[MWC 2014] Panasonic has made a return to the smartphone scene, although their most recent release will be far from a crowd puller since it runs on Windows Embedded 8 Handheld as the mobile operating system of choice. Yes sir, no Android, Windows Phone 8, Firefox OS and obviously not iOS, but Windows Embedded 8 Handheld. I am quite sure that this is the first time for some to have heard of this particular mobile operating system. Windows Embedded devices tend to lean more towards the enterprise side of things, and with the introduction of the Panasonic FZ-E1, let us check out after the jump to see what it is capable of delivering.

iPhone Bing App Updated
Posted in: Today's ChiliMicrosoft has just introduced a spanking new update of its Bing app, targeting iPhone users who happen to enjoy this navigational tool. This is a positive development, since it has been several months since Microsoft rolled out a revamped version for all iOS devices. What makes this particular update more special than the rest is this – it is apparently meant just for iPhone owners, and has yet to be optimized for the iPad – or maybe, never. Microsoft did mention that the new features which are introduced in the updated iPhone Bing app were all thrown into the mix because of input from their user base. Among the new additions would be a widget that boasts of a quartet of touch-friendly buttons which would enable users to “return to the homepage, conduct a voice search, conduct a text search or see your Recent searches.”

It’s not fair. Time lapses and fancy cameras get these fantastic images of star trails that paint a starry night onto the sky and yet when we look up, we see nothing. Even when the stars are glistening, we don’t get to see the mesmerizing hook of its trail spinning around us. Wouldn’t it be awesome if night looked like this?
It’s great to have speedy 802.11ac WiFi in a smartphone, but the technology doesn’t always live up to the promise; busy hotspots and walls often slow it down. They may not be as much of a problem once Broadcom’s new BCM4354 system-on-chip reaches…
There is a new SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I memory card in town, where this time around, you would be able to enjoy up to 128GB of storage space. This would instantly turn the 128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I memory card into the world’s largest capacity microSD card. Being smaller than some fingernails, this new SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card would allow consumers to make use of their smartphones and tablets without having to worry too much about storage limitations. However, I guess when it comes to archiving as well as keeping track of what files have gone where, you would need to be a good organizer in order to do so.

Samsung today took wraps off it’s hotly-anticipated Galaxy S5 smartphone. But instead of focusing on software bells and whistles, the company says the phone is all about the things consumers want most – fast network connectivity, a great screen and camera, and durability.
Compared with the S4, the Galaxy S5 will offer a slightly larger 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, and will be powered by a 2.5 GHz Quad Core CPU, running Android 4.4.2 (Kitkat). The phone’s battery has been stepped up from 2600mAh to 2800mAh, and there’s even a “super power save” mode which will drop the display down to black and white and turn off various features when you want to get the most possible life. Its also had both cameras upgraded – the front camera is now 2.1MP, while the rear is 16MP. Autofocus time has also been improved to as little as 0.3 seconds. Also, according to its spec sheet, it can capture UHD video at 30fps. We’re assuming this means 4K.
The Galaxy S5 supports 802.11ac and 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi connectivity, and a new feature called “Download Booster” which can combine data transmission over LTE and Wi-Fi simultaneously for greater throughput (though this will eat up data on your data plan when activated). It’s also got an upgraded fitness package called S Health 3.0, which includes tools like a pedometer, diet and exercise tracking and even a built-in heart rate monitor.
The design of the new phone is definitely more refined than the prior model in my opinion, and has a textured pattern on the back of its case to not only give it a better grip, but to make it more distinctive than past models. You can choose from a variety of colors, including black, white, blue and copper-gold to start.
Perhaps the best new feature of the Galaxy S5 isn’t its design or under the hood, it’s the fact that it’s now IP67 dust and water resistant – which should make it much harder to damage the phone. Though it’s still not fully waterproof, like the underwater-friendly Sony Xperia ZR.
Samsung hasn’t yet revealed pricing for the Galaxy S5, but has said the phone will be available this April 11, in both a 16GB and 32GB versions. For now, there’s no plan to release a 64GB model, though the phone’s microSD slot can add up to 64GB of additional storage.
Can you find anything and everything on eBay? Apparently so, even the new all-electric Coda Sedan. Wait a minute here, why would one want to go to eBay to buy a brand new car, when you can easily walk into a dealership and drive away with one? Well, perhaps the fact that Coda Automotive went bankrupt in May last year has something to do with such a predicament, and it has led all of the leftover stock of Coda Cars’ EVs to be sold at “a substantial discount” to those who were interested. I suppose this is a bargain buy if there ever was one from Coda Cars, with the Coda Sedan going for $37,250, down sharply from the original $44,900 sticker price tag. However, Coda Cars even had a Coda EV on eBay that ended at a mere $14,000, picking up 24 bids along the way, making it worth way below the reserve price.
According to Rick Curtis, a Coda dealer previously who is working with Coda Cars now, “We put a Coda on eBay from time to time but most of the time we are selling these from our website or referrals. We have been selling complete cars, gliders and a few rollers and have even been selling components to buyers worldwide.” [eBay Listing]

Tracking Down Great Software For You!
Don’t you hate when you go to delete a file or folder and it says that you can’t because it is in use? The worst part is that you can never figure out what the heck is using it. WhoLockMe will solve that problem for you because you will just have to right-click on the file that is in use and select the option “Who Lock Me.” It will then reveal the programs that are using it.
I have had this happen all the time to me, especially after I uninstall something and try to delete the folder that it left behind. It can normally be cleared up simply by restarting my computer but this tool will provide the answer that my curious mind is always wondering.
WhoLockMe is compatible with Windows NT, 2000, and XP.
Thanks to “Nate The Great” for the tip!
