Iron Man is one superhero who is nothing but flesh and bone underneath that high tech suit, but he is also one of the coolest thanks to the brilliant mind of Tony Stark hiding behind the mask. Well, here we are with the $129.99 Iron Man ArtFX Statue that would arrive in the form of an extremely detailed Mark XLII armor, sporting LED lighting in the Arc Reactor/Unibeam, eyes, and repulsor areas. Of course, it goes without saying that this is an officially licensed Marvel collectible, so do not fret and wonder whether you are handing over good money for a bootlegged product.
Since it is the Mark XLII that we are talking about, it would make perfect sense (some might even call it, paying homage) that you would piece this particular Iron Man together from separate pieces. If you do not have any experience at all when it comes to building models, fret not, since it will not require such a skill set in the first place, and neither does it require you to implant computer chips into your forearms. All in all, there are just half a dozen pieces which have been pre-painted, and they would snap together in a rather satisfying manner. Hence, this is a “statue” and not a “model,” although you can be sure that it does straddle the lines on both territories at once. A trio of LR44 batteries are required to juice this puppy to have it looking nice on your mantel.

Microsoft is certainly serious with their Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system, as they have introduced Update 3 for Windows Phone 8. Update 3 will bring with it additional live tiles among other improvements as well as new features, which should do its part to ensure that the smartphone platform would be able to make it through this holiday sales cycle without missing out on a single bit. Some of the new set of code would be additional support for faster processors, larger displays, higher resolution displays, and improved Internet sharing among others.
This is definitely the ideal way to celebrate Windows Phone’s third birthday as a public smartphone platform. Basically, you can drop the Windows Phone 8.1 moniker as its carries the official name of ‘Windows Phone 8 Update 3.’ Oh yeah, did we forget to mention that the update will also bring along with it accessibility upgrades, in addition to a brand new developer program which would ensure that this new firmware would end up in the hands of developers in a faster manner than ever before. It does seem as though Microsoft is hoping that new hardware is required to breath new life into its range of Windows Phone handsets, instead of dramatically revamped software, as part of its effort to increase their market share. Nearly a week ago, we reported that Yahoo has introduced a revamp of Yahoo Mail to celebrate its 16th birthday. I guess it is not all sweet sixteen as expected, since the major Yahoo Mail redesign resulted in key functions removed or broken. Needless to say, this has led to thousands of upset Yahoo Mail users who have informed the Internet giant that the recent redesign is a massive disaster, and they do want Yahoo to do away with the new and bring back the old. Of course, amidst all of this would be additional reports of serious technical issues that continue to happen.
It has hardly been a week since the Yahoo Mail redesign, and plenty of flak had already been picked up. Many users are upset that they are no longer able to organize their Inbox by Tabs or Sort by Sender, and neither are they able to view their Folders unless they leave the Inbox, which is rather inconvenient. Not only that, new emails are no longer bold, while the delete button’s placement of being next to the sender name has proved nothing short of disastrous. Needless to say, Yahoo had better get their act together and fix things up, fast! Otherwise, they can continue to see their market share slide.

Writing a decent story is hard enough, but taking that story and turning it into a watchable film is even more complicated. But new software called Plotagon aims to turn anyone into a one-man movie-making machine. It uses a simple menu-based interface that helps you build a script, which turns into a computer-animated video as you’re writing it. Is it perfect? Nope. Far from it. It looks really fun though.
As you can see in the image above, Plotagon is divided into two parts: on the left is where you’ll write your manuscript, and on the right is a video player that shows you what your movie looks like. You don’t need to know the proper format for a manuscript or even have a deep vocabulary, because Plotagon cheats.
Since it would take an insanely complex program to read your mind or even parse your paragraph and figure out what you’re describing, Plotagon instead has a bank of scenes, characters, actions and more. As you pick out each element, it appears on your manuscript and is visualized in the video player almost instantaneously. It’s a bit like playing The Sims.
The only thing you can’t pick from Plotagon’s stock is the dialogue, which your digital actors will speak in silly synthesized voices. I don’t know if it supports other languages besides English though.
Plotagon is currently in beta, and is available for both Windows and OS X. You can download a free trial version on its official website, where you can also see a few short films made with the program. Plotagon will make money from its store, which will sell more characters, settings, etc. Imagine a Marvel character pack or a Star Wars location bundle. In fact, Stan Lee is going to make four new superheroes just for Plotagon. Imagine sharing co-creating duties with Stan the Man himself!
