Samsung Galaxy Gear Ad Released

If there’s one other thing that Samsung is known for, it would be their ability to put out great ads. The South Korean tech giant has recently released an ad for its smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Gear. The basically draws upon the numerous smartwatches that have made an appearance on film, television, and even cartoons, essentially likening their product to what’s been shown in the past, with the title reading, “A Long Time Coming”, as if to suggest that they were the ones who finally made fiction, a reality. It is admittedly a pretty clever ad although we’re not sure if it will be enough to convince consumers to purchase the device.

While the Galaxy Gear is a decent attempt by Samsung, some niggling issues have left many wondering if the device is more novel than functional. One of the drawbacks is its battery life which only lasts a day and no one really likes having to charge their watch on a daily basis, do they? The fact that the Galaxy Gear is not compatible with all devices out of the box is an issue as well, although Samsung is working on bringing more support for it in the future. In any case if you have a minute to spare, check out the Galaxy Gear ad in the video above.

Tiny Tower Gets A Star Wars Makeover With Tiny Death Star

Tiny Tower Gets A Star Wars Makeover With Tiny Death StarStar Wars is without doubt a pretty popular franchise and we have seen how some mobile games, namely Rovio’s Angry Birds have launched Star Wars based games in the past. Well now it looks like Tiny Tower will be cashing in on the Star Wars hype as well with the upcoming release of Star Wars: Tiny Death Star. The game will be developed by NimbleBit and based on what we know so far, will allow gamers to develop a new Death Star similar to how players were tasked to develop a tower in the previous version of the game. We can assume that several big names will be dropping by, at least based on the 8-bit characters in the picture above.

Not much else is known about the game, such as pricing or availability. There is a good chance the game could be free to download but players will be charged if they wish to purchase additional items that will help speed things up, much like its predecessor. The game is expected to “arrive soon” for mobile devices. Given that Tiny Tower was released on iOS and Android devices, we expect the same treatment will be given to Star Wars: Tiny Death Star as well. So, who else is looking forward to getting their hands on the game?

Apple Faces Backlash After Removing Anti-Censorship App In China

Apple Faces Backlash After Removing Anti Censorship App In ChinaChina is well-known for their censorship and have in the past (and still are) blocked access by their residents to well-known social media websites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. While this is a great opportunity for businesses in China to develop alternatives, such as Weibo and Youku, safe to say the content will differ greatly from the original. One app on the Chinese iTunes App Store called Open Door allowed users to circumvent China’s censorship firewall by masking users’ identities while they surfed the web. Unfortunately Apple has since pulled the app from the app store, leading many to criticize the Cupertino company’s latest move.

This is not the first time Apple has done something similar in order to keep peace with the Chinese government, presumably to allow them to keep selling their products in China and not be slapped with unnecessary hurdles. Apple states that apps are beholden to the laws of the country in which they are sold. The developers of the app claim they were not notified beforehand before the app was pulled and stated that they will not challenge Apple’s decision in fear of retaliation. According to one developer, “Unfortunately we’re not aware of any app developer ever [who was successful] in challenging Apple’s decision. In fact, we won’t be surprised if Apple decides to pull our app from all App Stores and/or terminates our account in retaliation.”

Perfect Drink Bartender Will Allow You To Mix The Perfect Drink

Perfect Drink Bartender Will Allow You To Mix The Perfect DrinkWe’ve seen our fair share of electronic bartending devices in the past, with some even designed to look like robots, but if you’re after something a little more accessible and possibly more affordable, the Perfect Drink bartender could be what you’re after. As pictured above, the Perfect Drink bartender appears to be a mix of a weighing scale of sorts combined with an app for iOS and Android. Basically what the scale does is that it allows the bartender to pour out drinks and based on the weight in the glass so far, it will be able to tell when you have poured enough. After all we’re sure some of you guys are sick of having drinks either watered down or overly strong despite ordering from the same bar, so this little gadget should aid with consistency.

The app will come preloaded with a library of cocktails that you will be able to mix up and when paired with the drink scale (similar to another device called the Barman), will let you know how much to pour and when to pour, allowing aspiring bartenders to create fancy layered drinks like the one pictured above (which based on past work experience is not as easy as the photo makes it out to be!). In any case if you’re interested in picking up the Perfect Drink for yourself, hit up Fancy’s website where you will be able to order one for yourself for $70 (the companion app is free).

BlackBerry Z30 Could See $700 Off-Contract Price Tag

BlackBerry Z30 Could See $700 Off Contract Price TagThe BlackBerry Z30 was officially announced a few weeks ago and we’re sure some of you guys are wondering just how much this bad boy will cost you. While it is not a guarantee that the US market or markets around the world will adhere to this price, you can use it as a rough indication of what to expect. Thanks to a leaked screenshot obtained by the folks at Mobile Syrup, it has been revealed that the upcoming BlackBerry Z30 will cost $700 in Canada, but it should be noted that this price is for the device off-contract. Those who do not enjoy being tied to a contract can look forward to paying for the device in full, although it was not mentioned as to how much it would cost with a contract and after it has been subsidized, but presumably we can look forward to prices of $149 or maybe even $199.

For our Canadian readers, the handset is set to launch on the 15th of October and you can look forward to picking it up then with the exception of Rogers as the carrier has announced they will not be stocking it. The BlackBerry Z30 is a 5” 720p HD phablet and will feature a quad-core chipset and what BlackBerry is calling “Natural Sound” technology.  We’re not sure if the Z30 will be enough to save the company but BlackBerry users who wished that their devices had a larger display, this would be it.
