Xiaomi Mi3 Sells 100,000 Units In Just 86 Seconds

Xiaomi Mi3 Sells 100,000 Units In Just 86 SecondsWhile Xiaomi might not exactly be a brand well-known in the US, it is a pretty big name over in China. How big, you ask? Well it seems that the Xiaomi’s recently released Mi3 is so popular to the point where in China, the company managed to sell 100,000 units in just 86 seconds since orders went live, so assuming the momentum keeps up, we can only imagine just how many units of the Mi3 Xiaomi managed to sell over the weekend. Of course given that the handset is not only well-specced but decently priced, it seems like a recipe for success. The handset is priced at around $327 for the 16GB model, while the 64GB model was priced at $410, which admittedly is pretty darn affordable for the most part.

For those who are hearing about the Xiaomi Mi3 for the first time, the handset was unveiled officially back in September, although it was the subject of many leaks and rumors leading up to it. The device features a 5” Full HD display and will be powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra-4 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz, or a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. It will feature 2GB of RAM and will sport a 13MP Sony Exmor RCMOS rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, a 3,050mAh battery and will feature the company’s latest MIUI interface. Not too shabby for that price, right?

Google Play Newsstand Discovered In APK Teardown

Google Play Newsstand Discovered In APK TeardownWhile Google Play might have started out just offering apps for Android users, Google has over time expanded the offerings in its Play store and covered areas such as music, movies, magazines, books, and etc. However it seems that Google might be either looking to introduce a new feature, or perhaps consolidate its magazines, thanks to hints spotted in Google Play version 4.4 where the folks at Android Police discovered a portal called “Newssstand”. The idea of Google creating a news stand of sorts is definitely not new as in the past it has been referred to as Google Play News, but with the APK teardown of the latest version of Google Play, it appears that Google has decided to go with a different name for it.

While it is unclear as to what it might do, Android Police believes that it will take the place of Play Magazines and will be known as Play Newsstand instead, suggesting that the consolidation would mean that both digital magazines and newspaper subscriptions will fall under the same area, as opposed to having two separate sections which could make things a bit messy. The APK teardown also reveals that there will be a free trial offered, allowing users to try out the magazine/newspaper format on their phones before deciding if they want to subscribe to it, with the description reading, “Your favorite magazines and news are right here on Google Play. Pick up the latest issues or try out a free trial subscription. Read instantly with the Play Newsstand app, even offline.”

It is unclear as to when Google Play Newsstand will be announced, but chances are it could be announced alongside the release of Android 4.4 KitKat and the new Google Neus 5 handset.

Conan: Bill Gates a total failure, I am LinkedIn’s Gladwell

Conan O’Brien has always had aspirations beyond comedy. He’s a tad power-mad, it seems to me.

However, after his ignominious exit from NBC and his descent onto cable, he must have felt that his corporate brand had been tarnished and his power-base resembled the Colosseum in Rome.

He decided to take the first steps toward rehabilitation by joining LinkedIn.

The minute he launched his profile, he promised he would “conquer” the site. Like many a Roman in times gone by, he has now commenced his assault. He has become a LinkedIn influencer.

You must have read at least one LinkedIn influencer post. They are written by esteemed humans who try to explain to you in simple words why they deserve more esteem than you.

Conan’s first Influencer post appeared on Sunday. A powerful statement it made, too.

    Xbox One Achievement Notification Spotted

Xbox One Achievement Notification SpottedThe Xbox One from Microsoft is about to be launched near the end of next month, which means we are more or less one month away from its official release – at least in the US. Hence, it would be great if we could get our hands on all stuff that has to do with the next generation game console, right? For those of you out there who have been wondering about how the notification for unlocking an Xbox One achievement would look like, fret not. The screen capture that you see above depicts it all.

Apparently, it does feel as though the notification itself has already shrunk in terms of size from the Xbox 360, where it will now carry a green two-tone background, which will be flashed up with the the name of the corresponding achievement as well as its Gamerscore value. Similar to the Xbox 360, Microsoft ensures that there is a sense of continuity, as players will continue to be able to find out more details concerning this recently unlocked achievement simply by pushing the Xbox button. Do you like what you see so far? A more minimalist approach definitely paves the way for a cleaner overall ‘look’, don’t you think so? Hopefully it will resonate well across gamers of the new Xbox One.
