Microsoft Expands Retail Presence In The U.S.

Microsoft’s retail presence in the U.S. isn’t as widespread as Apple’s, but Redmond has been working hard to catch up. It currently has 83 retail and speciality stores across North America and has revealed plans of an additional 11 new speciality stores that are due to open next month. Recent grand openings of Microsoft stores have yielded great crowds, the company often commemorates openings with exclusive in-store discounts and entertainment.

For those who don’t know speciality stores aren’t exactly proper brick and mortar outlets, they’re more like kiosks that have a “curated selection” of Microsoft products. Think of them as popup shops. The obvious downside when compared to full retail stores is that selection of products is limited due to space constraints. The entire list of 11 new Microsoft speciality stores has been posted by the company on its Facebook page.

Products on sales at these speciality stores will include Surface tablets, Xbox consoles, Windows 8 PCs and smartphones. Customers will also be able to take advantage of exclusive opening day only offers as well have a chance to win some prizes.

Moreover, the company is also planning to open full retail stores in Aventura, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, Garden City, New York, Paramus, New Jersey and The Woodlands, Texas.

If You Watch One Video Of An Algae-Eating Autonomous Robot Today, Make It This One

lhousden9mar14ivan31 Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the nasty, stinky water, the Symbiotic Machine comes along and blows your mind. This little robot, built by designer Ivan Henriques, sucks in dirty water, breaks down the walls of algae cells, and then uses the resulting juice in the same way you use lemon juice to create a simple battery with a copper plate and photocell. Downgrade Windows Phone 8.1 To 8.0 Possible

At BUILD 2014 Microsoft finally unveiled Windows Phone 8.1, the next major platform update. It then released developer preview on April 14th. Microsoft doesn’t place any restrictions on the preview. So even if you’re not a developer you can easily get your hands on Windows Phone 8.1 today. Many people did just that, which caused Microsoft’s App Studio to crash for a few hours when the developer preview was released. Since this isn’t the best software to use as a daily driver some users might have wondered if it is possible to downgrade Windows Phone 8.1 to 8.0. It definitely is.

The official Windows Phone 8.1 release is destined for summer 2014. Developer preview isn’t optimized with carrier or manufacturer settings so users might face a number of issues. Some report deteriorating battery life, overheating and a plethora of other bugs. Its not like this is unexpected, these issues exist on unrefined software.

It isn’t that hard to downgrade Windows Phone 8.1 to 8.0. Users will need the Nokia Software Updater app on their computer, and since it will wipe the device during downgrade, its best to backup the data first. A video has been posted online which details all of the steps that need to be followed. It should take more than a few minutes to downgrade.

Keep in mind though that this method only works with Nokia devices, then again, its most likely that majority of Windows Phone owners are on a Nokia Lumia smartphone.

The Outdoor Massaging Body Roll gives you a break from daily stressors

Massage Body Roll
We all get stressed out about different things. Sometimes it’s working too many days in a row, not having anything “fun” scheduled into your week, or just annoying everyday occurrences. Sooner or later, the things that make you tense up are going to make knots in your muscles. This is why we enjoy taking hot baths and are always in search of a massage.

The Outdoor Massage Body Roll will help you relax wherever you are. This is meant primarily for the outdoors as the name suggests, but there’s nothing wrong with laying down on the floor at work and just taking a few deep breaths now and again. In fact, this will boost your productivity so your brain isn’t in such a constant flurry. It would probably help if we didn’t all drink so much coffee, but it just tastes so good!

This body roll has four points of vibration massage that will help your muscles to calm themselves. When its not in use, it can be rolled up like a yoga mat. It is water, fade, and mildew resistant fabric, which likely means it’s not going to be the softest thing you’ve ever put your head on. This would be best paired with a beach towel that is large enough to cover it. You’ll be looking at $50 if you’re interested, and it probably won’t see much use until the weather is warm enough for swimming outdoors. Unless of course you like a little cool breeze hanging around.

No, Tech Adoption Is Not Speeding Up

No, Tech Adoption Is Not Speeding Up

Yesterday the folks over at Vox published an article arguing that generations should be defined by the technology they use, rather than by age. They included a graph that purported to show how American society is "adopting new technology more quickly than ever before." The graph is garbage. And here’s why.

Man at Arms Makes Jake’s Sword from Adventure Time

I’m not sure why a shape-shifting dog even needs a sword, but that’s Adventure Time for you. It doesn’t have to make sense to be an amazing cartoon. As you might expect, this sword is totally mathematical! It was made by none other than our favorite blacksmith, Tony “Man at Arms” Swatton.

The swords in Adventure Time all have their quirks. Jake’s weapon is no exception. Look how long that hilt is. You could never use this sword in real life. That didn’t stop master swordsmith Tony Swatton from making it real. Watch as he first makes Jake’s sword, then uses it to destroy stuff.

It really is beautiful and it looks like it came right out of the cartoon. As usual, Great work, Tony!
