Google Patent Will Automatically Respond To Social Media Messages That Sounds Like You

Google Patent Will Automatically Respond To Social Media Messages That Sounds Like YouFor those of you who manage incredibly popular Facebook pages or Twitter accounts, sometimes replying to all messages is just not possible, even though you’d love to be able to do that. Copying and pasting a canned response is not ideal either as it just shows that you don’t really care, plus no one likes having canned responses read back to them anyway. Well according to a recent patent by Google, it looks as though the company is trying to take the social out of social networking, but automatically responding to messages with a “personalized reaction”.

Basically how it works is that the system will take into account your past posts and your past replies to such posts, and based on that it will learn the type of response that you might offer in a particular situation or comment. For example if you are often tagged in funny photos or posts, and your typical response would be “Hahaha” or “LOL!”, then the system would then respond to future posts with a similar reply which would sound as though it came from you! It is a good idea but it does seem a bit counterproductive at the same time. After all the point of social media is interaction, and if a system/robot does it for you, there really is not much point left, right? What do you guys think?

Honda To Introduce iOS Mirroring In 2014 Civic Model

Honda To Introduce iOS Mirroring In 2014 Civic ModelEarlier this year it was announced that Honda would be getting some iOS integration in its vehicles with the Siri Eyes Free feature, which basically allowed drivers to activate and use Siri through the car’s controls, as opposed to actually having to hold the device which could be dangerous. Well it looks like Honda’s integration will be taken one step further, and according to reports, Honda is set to make an announcement early December where iOS integration will be taken deeper into their 2014 Honda Civic vehicles.

At this time it is not clear what we could be looking at, but one feature is said to be iOS mirroring where drivers will be able to interact with their iOS device through a 7” multitouch display built into the vehicle’s dash, similar to what was shown off during Apple’s WWDC 2013 event where the company unveiled the iOS in the Car feature. According to the folks at 9to5Mac, this might not be all as their source has informed them that the feature is “more than just simple mirroring”. Either way check back with us at a later date for the details, but in the meantime what do you guys think? It’s starting to look as though the platform wars will be taken to vehicles as well!

Jony Ive Designed (RED) Mac Pro Fetches $977,000 At Auction

Jony Ive Designed (RED) Mac Pro Fetches $977,000 At AuctionApple has a series of products that bear the (RED) tag, which are essentially products where a portion of its sales are donated to charity. This has resulted in Apple products such as iPods and accessories which bear the tag, and recently a specially designed Mac Pro by Apple’s own design guru, Jony Ive, and Marc Newson. At that time it was expected that this special edition Mac Pro could fetch anywhere between $40,000-$60,000, which is admittedly a lot more than what the original computer is worth, but it looks like those expectations have since been shattered as the computer has managed to fetch an eye-watering $977,000 at auction!

The auction was held at Sotheby’s and was meant to benefit The Global Fund to help fight AIDS. In fact this auction has managed to beat out the previous record holder, an Apple 1 computer which sold for $640,000. Other products designed by Ive and Newson were also sold for far more than their estimates, such as the Rose Gold Apple Earpods that fetched $461,000, a custom Leica camera that fetched $1.8 million, and a (RED) desk that fetched $1.6 million. While this was done for charity, it certainly won’t help Apple’s reputation of charging way more for products than what they really are worth. What do you guys think? Would any of you have paid that much if you had that much money lying around?

Aaron Murray Injury: Georgia QB Facing Season-Ending Knee Surgery

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Coach Mark Richt says the play that ended quarterback Aaron Murray’s season wasn’t the senior’s final snap when he was flung to the ground by Kentucky defensive end Za’Darius Smith.

Richt said Sunday Murray heard a pop in his left knee when he made a cut on his 28-yard run on Georgia’s earlier possession in the second quarter on Saturday night. Murray was limping at the end of that series, which ended with his touchdown pass to tight end Arthur Lynch. But he remained in the game for one more possession.

Heritage Foundation’s Michael Needham Tears Apart Right Wing

On a Thursday evening at the end of August, a respectable, older crowd waited in the ballroom of the Double Tree in Wilmington, Delaware, to hear Jim DeMint speak. The dashing former South Carolina senator and Tea Party icon had been flying around the country on a private jet to stump for the cause of defunding Obamacare, and Wilmington was the last stop on his nine-city tour. In Dallas, he was joined by his protégé Ted Cruz, but most of the time it was just DeMint and his barker, Michael Needham.

Apple confirms PrimeSense buyout, paves way for motion-controlled future (updated)

    PrimeSense sensor

At last, the will-it-or-won’t-it drama surrounding Apple’s rumored acquisition of PrimeSense is over. The iPhone maker has confirmed the deal with AllThingsD, issuing its now familiar statement that it buys smaller companies “from time to time.” The company isn’t discussing its plans or the terms of the deal, but ATD‘s sources claim that PrimeSense sold for about $360 million, or more than the $345 million that Calcalist reported a week ago. Whatever the value, it’s clear that motion control will play a role in Apple’s future — the crew in Cupertino now has access to 3D sensor technology that works in everything from living room devices to smartphones.

Update: PrimeSense has confirmed the acquisition to us, stating “We can confirm the deal with Apple. Further than that, we cannot comment at this stage.”

Google Teams Up With VSP Global For Prescription Google Glass

Google Teams Up With VSP Global For Prescription Google GlassThe design of Google Glass is actually pretty cool. It looks clean and minimalist and futuristic at the same time. Obviously not everyone loves its design, and for those who wear prescription glasses, this design obviously gets in the way. Now we know that Google will support prescription glasses and have recently teamed up with Rochester Optical to create such glasses, but the good news is that Google will be extending their efforts and are reportedly in talks with VSP Global (via The Wall Street Journal) to help develop special prescription lenses for Glass, and are also working with optometrists to ensure that they will be able to help fit their customers with Glass upon its launch.

According to VSP Chief Executive, Rob Lynch, the talks are in its early stages and there is no formal agreement yet, although Google will most likely be able to benefit from the company’s extensive network of eye doctors and their 60 million odd customer base. Like we said, the design of Glass is not necessarily one approved by everyone, and we’ve also seen how Google has tried to create more fashionable options for their customers. By expanding beyond just one company, this would certainly create more options for potential Glass customers in the future.

Nokia Commands 90% Of Windows Phone Install Base

Nokia Commands 90% Of Windows Phone Install BaseA few years ago, many were surprised by Nokia’s decision to throw their lot in with Microsoft and their Windows Phone platform. Symbian was obviously fading, and fast, and MeeGo on the Nokia N9 was a one-time deal for whatever reason, leaving Windows Phone and Android open as options. Android was the more obvious choice given the fact that it would be free for use, and how it is more popular, although it seems that Samsung’s dominance might have been a bit of a put-off. In any case fast forward to 2013 and according to recent numbers released by AdDuplex, it has been found that Nokia commands a whopping 90% of the Windows Phone market.

Basically this means that almost every Windows Phone out there today is a Nokia Lumia handset, and given that Nokia’s numbers in 2013 had them at 76%, this is a pretty impressive jump, demonstrating how Nokia has clearly dominated the Windows Phone market. To that end it is not surprising that Microsoft would want a piece of that action, where they would be able to control not just the software, but the hardware side of things as well, just like what Apple is doing with their iOS devices, and what Google is trying to do with their Nexus phones and tablets as well.
