Bitcoin fans, prepare your passports. If you want to be among the first to use a Bitcoin ATM, head to Canada.

What’s being billed as the world’s first Bitcoin ATM is set to enter service next week in Vancouver, according to local operator and broker Bitcoiniacs and Nevada-based manufacturer Robocoin.

The $18,500 ATM will debut in downtown coffee shop Waves as the first of five Bitcoin machines that will be deployed across the country.

They’ll trade the increasingly popular digital currency for Canadian dollars and vice versa, with a CAD $3,000 daily limit ($2,870) for each user.

The ATMs will use palm scans to identify users and enforce the limit, which is also designed to prevent problems with anti-money-laundering laws.

Users can deposit Canadian cash in the machines and it’s then exchanged on Canada’s … [Read more]

Banana peels: one type of garbage that can be used to make glassFor most people recycling food waste has always meant tossing it into the compost heap and waiting for it to break down. H2O-Pal Helps You Get Your Two Gallons Of Water A Day

The United States National Laboratory Of Water Drinking And Health (not a real laboratory) recommends that all humans drink lots of water all the time. That’s why H2O-Pal exists – it’s a water bottle that tells you how much you’ve drunk and, more important, when you’ve reached the daily goal of two to five gallons (warning: you could probably drink less) needed to stay alive.

The system uses a scale and accelerometer to see how much water you drink during the day. You fill the bottle, snap on the electronics, and hit the town. You can pull the puck-like device off of the bottle for washing. It then connects to your iPhone via Bluetooth to report your drinking habits.

They are asking for $95,000 on Kickstarter with devices starting at $59. They will sell for $69 when H2O-Pal launches in February. The Ljubljana-based company showed me prototypes of the system last summer and I was duly impressed. Anything that can ensure that we liquid-based lifeforms maintain our juiciness is A-OK in my book.

One Button Costs Google $110 Million

This article was written on November 21, 2007 by CyberNet.

Im Feeling Lucky Back in October Google’s Vice President of search products, Marissa Mayer, said that less than 1% of Google’s visitors use the I’m Feeling Lucky button. I wasn’t surprised to hear that it was used that little, but despite being such a small percentage it still has a big impact on Google.

When users click on the I’m Feeling Lucky button they are immediately taken to the website of the first result. That means they bypass the search results page all together, and thereby miss all of the ads. Although the I’m Feeling Lucky button gets little usage analysts are estimating that having the button costs Google $110 million in ad revenue every year.

I’m sure the estimated revenue from the button is a little bit off since we don’t know exact usage stats, but the fact of the matter is that it costs them millions of dollars. Google is leaving that button there simply because people have grown accustomed to see it, but who would have thought that they would lose out on millions of dollars because of it?

El Clasico Goals By Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona, Zidane And More In Barcelona-Real Madrid Feud (VIDEO)

With Barcelona and Real Madrid facing off in 167th edition of El Clasico at Camp Nou on Saturday, each side is set to introduce another superstar to the feud. Gareth Bale is finally fit for Madrid and Neymar is mindful of the occasion as well flush with ambition for the Blaugrana.

“The Clasico is the most important game for any player and is the match every player wants to play in. It is the game where each player wants to play his best football,” Neymar told Sky Sports. “This will be my first Clasico and I hope to have a great debut, preferably with a victory.”

A strong performance in this fixture by either Bale or Neymar would go along way toward cementing their places with their new clubs and justifying those exorbitant fees. For advice on how to perform in the cauldron of El Clasico, Neymar need look no further than teammate Lionel Messi. Not only did Messi tie Madrid icon Alfredo Di Stéfano’s record of 18 El Clasico goals in March 2013 but he established himself as a bona fide international superstar with an epic hat trick against Barcelona’s rival as a 19-year-old in 2007. In the other dressing room, Bale can consult Cristiano Ronaldo, who is not far behind Messi on that goals list.
