As the analytical tools of archaeology rapidly shift toward the use of non-invasive, digital visualization—including such things as ground-penetrating radar and LiDAR—we’re seeing more and more examples of archaeologists setting off into distant landscapes, drones in hand

The folks over at Microsoft has introduced a new app that is known as Project Sienna, and it looks set to be a staple app. What is the whole point of Project Siena? It is meant to assist you in the creation of apps, where within the app itself, you can then publish it over to the Microsoft Store without having to fork out a single cent. How does Project Siena work? Download and install it (the download link is at the end of the story), and after launching it with some technical know how, you will then be able to churn out your very first app in a matter of minutes.
Those who have had experience with Visual Basic before should not feel as though it is out of place, where the app will be somewhat similar in nature, and assuming you are also familiar with Excel, Project Siena should not be too hard to work with since the expressions are said to be similar in nature if you want to hook up to your data. Project Siena’s targets include business experts and analysts, although it can also be used by anyone who happens to want to find an easy way to create apps which will be able to gain access to curated content via external streams. Ever since Android 4.4 KitKat was released a few weeks back, people who own Android devices have been wondering exactly when the latest update is going to be released for their particular device. Since the initial launch for Nexus devices, KitKat has been making its way to other Android smartphones and tablets. Next in line are the Verizon exclusive Motorola Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini smartphones. All three receive Android 4.4 KitKat update today.
While Verizon has often been criticized for taking a lot of time when it comes to updates, the carrier was actually the first to release KitKat for Moto X. Microsoft Talks Up Bing Future
Posted in: Today's ChiliIs there a future for Microsoft’s Bing? The answer is of course, a resounding yes! In fact, it was not too long ago when Microsoft rolled out a Bing Maps preview edition for Windows 8.1 users, where users were able to enjoy various features including full 3D photographic maps for 70 worldwide cities among others. Well, it seems that there are more changes that are in the pipeline for Bing Maps down the road.
Apparently, Bing Maps intends to enhance one’s mapping experiences a whole lot more in the future, with a vision for maps where everything will be annotated with useful information, among them including just what buildings are called, the kind of stores that are located within, a way to get in touch with such stores, as well as the time that the stores are open. The additional and deeper level of integration into maps will hopefully make digital maps a whole lot more useful compared to what is currently offered, but it does not sound as though this highly ambitious plan will be introduced anytime in the near future. Microsoft did state at the end though, “Moving forward, you will see us mapping more of everything – both the web and the real world.” [Press Release]

The $500 TV Dinner
Posted in: Today's ChiliHow much would you pay for a ready-to-eat dinner? Most people wouldn’t pay more than five or ten bucks, but this luxurious food platter by Chef Charlie Bigham might just convince a couple of folks to change their minds – and their perceptions – of what TV dinners are.
Most of the ones you’ve already tried are probably of the frozen, microwaveable variety. They’re not all that bad, but they aren’t particularly good either. London chef Chef Bigham’s dinner tray, called “Swish Pie,” on the other hand, should be more than just delicious because a description of what it contains is already enough to make most people’s mouths water.
The finest British lobster, wild turbot, fresh diver-caught scallops, Balik smoked salmon and oysters, all poached in our exquisite Dom Perignon champagne sauce and nestled beneath fresh white Alba truffle, creamy mashed Yukon Gold heritage potatoes and a crunchy 24-carat gold leaf crumb. Served in a 24-carat gold leaf tray with an amuse-bouche of Beluga caviar.
To guarantee the safe arrival of the Swish Pie, each dish will be delivered in a bespoke aluminium case by a professional security guard – who will be handcuffed to the ready meal until it’s been delivered to its buyer.
The entire meal costs £314.16 or about $516(USD), and can be purchased from Charlie Bingham’s.

John Scalzi, author of “Redshirts” “My 2013 object of techno-lust is the Droid Maxx, because it’s a good phone tied to an astoundingly massive battery. With the amount I travel these days, the last thing I want to be is one of those lost souls in an airport, phone charge down to 5 percent, preparing to fight someone for an outlet.

Nokia Moneypenny = Lumia 630/635 (depending on configuration)
— @evleaks (@evleaks) December 19, 2013
According to @evleaks, the rumored Nokia Moneypenny (which we first talked about in November this year, where it was followed by another rumor later in the month that it will be a dual SIM handset) will soon be released in the form of either the Nokia Lumia 630 as well as the Nokia Lumia 635. It remains to be seen what kind of difference is there between both variants, but the model numbers do point towards the possibility of a mid-range or low end handset.
Of course, we are also not ruling out the very real possibility that these will be able to succeed the Lumia 620 and Lumia 625. The thing is, since they happen to be tied to a single codename, the dual SIM version of the 630 could very well be an upgrade to the Lumia 625. One thing is for sure, the Lumia 630 or Lumia 635 should come with something better than a 4.7” display at 480 x 800 pixels.
It remains to be seen just when will either the Lumia 630 or Lumia 635 will be released, and who knows, we might see something over at CES in January, or perhaps MWC 2014 will offer a glimpse of it.
