Sheriff’s Deputy Saved By Her iPhone Charging Cable

Sheriffs Deputy Saved By Her iPhone Charging CableJust the other day we heard how a HTC EVO 3D managed to save the life of a gas station clerk when a bullet was fired at him, with the phone standing in the way of the bullet and the man’s chest, ultimately absorbing the shock and impact of the bullet that might have otherwise killed him. Coincidentally it seems that a LA County Sheriff’s deputy also had her life saved, but not by a phone, but by an Apple iPhone charging cable instead, which is admittedly pretty interesting given that the charging cable isn’t exactly as sturdy or solid when compared to a phone. The deputy was shot at during a shooting and the bullet would have entered her hip had it not been for the fact that the deputy was carrying her Lightning cable in her pocket.

While the deputy was injured as a result of the shooting, it was not as severe as it could have been as reports claim that the cable actually helped to deflect the bullet. A post from the LA County Sheriff’s Twitter account has referred to this as a miracle, which we can’t help but agree. Now we have to wonder if accidental shootings would be covered under Apple’s warranty, especially since the cable looks like it is in no state to charge an iOS device anytime soon.

Space Gray Found To Be Most Popular Choice For iPhone 5s, Blue For iPhone 5c

Space Gray Found To Be Most Popular Choice For iPhone 5s, Blue For iPhone 5cThe iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c comes in a multitude of colors, with the iPhone 5s being available in Gold, Space Gray, and Silver, while the iPhone 5c comes in Pink, Yellow, White, Green, and Blue, but which color is the most popular? Well according to a survey conducted by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, it has been found that the Space Gray finish is the most popular for the iPhone 5s, while Blue is the most popular choice when it comes to the iPhone 5c. This is particularly interesting given that the Gold iPhone 5s was originally report as a hit, especially amongst Chinese customers, but we guess this might not necessarily apply to everyone.

The overall popularity of both colors can actually be further split based on gender, which is what the survey has done. They found that men typically favored the Space Gray finish on the iPhone 5s, while women had a slight preference to Silver, while Gold was a somewhat equal split. For the iPhone 5c, white was the most popular choice for men, while women seem to gravitate towards pink. According to CIRP Partner and Co-Founder, Mike Levin, “iPhone 5S and 5C colors seem to confirm some traditional gender biases. In the iPhone 5C, men prefer the neutral white, and the Space Gray in the iPhone 5S. In contrast, women prefer lighter silver 5S and the brighter iPhone 5C colors. Interestingly, no one, including the women in the survey, appears to want the Yellow iPhone 5C very much.”

Apple Announces Fix Incoming For MacBook Pros With Keyboard/Trackpad Issues

Apple Announces Fix Incoming For MacBook Pros With Keyboard/Trackpad IssuesThe other day we reported that late 2013 MacBook Pros were suffering from keyboard and trackpad freezing issues. Well the good news is that Apple has since acknowledged the issue and has stated that a fix will be coming soon.“Apple is aware of rare circumstances where the built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive on 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (Late 2013) computers and is working on an update to resolve this behavior.” It is unknown as to when the fix will be released, but hopefully for the sake of new MacBook Pro owners, it will be sooner rather than later.

This issue has affected Apple’s latest 13” Retina MacBook Pros and is definitely not the kind of experience they want first-time MacBook Pro customers to have. The glitch is such that for some reason or the other, the keyboard and/or the trackpad of the laptop will suddenly freeze and stop working and that the only way to actually get the keyboard and trackpad to start working again would be a hard reset, which is accomplished by pressing and holding onto the Power button on their computers. As it stands there is a thread going on at Apple’s support page that spans 67 pages where numerous MacBook Pro owners have voiced their complaints over the matter.
