Potential Suicide Victim Reunited With Rescuer Via Twitter Campaign

findmikeHow does it feel like to play the role of a hero? Well, Neil Laybourn certainly stepped into the shoes of a hero when he stopped Jonny Benjamin, 26, from plunging to his death on Waterloo Bridge in January six years ago. The latter was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder when Neil Laybourn actually managed to stop Jonny from taking the final leap. Mr. Benjamin decided that one good turn deserves another, which is why he kicked off a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #findmike so that he can trace down the person who saved his life.

Can Motorola Still Be Awesome Without Google?

You can make all kinds of guesses about why Google sold Motorola. Did it only want the patents all along? Is it making nice with Samsung? But a more pressing question has been weighing on our minds: "So uh… what about the Moto X?"

Circulation Enhancing Vibration Gloves – hopefully they work as claimed!

circulation-enhancing-glovesThe next time you feel as though your fingers do not have enough blood flowing in that particular direction, it is not as though your spider sense is tingling, but rather, it could be due to the fact that you need a device like the $149.95 Circulation Enhancing Vibration Gloves to help you out. These happen to be therapeutic gloves which are able to vibrate so that they help to stimulate blood flow in the fingers, all the while providing drug-free relief from pain and stiffness – which is great for those who want to wean themselves off painkillers and other kinds of pills.

The Circulation Enhancing Vibration Gloves will sport slim nodes that have been strategically placed over each finger and thumb joint, allowing the gloves to deliver a gentle vibration which will help massage away pain all the while improving one’s flexibility. This particular comfortable movement, when merged with a slight compression that has been exerted by the gloves’ slim fit, would end up creating a soothing warmth which is touted to help enhance circulation and ease soreness. The soft gloves themselves are manufactured from a breathable blend of 92% cotton/8% spandex, and they offer a firm grip of whatever you intend to tote around thanks to textured undersides. A 4-hour charge offers up to 20 minutes of treatment.

HTC Desire 310 Revealed By Accident

htc-desire-310The folks over at HTC Europe have most probably revealed the yet unreleased HTC Desire 310 smartphone by accident, as until now, no formal announcements were made. It could be due to the fact that HTC did not see the HTC Desire 310 as a device worthy of receiving its very own dedicated announcement, or it could have boiled down to an error by the manufacturer themselves. The official page (which has since been taken down, of course) pointed to an extremely moderate hardware specifications list, which means this would clearly reside somewhere in the mid-range or entry level side of things.

    CyberNotes: Recreating Classics Using Legos

This article was written on June 20, 2008 by CyberNet.

    CyberNotes
    Fun Friday

Back in the 1940′s in Europe, little interlocking bricks called “Automatic Binding Bricks” were created. They had little round “studs” on the top, and the bottoms were rectangular in shape and hollow. The studs allowed the bricks to be connected together to create something, and then later on taken apart to create something different. Eventually they went from being made out of wood to being made out of plastic, and they were re-named and called LEGOs. Yes, those LEGOs (source).

Did you know that LEGO in Latin can actually be interpreted as “I put together” or “I assemble?” They’ve become a must-have toy for just about any child over the years, and there are even Lego-themed amusement parks out there called Legoland in Denmark, Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Many of you probably spent your childhood days constructing and de-constructing all kinds of things with the little blocks.

Recently we came across a man (who goes by the name of Balakov on Flickr) who takes pictures of LEGOs as a hobby. What he does is uses legos to reconstruct some famous photographs (landing on the moon, raising the flag at Iwo Jima, and more) . It’s very simple, yet pretty amazing at the same time. He’s got a whole Flickr page that we recommend checking out which is found here. Today we’ll be posting a handful of those pictures he’s taken along with the real-life originals. Note: Balakov using a Nikon D200 to take these photographs.

Batman Assault on Wayne Manor LEGO Set Looks Amazing

LEGO already has some really cool DC Comics sets, but we can never have too many. This “Assault on Wayne Manor” design by LEGO Cuusoo contributor DarthKy is definitely worthy. Bruce Wayne’s mansion has never looked so amazing (though his Batcave has.)

    wayne manor 620x348magnify

In this proposed set, you’ll get Wayne Manor and minifigs of Ra’s al Ghul, Red Hood, Firefly, Batgirl, Lucius Fox, Bruce Wayne, Alfred, and Batman. The manor even has secret passages and a Batcave. Because what would Wayne Manor be without the Batcave.

The set is designed to hinge out into multiple sections, so you can open it up and reveal each section of the interior of Wayne Manor’s interior.

    batman wayne manor 6 620x310magnify

This set is estimated at 2,000-2,800 pieces, and the detail is quite impressive.

The Batcave even has some of Batman’s best known trophies, including a T. Rex, a giant Lincoln penny, Mr. Freeze’s gun, a Joker card, and some green Kryptonite. What, no Two-Face coin?

    batman wayne manor 5 620x348magnify

If the set gets 10,000 votes on Cuusoo, LEGO has no choice but to look at it and evaluate it for possible production. It’s almost halfway there. I think it will reach the goal easily – and it doesn’t hurt that LEGO already has a business deal with DC Comics either.

You can find more images of Wayne Manor over on Flickr, and show your support by heading to Cuusoo now and casting your vote!

Wastewater from Cheese is Generating Electricity in Wisconsin

Wastewater from Cheese is Generating Electricity in Wisconsin

As the country’s largest producer of cheese, Wisconsin is also the country’s largest producer of cheese waste. But why think of that as a bad thing? In the hands of some enterprising Wisconsinites, what was once wastewater is now electricity. This is, after all, the same state that’s using salty cheese brine to de-ice its roads.

‘Star Wars’ sled strikes back: AT-AT races in Cardboard Classic

Doug Brewbaker rides the AT-AT while fellow builders Garret Geiger (in black) and James Groves give it a shove. The All Terrain Armored Transport doesn’t look quite as intimidating when it’s a sled made of cardboard, tape, and optimism that it can reach the finish line.

Darth Vader himself would approve of the giant AT-AT sled that raced against 50 other entries in the 8th Annual Cardboard Classic last weekend in Lansing, Mich.

Contestants enter sleds made completely from cardboard, paper, glue, tape, paint, and creativity. All sleds race down a short hill near the Gier Community Center with hopes that their unique creations hold together by the time they meet the finish line.

Sky Is Sole UK Provider For Game Of Thrones Until 2020

sky-hbo-2020Whenever someone happens to be a sole provider or owns exclusive rights to something, you know for sure that such a company or party would have rather extensive clout in the marketplace, and would more often than not be rolling in plenty of money. I guess you can more or less say that Sky has netted a coup after expanding their partnership with HBO. This means that shows such as ‘Game of Thrones’ alongside other HBO shows will be offered by Sky in the UK – and Sky alone, at least until the year 2020 rolls around.
