Microsoft Offers Update On WhatsApp Situation

Microsoft Offers Update On WhatsApp SituationAlmost two weeks ago, WhatsApp was removed from the Windows Phone Store without any explanation as to why, apart from a rather vague statement which revealed that there were bugs WhatsApp and Microsoft were working to fix. We reckon it must have been a pretty serious bug if the app had to be pulled.

Microsoft assured users that WhatsApp would be restored soon but given that it was more than a week ago, we’re sure many Windows Phone users are wondering what’s going on? While the app still has yet to make its way back into the Windows Phone Store, Microsoft has since issued an update to Windows Phone users about the status of the app.

According to Microsoft, “WhatsApp chose to unpublish their app from the Windows Phone Store after discovering an issue with how notifications are being handled on Windows Phone 8, Update 3. We are working closely with WhatsApp to resolve the issue quickly. Thank you for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.”

Unfortunately Microsoft was not able to provide a timeline as to when the app will be re-released, but they did stress that quality is a priority at Microsoft, so we guess it’s better they get it right than releasing something shoddy. “We know it is taking longer than expected to find a solution and make WhatsApp available again. However, quality is a top priority for Microsoft and WhatsApp and we want to get it right.”

In any case we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more information about the release of WhatsApp, so check back with us at a later date for the details.

Microsoft’s Smartwatch Will Be Compatible With iOS & Android [Rumor]

Microsofts Smartwatch Will Be Compatible With iOS & Android [Rumor]Apple is rumored to launch a smartwatch of its own, and Google has Android Wear, an SDK that it will be providing OEMs who wish to build smartwatches based on Android, like Motorola’s Moto 360 and LG’s G Watch. This is why it is hardly a stretch of the imagination to think that Microsoft could be interested in making a smartwatch of their own too, and now thanks to a report on Forbes, additional details about Microsoft’s rumor wearable tech has surfaced.

According to Forbes, Microsoft is expected to tap their engineers from its Kinect division to help with the development of its smartwatch. One of the rumored features of the smartwatch is its ability to measure heart rate and to sync it with mobile devices, like smartphones or tablets. Microsoft is also hoping to be able to continuously measure heart rate through the day and night, thus providing users with a constant update of information about themselves.

Interestingly enough, it seems that Microsoft wants it smartwatch to be compatible with all mobile platforms, including iOS and Android. We can only assume the iWatch will only play nice with iOS devices, and with Android Wear, well the name itself already suggests that it will be most likely optimized for Android devices. In fact Samsung’s wearables are pretty much limited to Samsung’s products, so by opening it up to iOS and Android users, Microsoft could potentially gain more customers that way.

Microsoft’s willingness to work with other platforms was demonstrated a few months ago, when the company’s new CEO, Satya Nadella, unveiled Office for iPad, finally bringing Microsoft’s suite of productivity apps onto iOS devices. Forbes also suggests that the rumored smartwatch from Microsoft could debut this summer and pack a 2-day battery life. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if Microsoft does unveil it in the summer, they could beat Apple’s iWatch to the punch.

Japan Display Reveals WhiteMagic Technology In Tablet Display

Japan Display Reveals WhiteMagic Technology In Tablet DisplayJapan Display is a name that we are all familiar with, considering the number of various mobile displays that they have released in the past as well as enterprise-based displays that support high resolution and insane pixel densities. Well, in their latest effort concerning a new high resolution tablet display, it will rely on “WhiteMagic” technology that is said to deliver better visibility outdoors as well as a lower power consumption when one is indoors.

WhiteMagic display technology has already been used in a smartphone before, with Sony’s Xperia P smartphone the first off the blocks to do so back when the 4” smartphone was introduced to the masses in 2012. This time around, Japan Display intends to work their ‘magic’ so as to deliver the same in a larger, higher-resolution display that will target the tablet market.

This new display happens to measure 7” in size, where it carries a resolution count of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, sporting a pixel density of 431 pixels per inch as well as 160 degree viewing angles. Considering how it falls under the WhiteMagic category, it would come with red, green, blue and white subpixels rather than the standard issue RGB arrangement. This paves the way for it to achieve a similar brightness level as that of a traditional display without consuming too much energy under certain situations.

Laser Therapy Could Kiss Goodbye To FIllings And Drills

Laser Therapy Could Kiss Goodbye To FIllings And DrillsI am not quite sure about you, but even though my mom used to be a dentist with the government, this does not mean that getting treatment from her is any less terrifying for me than any random stranger who needs to get their teeth checked because of a cavity. Well, lasers have been the tool of choice by dentists for years when it comes to tooth whitening, instead of relying on a drill to prepare a cavity Unfortunately, the buck stops there, since filling up the hole will still require the standard trowel and spackle approach. Unless we have Wolverine’s healing factor, it will have to be this new kind of laser therapy that we will rely on in the future if all goes well.

Basically, infrared laser light is used in order to stimulate natural tooth growth, thanks to work done by researchers at Harvard University’s Wyss Institute. These researchers have been checking out various methods to stimulate such a natural tooth repair movement, where they figured out that using an infrared laser technique known as low-level light therapy is going to reap benefits in the long run.

Early experiments involved drilling holes in the teeth of rats, before directing an infrared laser at the affected area. This in turn managed to stimulate stem cells, resulting in the creation of new dentin, which is the basic building block material required for the core of teeth. Will it work just as effectively on humans? Only time will tell.

Verizon HTC One Remix Leaks Out

Verizon HTC One Remix Leaks OutSerial leakster @evleaks is at it again, where this time around, we are treated to a particular smartphone which is known as the HTC One Remix. This particular handset has had made its fair share of rumor rounds over the past month, but there has yet to be a clear look at the soon-to-arrive smartphone. I suppose all of that is going to change now thanks to @evleaks as the latest image of the HTC One Remix shows its face, although the top part of the handset has been blurred out.

In the latest leaked image, one will be able to make out the Verizon branding that is located at the bottom of its face. Apart from that, one is also able to see how there are front-facing BoomSound speakers that will be a treat to your ears, with HTC-style on-screen navigation buttons as well as what resembles that of HTC’s BlinkFeed news reader.

The HTC One Remix has long been touted by many to be Verizon’s version of the recently-announced HTC One mini 2. This particular leak goes some way in lending some weight to that particular claim, since the device itself does share a fair number of looks with that of the HTC One mini 2.

T-Mobile Moto X Update Coming, Soak Tests First

T Mobile Moto X Update Coming, Soak Tests FirstIf you happen to be rocking out to a Motorola Moto X smartphone while being a T-Mobile subscriber, then here should definitely be some welcome news for you to hear. It seems that Motorola has in store an update that ought to whet your appetite and cause you to lick your lips in anticipation, where a new software update for the T-Mobile version of the Moto X is on its way. This bit of news came about via an email which was being sent out to members of the Motorola Feedback Network, where these members were invited “to participate in a preview of a new software release.” In a nutshell, we are talking about a soak test here.

Soak tests happen to be a small band of users testing up a particularly new update, guinea pigs to to speak. There are obvious upsides to this, which would mean your handset is ahead of the curve compared to others who are not in on the soak test, but on the other hand, any bugs in the soak test would only affect this small group of users. Ah well, you can’t have your cake and eat it, too.

Motorola has not shed too much light on what these soak tests are all about, but considering the Moto X already received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in February, could this latest soak test include new bug fixes, or perhaps some other feature that will be introduced? Only time will tell.
