metabolism” which was also based on the idea of flexible design and architecture. In 1972, his Nakagin Capsule Tower was built, which has 140 “capsule” apartments that were meant to be renewed and replaced every 25 years.

Fast forward almost half a century, well after “Metabolism” died out: The building exists, but Kurokawa’s intents for the micro spaces were not carried out, and because of structural issues, it may soon be demolished. Visual artist Noritaka Minami has photographed the current uses of the space — which range from cheap housing alternatives for families, offices and weekend retreats. Scroll through his stunning images below.
