Kentucky Fried Chicken Candle: Nostril Sniffin’ Good

If Kentucky Fried Chicken is finger licking good, what is a Kentucky Fried Chicken candle? Nostril sniffin’ good? These candles will really set the mood if you find KFCs to be romantic. Light one up, get your bucket of bones, meat and grease ready and dig in for a special night. Smell that aroma.

Imagine your whole house smelling like 11 herbs and spices. These candles are made by frying chicken in an all-natural soy wax, so that smell is the real deal. You’ll soon find these candles at Kentucky for Kentucky, but they are a limited edition so you’ll need to move quick – which might be a problem if you’re eating too much fried chicken.

If the Colonel were still alive he would have one in every room.

Solidoodle 4 keeps 3D printing under $1,000 (video)

Sam Cervantes didn’t stand on his new printer when he brought it by our offices the other day. He thought about it for second, a nice reprise of the day he introduced us to its predecessor late last year, but, well, he’d only just pulled that first unit out of the box for the first time, and he didn’t want to scuff up its finish or dent the new enclosure. As to whether the new 3D printer could sustain the weight of a full grown man, he certainly thinks so. It’s still got that steel structure, after all. Maybe we can convince him to put on a show at CES in January.

Structural integrity questions aside, the latest printer from Solidoodle is a nice looking thing, certainly. As the Brooklyn-based company began looking to expand its sales footprint beyond enthusiast-based direct marketing, it no doubt realized that it would have to produce a product that could live on store shelves comfortably next to, say, a laptop or an HP printer. It sounds silly, sure, but big box stores aren’t particularly interested in stocking products that look as though they might have been built in someone’s garage. For all its charms, the Solidoodle 3 had a certain home-brewed quality to it. The new printer goes firmly in the other direction, with a metal enclosure that wouldn’t look too out of place in a lot of homes.%Gallery-slideshow122778%

Are super-compact EVs the ride of the future?

TOKYO — How would you fancy riding around in something that can go 30 miles on a charge and costs around $1?

Super-compact electric vehicles have been on roads in Japan for a while, and more models are coming out as major automakers experiment with architecture and features.

Some look like golf carts or even the gas-powered tricycle mopeds commonly used for pizza and other deliveries in densely populated Japanese cities.

Single-seater Coms EVs made by Toyota Auto Body sell for around $7,400 in Japan and are used by farmers, cable TV technicians, milk delivery workers, and even Buddhist monks visiting parishioners.

Xbox One Kinect Teardown Reveals Its Fairly Easy To Repair

The iFixit team opened up the Xbox One yesterday to reveal its sweet, sweet innards, which one of the discoveries they made was the ease at which its hard drive can be removed. In case you forgot, the Xbox One also comes with the new Kinect, which Microsoft has shown us several demos of the device in action, but didn’t talk about what’s sitting inside of the camera’s shell. Well – wonder no more as iFixit has taken apart the Kinect 2.0. (more…)

Motorola inks deal with 3D Systems to build its modular ‘Ara’ smartphones

When Motorola threw its weight behind Phonebloks’ modular smartphone concept, it pretty much signaled to the rest of the industry that the Google company was dead serious about customization. But that radical vision of a completely upgradeable handset needs an equally radical manufacturing partner and Motorola’s found that in 3D Systems. Today, the two companies have announced a multi-year deal that’ll see 3D Systems building what Motorola calls “the factory of the future,” and providing a complete end-to-end fabrication process for ‘Project Ara.’ As part of the deal, Motorola’s exclusively tasking 3D Systems with creating new “multi-material printing capabilities including conductive and functional materials” to build these modules (e.g., chassis, battery, etc.) and help it keep pace with eventual consumer demand for ‘Ara’ phones. That’s all if 3D Systems can prove its undeveloped printing process actually, you know, works. If not, well, 3D Systems can kiss that exclusivity agreement goodbye.

Virgin Galactic now accepting Bitcoin for future flights into space

As the value and credibility of Bitcoin continues to skyrocket, Virgin founder Richard Branson now wants to let people use the digital currency to finance a flight into space. Ahead of its first trips next year, Virgin Galactic has already had one “future astronaut” from Hawaii book a Bitcoin-funded ticket and hopes that its affluent clientele will follow suit. An investor himself, Branson has been pushing for governments to regulate the peer-to-peer payment system and believes that today’s announcement will give it more credibility. Neither Virgin Galactic nor Branson has indicated just how many Bitcoins you’ll need before you get a return ticket to the heavens, but we suspect this isn’t the future that Gene Roddenberry was planning.
