World Of Warcraft Movie To Begin Filming January 2014

World Of Warcraft Movie To Begin Filming January 2014A teaser for the World of Warcraft movie was shown off at Comic-Con not too long ago, and last we heard there was a good chance that the movie could begin filming in 2014. The good news for those looking forward to the movie, recent reports have surfaced suggesting that the movie could begin filming on the 13th of January 2014 with the final product seeing a possible release in 2015. This is thanks to a tweet by a film production tracking database, Production Weekly, in which they claim that Legendary Studios has begun setting up shop in Vancouver, Canada, and is set to begin filming in January 2014.

At the moment not much is known about the movie, or what the story will be about. There are many popular storylines in the Warcraft universe, but seeing them recapped could be boring and Blizzard has stated in the past that one of the reasons the movie has taken so long is because they wanted something fresh for the fans. Duncan Jones will be directing the movie with Charles Leavitt writing the script, but at this point in time there has been no word on casting. In any case it looks like there’s still a fair amount of time to wait before we will see the movie, but are you guys excited? Who would you like to see star in the upcoming movie?

IDC: Phablet Shipments Outnumber Tablets And Portable PCs

IDC: Phablet Shipments Outnumber Tablets And Portable PCs

From left to right: Mega 6.3, Mega 5.8, GS4

When Samsung first unveiled the first Galaxy Note back in IFA a couple of years ago, many thought that it was a novelty and a trend that would not persist. After all a device with such a big screen did not seem very practical since it was larger than a phone, but smaller than a tablet. Fast forward a few years and the phablet is definitely here to stay, and according to a recent report by IDC, it seems that phablets are not only here to stay, but they are a trend that appears to be on a meteoric rise.

The numbers revealed by the IDC has found that device manufacturers have shipped about 25.2 million phablets in the second quarter, which is definitely more when compared to tablets and portable PCs which shipped 12.6 million and 12.7 million respectively. Additional numbers have shown that phablet shipments were up by 100% quarter on quarter, and 620% year over year. Unsurprisingly Samsung appears to be dominating the phablet category and with the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 set to debut at IFA 2013, we can only expect the South Korean’s market share to grow.

What do you guys think? Do you agree that phablets are here to stay? Or do you think that devices like the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 are a little too big for your taste?

Surprising No One, But This Time Everyone, Water Is A Great Lubricant

Water is kind of important, right? Basis for life on Earth, defines biomes and weather, etc. And even on a really small scale water continues to strut its stuff. And we’re talking really small. Researchers have found that water is the optimal lubricant for nanomachines one molecule big, aka a few dozen atoms, aka tiny.

T-600 Is Menacing Even When You Can See Puppeteers Moving It

Stan Winston Schools has released other behind the scenes footage of the T-600 puppet from Terminator Salvation, but this gives a clearer sense of how the animatronics evolved and how important the materials are in any puppet. If it’s not lightweight, but with the stability and feel of whatever it’s representing, it can’t be convincing.

Microsoft Believes Xbox One Is Worth $100 More Than The PS4

Microsoft Believes Xbox One Is Worth $100 More Than The PS4The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are very different consoles, not only in terms of games, but features as well, although one main difference would also be its price. The Xbox One is priced $100 more than the PlayStation 4 and to some gamers, the difference of $100 is a big deal and could be considered a deal-breaker, but Microsoft doesn’t seem to think so. In fact Microsoft is pretty confident about its Xbox One console and has stated that they believe the console is worth $100 more than the PS4.

Speaking the folks at GameSpot during PAX Prime, Microsoft’s Albert Penello was quoted as saying, “It’s up to us to prove that it’s worth $100 more. I think it is.” Penello went on to state the different reasons why the Xbox One was the better system, ending with, “I just believe that we’re going to have a better system.” Penello also did not seem to believe that the difference of $100 would be considered a “deal-killer” for gamers, but what do you guys think? With games costing a fair amount of money as it is, we’re sure the $100 saved could be used towards buying more games, right? Let us know in the comments below!

No Ambassador Program For Early Wii U Adopters

No Ambassador Program For Early Wii U AdoptersBack when Nintendo announced that they would be cutting the prices of the Nintendo 3DS, they launched an Ambassador Program which basically placated early adopters of the 3DS who bought the console at its original price. Now with the Nintendo Wii U about to get a price cut of its own, we’re sure many are wondering if early adopters of the Wii U would be entitled to a similar Ambassador Program of their own as well. Unfortunately for Wii U owners, it does not look like this will be the case. Nintendo fan site Wii U Daily wrote to Nintendo to ask if such a program would be taking place, and the simple answer was no, or at the very least there are no plans for such a program at the moment.

According to the email, “Thank you for taking the time to write with your questions regarding a Wii U Ambassador program. The Ambassador program is only available to any Nintendo 3DS owner who purchased their system before August 12, 2011 and there are no plans for a similar program for Wii U.” This was later confirmed by Nintendo America’s Reggie Fils-Aime when Kotaku reached out to him for confirmation of the email. What do you guys think? Is Nintendo being unfair to early adopters of the Wii U? Or do early adopters of the Wii U not too fussed about it?

Motorola Patent Hints At Possible New Smartwatch

Motorola Patent Hints At Possible New SmartwatchWhen it comes to smartwatches, Motorola is definitely not a newbie to the industry having launched the MOTOACTV smartwatch awhile back, although with rise of smartwatches such as Pebble with Samsung entering the fray with the Samsung Galaxy Gear, we guess we wouldn’t be surprised if Motorola was looking to reevaluate matters and launch something that could compete with existing products. Thanks to a recently discovered Motorola patent, we might have an idea of what sort of device Motorola could be looking to make.

The patent was filed for back in February earlier this year, so it’s safe to say that it’s relatively new instead of an idea that has been sitting around in storage for the past couple of years. The patent describes several features of such a device, one of them being a “gaze detection” feature that would allow the watch to know when the wearer is looking at it. The patent also describes how the watch would feature dual touchscreen displays, and a host of features that includes a heart monitor, a body temperature monitor, a pulse monitor, and etc. for the more fitness-minded consumer.

Of course with this being a patent there’s really no telling if and when Motorola will turn it into a reality, but what do you guys think? Would you like to see a new smartwatch effort from Motorola?
