Predator Carved out of a Tree: Get to the Wood Choppa!

Predators are the galaxy’s most fearsome and brutal warriors. They will rip your spine clean out, with your skull still attached. And they like to take trophies to remind them of their hunt. So a Predator would just love this tree with a predator head carved into it.

This entire carving took about 90 hours to complete and is the work of one Simon Patel from Walsall, UK. He is one ugly mother! No, not Simon, silly, the tree. Quick get to da choppa! Wait its just a hunk of wood. It’s all cool.

Bonus: his head is flat, so you could give him a different hat every day if you were so inclined. An Abe Lincoln hat, a beanie. Now that would be cool. It would also make this guy far less terrifying.

U.S. Never Defaulted On Its Debt? Not So Fast

WASHINGTON — WASHINGTON (AP) — You hear the same proud claim every time Washington wrestles with the debt limit: The United States has never defaulted. But the record’s not that clean. America has stiffed creditors on at least two occasions.

Psychological Support Could Lead To Better Outcomes For Heart Patients

Social and spiritual support really do matter when it comes to surviving disease, research suggests.

Heart disease patients who receive psychological support are less likely to die from their disease or return to the hospital, according to a new review of studies presented at the annual meeting of the Acute Cardiovascular Care Association of the European Society of Cardiology.

“The nurses on our coronary care unit observed that patients were less likely to have another heart attack, die, or return to [the] hospital when we talked to them about their treatment, played music for them or helped religious patients to say prayers,” study researcher Zoi Aggelopoulou, a nurse from Athens, Greece, said in a statement. “It made us think that coronary heart disease is not just physical but also has a psychological component.”

Exercise Could Protect You From Esophageal Cancer

Making sure to get that workout in could help lower your risk of developing esophageal cancer, according to a new study.

Mayo Clinic researchers found an association between physical activity and risk of the cancer, with physically active people having a 32 percent lower risk of developing one of the two forms of esophageal cancer, called esophageal adenocarcinoma (cancer that starts in the mucus-producing cells).

“Although the incidence of esophageal squamous cell cancer is declining worldwide, the incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma has been rapidly rising. This increase may be partly attributable to the obesity epidemic,” study researcher Siddharth Singh, M.B.B.S., of the Mayo Clinic, said in a statement.
