BlackBerry 10.2.1 To Be Released On All US Carriers Tomorrow

blackberry-10-pbs-univision-viacom1As you might have heard, it has been confirmed that BlackBerry 10.2.1 will be announced on the 28th of January which is good news for those looking forward to the new features that the update will include. However the next question is when will the update be pushed out to users? Apart from iOS, most smartphone platforms are required to pass their updates through to carriers in the US to determine if they’re up to scratch before being released, and it seems that BlackBerry is no exception to the rule, but according to the folks at N4BB, the good news is that for those living in the US, the BlackBerry 10.2.1 update will be officially released on all US carriers come 8AM EST on the 28th of January.

As for those not living in the US, the bad news is that it seems that the update will only be available towards the end of February, meaning that you guys will have to wait for around a month before you can get your hands on it. Presumably it might have something to do with carrier approval, but either way you guys might be in for a wait. In any case the official announcement is expected to be made tomorrow so check back with us then for the details, especially since these release dates are anything but official at the moment.

Maybe It's Time You Broke Up With Some of Your Technology

Sometimes, a service or piece of technology falls out of favor with its user. Perhaps it stops working properly; maybe small niggles become incredibly frustrating; or possibly the two simply grow apart. Either way, maybe the best way to say goodbye is through a breakup letter.

    Fujifilm X-T1 Is Official

Fujifilm has been teasing their upcoming camera, the Fujifilm X-T1 for a while now and sure enough today, on the 28th of January, the camera manufacturer has officially taken the wraps off their latest product offering. Based on the official press release by Fujifilm, the X-T1 appears to be more or less the same as what the rumors have suggested, and the official photos also corroborate earlier leaks as well, a design which Fujifilm likes to call “traditional” with dials and buttons placed where professional photographers might have come to expect, versus more modern cameras where the dials and buttons could be laid out differently. Concept Cortana Video Mistaken For The Real Deal

Cortana's_look_in_Halo_4Word on the street has it that Microsoft is developing a voice assistant feature for Windows Phone called Cortana. Assuming the rumors are to be believed, this feature is said to launch in April, but recently thanks to a leaked video, it seems that an alleged video of Cortana in action has managed to hit the web, showing off some of its features in the process. Unfortunately the video proved to be a fake as mentioned by its creator, WPLeaker. According to WPLeaker, the video was meant to be a concept of what Cortana could do, rather than actual footage itself. In fact it seems that the goal behind the video was to bait those who knew about Cortana into stepping forward and possibly accidentally revealing more information in the process.

Unfortunately WPLeaker’s goal failed and he has since apologized for the deception and inconvenience it might have caused publications who might have reported on the story. However WPLeaker’s concept is pretty cool and looks interesting, but as to whether the final product will actually look the same or function in a similar manner remains to be seen. Alternatively there was also another alleged video of Cortana that was uploaded recently which looks very different from the concept video but we can’t vouch for its legitimacy either. In any case if you’re curious as to what WPLeaker’s concept is about, click here for the video.

Oculus Rift Game Lets Players Diffuse A Bomb

With the Oculus Rift designed to be a virtual reality headset for gaming, safe to say it helps to create a very immersive gaming experience. We’ve seen some creative uses of the Oculus Rift, such as how it simulates a guillotine, as well as provide a freefalling simulation, and now thanks to a group of Canadian indie developers, they have created a game for the Oculus Rift that simulates diffusing a bomb called “Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes”. Created for the Global Game Jam, the game basically tasks one gamer with the Oculus Rift to do the diffusing, while the rest of the team will have to pore through various documents trying to determine the make of the bomb and how best to diffuse it.

The game will also take advantage of the Razer Hydra motion controller, presumably for the wearer of the Oculus Rift to perform the diffusing of the virtual bomb. This also means that unless you have both the Oculus Rift and the Razer Hydra, you’d be out of luck if you wanted to try the game for yourself. According to the developers, there was a lot more features that they would have liked to add to the game but couldn’t as they were pressed for time. Such features included sensors that would prevent gamers from flipping the bomb over, panels that required unscrewing, and so on. All in all it’s a pretty clever idea and you can check it out in the video above.
